1 Our economic system IS capitalist and has done pretty good for an awful long time, thank you. But even if I'm wrong, please tell me what your comment has to do with the price of gas. And, if you are so concerned, do you support drilling the energy we have right here at home instead of buying it somewhere else? |

I thought the high gas prices were all Bush's fault!

1 When talking about hijacking and our economic system, I would point more towards Government then "Capitalism". Tell me an issue we are dealing with today that doesn't involve the Dopey Government? Gas- cafe standards, refusal to use our own resources instead of those who want to kill us, complacency in allowing new sources of energy (Obviously both parties are to blame), how about the Housing Bubble- governments forcing banks to loan to people who cannot afford it, and continuing to try to force banks to do it again today (Valerie Jarrett/Chamber of Commerce Rep. Frank/banks). How about our health care? too much regulation? how about the H1N1 vaccine, man that sure is taking a bit longer than our HHS sect has said it would. Government, yes, that's the answer for me! Don't point your finger at the free market capitalism, look right at D.C. |

What I can not figure out is why Minnesota has so much in price swings when we import our gas from Canada?

1 1. The 148 boutique blends of fuel mandated by state and local authorities was reduced to two -- a winter and a summer blend? 2. If it was not necessary to blend ethanol into the fuel as an oxygenator? It is more expensive than gasoline, more difficult to handle within the distribution system (you can't put it in a pipeline), reduces mpg and doesn't accomplish it's original purpose of cleaner burning. Note that, at the same time, this would make corn and all foodstuffs cheaper, as well. 3. If overdrawn environmental laws didn't keep the industry from drilling in other sites known to contain oil (ANWR, off the coasts) and, at the same time, make it impossible to build new refineries -- so that we have to import finished product? Want to whine about the price of gasoline? Whine at the people who made it expensive in the first place. The price of oil is increasing for two reasons. Demand is increasing and the dollar is falling. The oil companies have no control over either of those factors. |
