Tons of houses are beeing built in poinciana for the past year or two. Getting out of Poinciana is a total mess specially at around 6-9 rush. There is beautiful houses, however, there is alot of traffic and many accidents.

Robery and crime has rosed in a hurry and there is not enogh police to cver the area. If you get sick and have to go to the emergency room, you are going to drive minimum of 19 miles to the nearest hospital. Perhaps when you get there, it s gonna be full because of the many accidents that occur there. There are no jobs around the area, except for local stores like Walmart, pizza Hut, Publix, exc.

If you were to buy a house in poinciana, FL, visit the city before you do so. I garantee you will think twice before you do so.

I agree. I transfer for work and was hurried in finding a place. We got a great house, but if I would of been informed or seen Poinciana first hand, I would of never moved there. What a cluster. Money is what keeps that place going. Avatar paying off folks to keep building and not putting in roads. God if you get sick, hope you don't need an ambulance. You will die first.

Well, at least they're working on improving the traffic problem. Once the new roads are in place, it's gonna be better.

Hopefully, we'll be able to get a hospital through the appeals process as well.

Regarding the crime, I guess it's normal, there's been so many new residents. Not all of them can be good guys unfortunately. But personally, I feel pretty safe in Poinciana, and I feel the Sheriff presence is adequate. At least around where I live (Village 5).

Do you think the upcoming commuter rail system and the connection to I-4 will solve our problems or are bandaids?

First let me give you some history. I have lived in Poinciana my whole life. I remember when there was nothing out here but the Farm Store and Pleasent(Kill) road was still two lanes. It will get worse before it gets better. But the real problem with Poinciana is AVATAR, most large bussiness that do come out here put a seven year no comp clause and have to lease form avater. Most of them are a bunch of 80 year old farts down in Miami. The reason the roads are so bad is this place (back in the 70's) was going to be a 55 and up comunty, but they couldnt sell so Avatar came up with the family community thing. But that was then and this is now Poinciana is the sencond largest planed commuinty in the country and will one day be the size of Orlando. Every thing we dont have we will have in 15 or 20 years. By the end of 2008 we will be at a population of about 70,000 which is more then enough support large corparations other then the dreaded Wal-Mart and Burger King. The reason we dont have malls and movie theaters is because we are not a city. Poinciana isnt even considered a town is a towne which means nothing to all the buisness we need so badly out here. But yet again the problem is Avatar and the Disney corp, they own poinciana to get anything done they need to market this community to more bussiness owners and less home owners. As for road development, besides the perposed Poinciana parkway plan, extending Old Pleasent Hill Rd. to Walnut would improve traffic on Country Club Rd. and also conecting South Port to the Turnpike or Kissimmee Park Rd. would be helpful. Another thing we need shopping out in villiage 7 and 8. Im sure im not the only person thats noticed this but all the shopping out here is in one area Doverplum and now there building a shopping plaza there great more traffic in one area why dosent any one build past Solivta towards Haines City?

What is the big deal with above ground pools? Why does the HOA kill the idea again and again??? I would love this town more if I could get an affordable pool, since there is nothing else to do around here with your children!!!
If they are so against above ground pools, why doesn't the community build a community pool!!!???

We should all over ride this horrid rule!!!

I have read that the folks in Poinciana have voted down the pool. I agree there needs to be more for the kids and grown ups as well. Not sure why the keep voting down the pools, but they do. Also when they do hold any type of meeting, they always hold them while folks are working. I can't miss work to get to a meeting. I thik they do it on purpose so they don't get a big turn out. What else is new. If you have lots of $$$$$ your all set.

By reading all of these comments it makes me shocked on what Poinciana has become. I havent lived here all my life, however, I have been in and out for about 5-6 years. when poinciana was started the big boom around that time that everyone was moving down from up north. that you can get a nice 4-5 bedroom for about 140K. yeah that was when i discovered poinciana. and it wasnt even as bad as it is now. i recently moved back down from CT and my family and i bought a house in poinciana becuase its the place where you can pretty much get more for your money. well my husband HATES it! he has his own busniess and has to commute more then 3 hours a day back and forth from orlando because most of his works come out of there and most of the commute is just getting out of here. we came down to live our all american dream of buying our first home and now we are stuck because we cant sell the house due to the bad market right now and there is just TOOOO many houses that are either up for sale or in foreclosure. everyone is right. poinciana is growing too rapidly and the investors are not investing their money in the right places. they need to bring more corp. in here. there are sooo many talented people here and people with so high credentials and its just a shame that they have to settle for 6-7.00 an hour jobs.

I am moving to Poinciana the first week of January from New Jersey. I drive 76 miles one way to work here in NJ. Takes 1.5 hours at 5 am. I will work in Poinciana and will have a 10 minute, 4 mile drive to work. Can't wait.

To those of you moving to the area, welcome. Cracks me up how the people who do nothing to improve all they take for granted have the most time to bad mouth this wonderful community.
There are allot of really good people here in Poinciana. Neighbors look after neighbors and we do the best we can to keep our yards tidy and mowed.
A few of my neighbors walk with me each evening and we meet others doing the same. It is our social hour. We love to sit on the porch sipping wine or visiting our neighbors and when we are lucky they throw something on the grill.
This is a really good place, far enough away from all the hustle and bustle of Orlando to make you feel like you are heading for your vacation home each night.
Do we have problems here? Yes, but no more, perhaps a bit less than any other community in Central Florida.
Come on down, you are welcomed here.

i lived in poinciana for a year and a half came from nj by far the worst place to live i would tell everyone dont i mean dont do it look at what poinciana is accidents, violance, traffic, drugs, nothing to do, i mean nothing at all might be 4 miles but i am serious 4 miles takes 20 mins. if you read articles not enough cops for the problems well ask yourself why do they need so many cops?
