okay I'll lay it out for you all vets are good and all vets are bad it depends on what you're looking for. why don't you go by their offices and see what you think some vets have good bedside manners but don't know jack about keeping a dog healthy. some have bad bedside manners but they really know medicine and can find the problem if you have a sick dog. 1 good thing to look for is to make sure their office and facilities are clean that goes a long way in keeping a dog healthy when they are at the vet. some vets put a lot back into the community and some put none whatsoever into it. I would make my own decision if you go to one and don't like him just go to another one there are plenty around here.. good luck
I've been to Jaco. I didn't like him at all when he didn't even touch my dog to find out what was wrong or to give him a shot and he is expenseive. Johnson and Freeman are ok too. I like Freeman better.

I have to say Dr.Jaco has my vote! Apprx 6yrs ago he saved my dog's life! My shephard by all rights should have been dead when I got him to Dr Jaco's office. He did extensive blood work and found that he had whipworms that was not detected by another local vet 2days prior. His cell count was abnormal and he consulted with specialists who were in other states for their opinions. They thought he was discussing a dog who had died-they couldn't believe my dog was still alive with cell count sooo...low. He did a blood transfusion to save his life-he used his own pet to give blood to save mine!Been with him ever since with no problems. He may seem a little rough around the edges but he tells you like it is-doesn't sugar coat,is very upfront. He is very sincere in helping and saving animals-he is the first in area to have extensive training in stem cell therapy to help pets who have certain health issues and can benefit from treatment.

Dr. Jaco and his staff are great. Yes, he is expensive, but he does have the ability to do most of his stuff there instead of referring to a different vet. Ive always asked for an estimate on the cost of stuff and have always been given one with no problems at all. He can be gruff and forward, but I would rather someone be upfront with me instead of the other way around. He is the only vet that will come in after hours if you have an emergency that I know of around here. He does give back to the community too. He does stuff for the animal shelter and for the exceptional school. Its nice to see that some of the money he makes he puts back to good use locally.

Ceglinski Animal Clinic is #1 in my book. They have a great staff of doctors. Also West Kentucky Emergency Veterinary Services is good for those after hours and weekends emergencies.

I heard Dr. Jaco charges for heart worm tests but never draws blood from your dog. The only way to check for heart worms is to draw a blood sample. Whats up with that. He is a liar and a crook in my opinion.

Jaco refused to come and treat my dog because he wasn't a patient of his. The dog died in my wife's arms who had held him all night. I am glad the ER doesn't operate like this man.

I have heard too many bad things about Jaco... And not just here on Topix. Enough to never want to go there. We use Johnson. He is great and very kind. I also heard nice things about Freeman but he is not open as much as Johnson plus Johnson is just more convenient for us. Some of you have mentioned expense.... I am from a much larger city out west and let me tell you.... Vet prices here are WAY LESS!!!

Why didn't you take your dog to your regular veterinarian? You know, the one that keeps your dog vaccinated and healthy? Oh, that's right. You probably don't even vaccinate your dog and if you do, you probably buy the shots from the co-op or farm store. Maybe you should have called them for veterinary advice when your pet was so sick.
Dr. Jaco does not operate an emergency clinic. He does see emergencies for HIS PATIENTS, why in the world would he go in after hours to take care of someone else's patient? That is ludicrous to even get upset about. If your vet won't come in after hours to see your pet if there is an emergency then that sure isn't his fault.
Plus, there is an emerency clinic in Paducah. For you to blame Dr. Jaco for your dog's death because he wouldn't come in to see you is asinine! It's not his fault you didn't drive to Paducah! It's not his fault you chose to use a veterinarian that doesn't come in after hours.
I've been a client of his since he first opened his practice. I frequent the office because my pets are on multiple medications to manage themselves. One is diabetic and the other has heart issues - both are diagnoses that Dr. Jaco caught and have treated and my pets are thriving. I have never ever witnessed him being rude or having a bad bedside manner - and I have been there many many times. His staff is the best. They are all sweet, nice and pleasant. His office is always clean and never smells like a vet's office. I cannot believe all of the negative things being said about him on here. I am assuming most of you are people who cannot afford proper veterinary care for your animals and you blame him for not giving your pet free care.
I highly highly recommend him and have referred several friends to him - none of those have ever complained about him, either.
