Should Mayor Matt Brookshire Be Reelected?

Half the respondents this morning have said to eliminate the mayor's job if Brookshire is running unopposed.

I wonder how many politicians' jobs could be eliminated, nobody would notice, and the only impact would be the $aving$.

I'm stunned that 15 people think Bratt Matt should be reelected. Let's see.. that must be his mom,dad, any siblings, Littleton, Hurst, ole Freddie... and whoever else he called to take the poll. Surely there cannot be that many fools in Lenoir City otherwise.

Yes, he does do that sort of thing.
When the Loudon County New-Herald does their annual "favorites" poll, he actually campaigns for the "favorite elected official" honor by calling people and asking them to vote for him.

You can expect Brat-Matt to make a comeback poll showing. The problem, of course, is that he has to direct his supporters to this webpage. They might start reading it then (heh, heh!).

The problem with Lenoir City Government is how Matt Brookshire can allow his pals to run the city into the ground. Look at the police department. Chief Don White has promoted people who failed supervisor exams to supervisory positions. He has stood by and allowed officers to violate civil rights, racially profile, and abuse their K9 partner without batting an eye. It is amazing that in 2008 a person with as little education and real law enforcement experience as Chief White has can be allowed to run a police department, just because he was pals with the mayor in high school.

Thank you, Protect and Serve, for giving us the truth. I think it's pretty clear what your occupation is, from the pseudonym you are using. You are obviously in a position to know what you are talking about.

When Don White was made chief, they made it sound like he had an extremely impressive resume. Supposedly he had been "on loan to a federal agency", etc.

Besides being the mayor's high school pal, he also seems to have some financial & business/property interests is common with some city officials.

Yes Sir! The mayor hires all his high school friends at the city and his father-in-law hires all of their family at LCUB. They both need to go and maybe this town will be straightened out. The city has never been in worse shape as it is now. They think that a skating park and a swimming pool has made Matt unbeatable but I am one to get around town and I hear what they say about the almighty Matt. He should not try to run for office because he is going to be embarrassed when he sees the results in the November city election.

Protect and Serve - Besides being the mayor's high school chum, Don White has at least one other qualification for being chief of police.
He's business partners with city attorney Shannon Littleton.

They are joint-owners of at least three (3) properties in Loudon County:
1. 1005 East Broadway (Healthy Life Chiropractic)
2. 400 West Broadway
3. a Brookview Road address

I guess they figure that compensates for a lack of education and experience.

The only way White could have been friends with Brookshire in school would be if he were held back several years (which obviously wasn't the case!) and secondly you people must be BORED out of your freaking minds to try (with NO success) run these accomplished men into the ground! There's nothing "accomplished" about Littleton, unless you consider settling every lawsuit against the city out-of-court to cover his ineptness a great achievement.

If you want to protect Mika's reputation, I'd suggest you tell the city employees to quit referring to him, and addressing him, by that nickname "The Sheister".(Include department heads and city councilmen.)

In late May one of our city councilmen walked into General Sessions Court, spotted Littleton, and blathered out "THERE'S OUR SHEISTER LAWYER!" loud enough for everyone there to hear.

Another suggestion would be if Mika didn't tolerate it (i.e. "I'd appreciate it if you'd not call me that"). He has enough rank in your administration that this only goes on because he allows it to go on.

I just love how you guys continue to threaten their jobs!! You guys have been doing it for years. REALIZE that these young men are the bright FUTURE of this city and you old folks need to get over it! Matt, Don, Shannon are all GREAT, SMART, HARD WORKING people and they are very well respected in this town by A LOT of people who do not read your rubbish. Personally, I don't even know why I waste my time. I guess I better find myself a more fulfilling hobby. One that is more CHRISTIAN and not so dehumanizing. Maybe you guys should try the same!

Don is an ok fellow but Matt and Shannon need to be taught how to treat people. It makes me wonder who their parents are. Weren't they taught anything at home? I would be ashamed to have raised these two boys the way they treat people.
