Scott Mansfield, convicted of the Oct. 15, 1995 first-degree murder of Sara Robles, has been granted a new trial.

State is going to appeal the decision

U.S. District Court Judge Gregory Presnell in Orlando ruled that a videotape of Scott Mansfield being interrogated by Kissimmee Presnell ordered Mansfield released if the state does not retry him within 120 days.

But the Florida Attorney General's Office, which is handling the case, plans to appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.

Why Not? Its just millions of dollars of tax payers money wasted again. I'd be willing to wager every dime I own and my house and the clothes off of my back that more guilty criminals have escaped justice due to the Miranda ruling across this country than were unjustly innocent people were protected from being wrongly prosecuted by not having someone tell them that they had the right to have a lawyer present. I'd go further and say that the ratio is more like greater than ten to one. The Miranda ruling was a farce to start with and has been furthered by dishonest, criminal lawyers ever since. Yes, to become a criminal lawyer, you first have to be a criminal yourself. Justice is an accidental, occasional, outcome of a judicial process.

Justice for the Criminal. To hell with the victims and their families. Another trial? And then another and another until the original members of the jury that convicted him are dead. What? No DNA here at all? 1995? This dude should have been fried a long, long time ago.

Was this issue ever brought up in a Motion to Suppress before the first trial???? If not, that defense attorney did not do their job. This should have been dealt with in the beginning, not 14 years later...

you are the same type that claims to be a proud american, yet you would give up the rights that make you american. bet you supported bushes fisa bill. you are a threat to the american way.

If you were ever jailed for 24 hours like me and were innocent, you would understand why I say, this is justice. The fact is the Kissimmee police didn't follow the law and it is their fault if this guy goes free. The fact is that everyone deserves a proper defense, otherwise the doors would slam shut on innocent people over and over again. Kissimmee police, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

SCOTT MANSFIELD killed a mother of 6 , one of them is my fiancee, she lost the privilege of having a mother , due to this guy actions.( After Mansfield dropped Robles body behind the Winn-Dixie, around 4:00 a.m. he went back to his apartment and went for a swim in the pool so that the chlorine would eat the blood. Melissa Johnson is the daughter of Charles Mansfield and resided with her parents and Scott Mansfield at the time of the murder. At Approximately 4:45 a.m. on October 15, 1995, Mansfield knocked on Johnson's bedroom window and she got up and went to the door and let her Uncle in the apartment.Mansfield was wet all over, wearing no shirt, and carrying his shoes. Johnson gave her Uncle a towel to dry-off. She noticed that her Uncle had a red spot on his shorts that she thought came from his cut finger.Mansfield did have an injury above his knuckle above the ring on his left hand when questioned by police after the murder.There was also an old injury on his knuckle on the right hand. this guy deserves to be fried.

This isn't about KPD........In reality we have a situation where six kids were left without a mother. Nothing can justified the torture of Sara's death. This killer will diffently kill again. He indeed deserves the death penalty!!!!!!!! And the death penalty he'll get!!!!!!!!!!

Hannah.. I am truly sorry about your mom..can't even imagine.. and bless you for your stregnth. Scott will get what is deserved in the end. I was reading up on this case a bit and wonder if they truly investigated the other man that was with them.. Scott may not have acted alone??
