Citizens of Farragut, you had better hope that you don't get these cameras. They don't improve safety and they are nothing but trouble for everyone.

I liked the article for mentioning the Red Light Hold option, which I hadn't heard of. I enjoyed reading up on it. On the face of it, it sounds like a great safety feature, but if it is activated by events that don't produce tickets when reviewed often enough to affect the flow of traffic, I think it may point out that the Redflex equipment is not quite ready for prime-time.

Don't get me wrong--I don't think that automated enforcement is inherently bad, just that the technology behind it should meet standards that the RLH problem with Redflex calls into question.

you're correct.
nothing is perfect right out of the box.
but it's a start.

i also like the idea of the cameras in school zones.
that's being an issue with the ones being pondered in oak ridge.

I haven't been there yet--one of the ways I manage on my tight budget is to spend almost no money going out. But now that you've put it back in mind, I'll give it a try during a more prosperous month.

It NEVER ceases to amaze me that the people who seem to whine most about these cameras are the ones who keep getting caught - repeatedly.

I guess they think they don't have to obey the law or be accountable for when they break it.

Maybe if these idiots tried setting their alarm clock 10 minutes earlier, took their lunch to work instead of going out and then racing back, and planned where they were going they could avoid running red lights and save gas and money too.

OOPS, just applied logic and common sense, something these people don't like.

I think cameras school zones and high traffic areas is just plain smart.

One so far.$50.00 was enough to train me to completely stop before turning right on red.
