I bet we are the only state that has so many 35 and 45 mph speed limits on four lane highways ? Good source of income for the state.
It's just safer on roads like Volunteer Parkway with so many shopping centers & fast food stops.

Some Cities Claim Traffic Cameras Distract Police Officers
While some Tennessee cities are ending their use of red light traffic cameras, others like Clarksville feel the cameras have modifying bad driving habits. Mount Juliet ended the use of the cameras explaining that the citations sent too much money to the Arizona based contractor. Red Bank turned their cameras off but Gallatin police say traffic accidents have dropped more than 31 percent since they installed their four traffic cameras back in 2006. Some city leaders think the cameras have been a distraction for police officers.

The article was deleted. This deletion is the epitome of corruption. Some local mayor or someone getting kickbacks from the cameras likely used their influence over the news agency to pull the article. Vote different or enjoy living a life of ignorant opression.

I just clicked on it and the article is there. Maybe it was just a temporary glitch?

I would like to see these cameras on every traffic light in the nation. I have driven since 1969 and never got a ticket because I OBEY THE LAW!

Running a red light is reckless driving and should carry a $5,000 fine AND your insurance company should be notified that you are reckless so your premiums can be rased

I'm sure you would like one shoved up your arse to monitor your health as well. Gotta stay safe, ya know! If insurance has to pay for our malfunctions, whether in traffic or with our health, then government certainly has the right to....wait, what's the connection there again? Oh that's right - GREED. And swallowed by the likes of you, hook, line and sinker.

Obey Law - shooting out peoples' tires is not obeying any law you stupid liberal.

And which people get their tires shot out - the ones that ran the light a millisecond after it turned red or the ones who ran it five seconds after it turned red?

I am NOT a liberal; I am a super conservative that believes that breaking the law (any law) should have severe punishment, especially reckless driving.

Shooting out your tires takes you off the road and saves others.

Well of course you'll forgive the accusation given you used a very liberal argument suggesting that I am running lights and putting your life at risk while suggesting an equally extreme tire-shooting consequence which is pretty much NOT going to happen. EVER.(Unless you seriously intend to do it once then spend the rest of your life in prison - in which case I call one giant pile of BULL$HIT) So, yes - liberal.

So you're saying equal punishment for someone who is a human (that's assuming YOU NEVER make mistakes) and had a temporary distraction and got under the light a little late and never came close to endangering anyone is as guilty as some moron who blows the light by several seconds? Really? Is that what a police officer would say as well?

That's one of the problems - there is no justice. Just like blowing a speed camera by 10mph or 100mph also results in the same fine.

Also, the interpretation of law had to be twisted in order for these money grabbers to be set up in the first place, as in - running a red light used to be a moving violation. But with a moving violation, an officer must be present. So for the cameras to operate, they redefined running a camera enforced intersection as a "civil liability". They skirted the law to generate revenue using a private for-profit business on taxpayers' roads.

And you're ok with that are you? I'm with you on someone who runs a light several seconds late and should have known better. Fire away. But the majority of revenue is from those who barely ran the light and never came close to causing an accident. That is not justice. That's closer to tyranny.

John, you dont understand. These things issues cites for things that normally are not considered a violation. They also shorten the time the yellow light remains lit so that more people are caught "running" a red light. These machines are a SCAM and cause more accidents. Officers usually enforce the spirit of the law. These machines enforce the letter of the law. The machines need to be outlawed.
I agree with him, DON'T BREAK THE LAW AND YOU GOT NO PROBLEMS!

ONLY the GUILTY are against these cameras. I think they should be required on EVERY RED LIGHT in the nation!

I just hope that you folks who voted for that psycho timothy hill have not unleashed another keith westmoreland on the children of nashville.

You all remember keith dont you, good personal friend of ron ramsey and all local republicans and a pedophile.

Ive actually wondered over the years if Keith actually committed suicide or if he were killed by some of his sullivan county political buddies.

Who knows where a court trial and investigation would have gone.

durrr - because only a liberal resorts to extremes like shooting tires out when people disagree with them.

Lawful - maybe we should mount them on public roads in front of peoples' houses too. You ain't doing anything wrong, you ain't got nothing to fear. While your at it, bend over and drop your drawers...this won't hurt a bit.
