PATASKALA, Ohio - Police said a man shot his wife and 9-year-old son before turning the gun on himself Thursday, 10TV's Maureen Kocot reported Police were called to the home at 13160 Havens Corners Road around 9 a.m. Thursday after a concerned friend called police requesting a well-being check.

Stories like this just break my heart. I can't imagine the desperation and defeat someone must be feeling to do this. I don't know them or their circumstances, but it's still heartbreaking. My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of these 3.

I think this whole situation is disgust! That man took the life of his own birth right! That man had to have be way unstable for a long period of time to want to hurt or kill his family like that! What in the hell is wring with people??

Why on earth does someone think this is ok? My father committed suicide and didn't take out his whole family. I will never understand this as long as I live and breathe. May God bless those left behind to deal with this tragedy.

Why is that a certain group of people that commit suicide also decide they must take out the rest of their family? You see this all the time. It's idiotic that the suicidal person has the right to decide that the others have to die with him/her.

And police are not releasing the names of the victim pending notification... yet 10TV has published the address of where it happened. Won't take much surfing the net to figure out a name.

Terribly tragic that the wife and son had to die this way. Condolences to the family.

Man, how can you kill your child. I can understand someone giving up and offing themself, not that is is fair to everyone else, but to choose to take a future away from the child that you brought into this world...I will never comprehend.

I know & work with the woman's brother. There were no signs that the family could see that would lead anyone to think that this was going to happen. It is very sad. They were all Christians who prayed every day and night. Noone knows what happened so please do not speculate. This is hard enough fo the family as it is let alone come on here and see some postings. Thank you.

its the person with the gun that calls the shots i also think its a physco thing many people do this to prove a point ever hear "KILL THEM ALL AND LET GOD SORT EM OUT " that true in this case
