If you honestly believe that JC will EVER be able to afford to give you $25/hr, 90% employer-paid insurance, and guaranteed raises every year you are living in a complete and total state of denial! This isn't California. WV's economy is well below the national average (something I've pointed out in previous posts with links to data, etc.-obviously you didnt' read those, either). There simply isn't enough money to give YOU what YOU think YOU deserve.
Btw, raises tend to be given for doing a job well. Maybe you haven't received one because you don't care about your job. Maybe you complain about the calls you're dispatched. Maybe you only half-care about the patient because you "really didn't want this call anyway." Maybe you think that the world OWES you something and that comes across when you deal with your patients and coworkers. Maybe your whole attitude sucks because you don't feel like you get the respect you DESERVE. I've never even met you and I feel like that's a pretty good description of you. Just sayin'...
$25.00 an hour??? why don't you put $35.00 an hour and make us sound really greedy! We only want whats fair! A bump in wages and equal sleep time to name a few. We know the contract we get will be our strength and understand that voting with our local board to run our local union will be the tool that makes us strong. This union will ensure we get fair and equal representation! Something we DON'T get now.

Insider, show us some these BAD contracts you talk about. You can't produce any because you know that the contracts you will post will be 200% better than the conditions here. My challenge to you "Insider" post one of those contracts.

WV economy may be below the national average but JC fees are not, so it should make no difference.

Well Insider? Where are the bad contracts? Post them. Redbone is 100% right. You are afraid because no matter what contract you put up as "bad" as you describe it, is light years better than the conditions JC employees are working under now. JC employees would crawl through broken glass to get to the and of the NEMSA contracts if they read whats in them.

My, my, my! I don't even know where to begin! You obviously have not bothered to click on any of the previous links I've posted. If you had, you would have seen that NEMSA has PLEADED GUILTY to election fraud and was forced to hold new elections. For your sake, I'll post the links again. Start with the first one and work your way down. If you would like me to read them to you just let me know:

Seriously? I have seen you post this same junk over and over again. This is all you got? A union election controversy that the DOL filed a complaint on? Really? You making this your issue is like saying that because a person uses an inhaler they are going to go into full arrest any minute. To a lay person that knows nothing about unions or albuterol, each one sounds really believable and serious, but both are not even close. Your big overblown DOL issues you are using to try and convince people this NEMSA union is evil is in reality about as scary as the Tooth Fairy. Your mountain out of mole hill is actually better characterized as a mountain out of a pebble. And FYI DOL title 4 election proceedings do not have guilty pleas or fraud findings. Some advice I tell all my clients definitely applies to you: You are not a lawyer so don't try to act like one.

Here is a bit of union 101 for you and others wrapped around this DOL stuff. Number one the DOL and the NLRB are two different federal agencies. One deals with Union's internal workings (DOL), the other deals with Unions, employers and representation (NLRB) The DOL OLMS is responsible for enforcing Title 4 - Union election law. Title 4 issues are routine and is what the DOL OLMS does day in and day out. DOL staff are GSA employees who deal with these issues like a DMV worker deals with smog checks. Unlike the NLRB, the DOL OLMS does NOT have an enforcement arm attached to their agency, so instead of turning issues over to a compliance office like the NLRB does, the DOL has to file suit in federal court. Yes it is as stupid as it sounds and costs the tax payer a ton of money, but hey Lawyers and judges have to eat too. My point is, DOL Title 4 filings are nothing to get excited about and "insider" making it his central issue against is deceitful, dishonest and very disrespectful to every EMS worker that works for Jan Care because as I said earlier, he is playing everyone for a fool simply because labor law is not your expertise.....But luckily for everyone, it is mine (See next paragraph)

First some background: Among my many occupations, I am a former FireFighter Paramedic and Law Enforcement Officer, but currently I am in my 15th year as a "Union Avoidance" consultant. Thats right, I make my living on keeping unions out of companies. Part of my job is to do web research and I stumbled onto your little forum here. In reading the discussions I couldn't help but notice "insider" completely playing it as dishonestly as you can get.(BTW, if anyone was still wondering, insider is definitely a manager.) Be that as it may, the point is, its one thing to try and persuade a group, but playing intelligent people in a blatantly dishonest way simply because they are not familiar with labor doctrine, is like telling an old lady who stubbed her toe that she is going to die if she doesn't get in the ambulance. And while I am an Anti-Union consultant, I pride myself on factual persuasion, and treating the employees with total respect and honesty not lies and deceit. I will also tell you that while there are companies that do not need a union, there are definitely those that do NEED a union. If the "insider" is representative of the managers at Jan Care and I was an employee, I would be wanting the protections that come with the union.

BIG TOE
Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't realize that pro-union supporters are allowed and even encouraged to bring up Mark's death, but anti-union people are NOT allowed to respond in any way because that's "politicizing it." When YOU bring it up, it's "a valid point." When we counter that it was a tragic accident, we're "politicizing it." When you bring it up, it shows how Jan-Care "doesn't care about safety!" When we respond by saying that they had been on station for six hours and that they willingly took the call, we're "exploiting the tragedy!" When you say "a union contract would've saved Mark's life," it's completely tasteful and appropriate. When we counter by saying that a contract cannot prevent accidents (especially in this case where no safety concerns were raised by the crew anyway), then we are "sick and careless." Thank you so much for clearing that up!
All of you mak me absolutley sick. The comments about my brother, the comments about Jan-Care--All of it disgusts me.

If what I wrote hurt you or upset you in any way, I sincerely apologize. Honestly, I didn't know Mark very well, but my intention was never to trivialize his memory or what happened. I will not mention his name on these forums again and I do hope you can accept my apology.

I do not care who you are or what your think you know. There is no one in their right mind that would be willing to crawl through broken glass for a union contract. Everyone pro or con union is intelligent enough to see that is ridiculous. Please, do not lump everyone into your delusions of union grandeur.
