I saw little opposition to the latest Kingston property tax rate increase to purchase and remodel a city municipal building at a stated cost of 2.5 MILLION DOLLARS. The city council traveled to Crossville and Lenior City to take a look at their municipal buildings, it's too bad they didn't take a look at their tax rates; they are much less than Roanes. Roane County and Kingston in particular are driving new residences away and current citizens (if you can even sell your house) out of Kingston with spiraling tax rate increases. The citizens of Kingston need to contact their council members and STOP this steady tax rate increase. In case no one has noticed the economy is in trouble and Kingston's answer to helping its citizens is to raise taxes and buy more property, equipment, vehicles and increase the payroll while the citizens try to cut household expenses to fund this government. Wake up people and stop this insanity, I don't think Troy Beets and company can take more of your money if we will put up some strong resistance. He has had his way for years and Kingston is looking worse than ever. The next thing you will see is a county tax increase for a new high school, something that could have been accomplished with the TVA money, had this county chosen to take that route instead of some other pet projects that recieved funding.
