As a hardworking state employee dedicated to serving the residents of this state, I take exception to being called a worthless parasite. Being union or non-union has nothing to do with work ethics. There are many dedicated hard working union workers doing a great job serving the citizens of California. Granted, there are always some bad apples as there are in non union private industry as well, but to group everybody together as worthless parasites,is very ignorant, unfair and unjust.
Serving the residents of this state my a ss, more like self serving, quit your dam whining, unfair and unjust is whats going on in our state , to the hard working class, and I am not talking about the illegals that pick friut heard that a millions times.

I am not a state employee! But, me thinks ya all should read the article in the Sacramento Bee. It seems that furloughed and layed off state employees have a direct effect on the local economy "up north". With the Friday's off and 14% cut of state employess, the already struggling food establishments are suffering even more from the loss of the lunch/dinner time crowd, other busineses that depend on the necessary and discreationary of these employess are down, and the tax base is fading even more. The state employess WERE keeping everything afloat . The "mom and pop" businesses are struggling now and many of these businesses are mourning the loss of their regular "goverment employed" customers.

Folks, have you thought about this...if you cut out the government employees and their steady flow of income, who is left to buy what you sell? How many more homes will fall into default? Who will be left to keep this struggling economy's head above water? THINK, for goodness sakes.

Yes, go ahead and drive the state into bankruptcy...then maybe we can get something done around here. What you folks don't seem to realize is that this bloated leftist government in California has driven the very tax base required to fund your fairy tale jobs and retirements right out of the state. What's left that's not silicon valley, and military-industrial, and construction/development(oops- no more of that), is government itself, and retail, and underground cash economy = no tax base.....so....why don't we legalize pot and statewide gambling?! Yeah, that's it- short-term quick money leading to long-term reduced productivity, lawlessness, fiscal irresponsibility, and more underground cash economy and self-serving special interests! Yeah that state lottery and Indian gaming really gave us a shot in the arm when we needed it! lol Turn off the TV, forget about the movies, let MJ rest in peace! And get to work Californians! Rich and poor alike- get to work! oh wait, there are no jobs....sorry.

Ever notice that all those SEIU "workers" are totally fat? Who will notice if they strike? I go to DMV once every 8 years (AAA does everything but a license). You mean the welfare people and the illegal Mexican aliens won't get their money? SO WHAT.

Let them go on strike, and then tell them to come back or else. Those who don't are then fired and replaced.

That union needs to get its wings trimmed real good.

State workers think that we can just print money. They tried that in Zimbabwe and the result was $10,000 % inflation. Actually I don't care if the DMV is closed 18 days a month, since I don't own a car.

Who cares go ahead and strike, get rid of the union people they make way too much money for the little work they do. Put people in there that will actually work.
Im in a union and no, we dont make all that money everyone thinks we do. The union makes sure the administration (Who make six figures each)dont treat us like illegals. The Administration in every state office make the big money and they always ask the little guy living from paycheck to paycheck to cut back

Part of those State employees are actually Federal employees supported by Federal funds. California furlough this employees and uses this Federal money that is not theirs in order to solve their own problems. Too bad if you need disability under Social Security, you will have to wait longer because California is stealing the employee's salary that was going to work on your case.

Let them strike. Maybe someone will grow some balls and fire them. New wage scales can then be implemented.

Absolutely not! We have two state employees in our family. Since the economy is bad all over, is it not better to take a 14% pay cut, with three extra days off a month as compensation, than to join the masses of the unemployed? It is budget-tightening time for all of us, so deal with it with a degree of grace and maturity, and be thankful for what you have.

I hope state employees do strike and everything just comes to a stop as we know it, so that these bastard state legislators will make the CUTS TO PROGRAMS the state needs to survive.

These people are all sitting around recycling ideas and plans that the governator has already said have no chance of him approving, just wasting more time and state money.

This must have been written by a State employee.(please note, I didn't say State worker, cause they don't work). It makes no sense. State employees may be paid with federal money, but that doesn't make them federal employees. If they were federal employees, they would be paying into Social Security and not their over generous CalPers. If they were federal employees, the state could not furlough them. If anyone needs Social Security disability, they need to go to the Social Security Office, staffed by federal workers, who are not furloughed.

State employees, be careful....you can be replaced. The unemployment rate in this state is over 10%. There are plenty of qualified workers willing to replace you. Ten years ago, this state functioned just fine with half the number of state employees. Ten years ago, California had a larger population. We don't need all of you.
Federal law states that if they are replaced, it cannot take place for up to 3 years after they are fired. Lets see...3 years of no state services. Aint going to happen

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aquarius

The more you want to control someone, or someone wants to control you, the more difficult life will be today. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so the last thing you should do now is to act as though you own this person, or tell them what to do, because it will be an instant recipe for rebellion and trouble. Mars is retro in your house of significant others and open enemies after all. If you don't want to spoil the evening's celebrations you'll have to make compromises, and hope that this other person will do the same. Don't let the fuss stop you having a very happy New Year's Eve.
