I have a child that loves the sport of soccer. The problem is the season is already over and he wants to keep playing. The corpus area has leagues starting up along with training camps but they are just too far to be driving back and forth. Does anyone know of any organizations or youth teams playing or practicing locally here in Kingsville?

how old is your child. KYSO has the traveling teams that go year around. I believe they begin at the age of 10 yrs old. They usually have tryouts posted in the paper.

He's actually 8 so I'm sure it would be tough to find some type of team or some sort of recreational play for him.

U10 is putting together a couple of teams for spring. Also, there is a training camp every Saturday at 4pm. The U10 teams will be playing in the corpus league, but it will allow 8 and 9 year olds to play.

Actually, there will be registration for non traveling boys and girls U10 next Saturday at the soccer complex at 4:00pm. See Bobby Barber, or Ken Howard. Travel teams will also be giving their info out as well. In addition, there will be weekly soccer skills training on Saturdays at 4:00pm for any age kids interested in keeping their skills up.

Thanks for the info guys! This may be a dumb question, so sorry, but where is the "soccer complex" where these practices are held?

The soccer complex is at the Dick Kleberg park.

Actually, only a certain few friends are allowed to join the U10 team. It is NOT open to the general public. There is NO soccer season for anyone in K-ville. There are not tryouts, so forget about it. Also, there is no such thing as a Saturday training, in spite of what the paper may say...

Really? I coach the U10 girls team playing in the corpus league. It was open to the public. As VP of the league, I personally made sure all the coaches (boys and girls) were contacted and put the info to their players. There are 13 U10 girls playing. We had practice today. The registration dates were in the paper. I placed the ad myself. There was also an article in the paper. The Saturday skills camp also happens because coach Suarez, Barber and myself are there every Saturday. I was there this past Saturday coaching, and I'll be there this Saturday. You are more than welcome to bring your child at 4. Please just make sure they are outfitted properly for play.

Wow! Is this for youth soccer in Kingsville, TX? I wasn't notified of any of this and my girl's coach doesn't know anything about this either! There's nothing in the KYSO website. My sister's been looking for a spring team for her boys also. Where can we all sign up?

I am sorry that your coach let you down. I personally emailed all the U10 coaches with spring soccer info. Keep in mind, this is U10 and above only. All other age groups are only fall soccer. I have a full compliment of girls for U10 rec soccer. In fact I have too many for one team and not enough for two. The boys only had six registered as of last Friday, so their spring season is in doubt. The KYSO board wants every child to play. With that being said, we can only give coaches info to send out because calling each player individually was not an option. I will be practicing my girls team at 5:30 this evening at the soccer complex at Dick Kleberg Park. Please stop by and discuss it with me there if you would like.
