Thanks for the people we elected in Nashville. Cameras are not for safety just money for the cities that have them. I hope they can get the cameras removed. i HAVE NEVER GOT A TICKET by running a light. Ever one to drive by the laws we have on the books and let the police issue tickets for speeding, reckless driving, more road check to make sure people has INSURANCE

You are correct. The studies show that extending the caution light time by just a few seconds does more to prevent accidents and rear end accidents occur more with the cameras. How long will it take till insurance companies have computer access to this info on tickets and then increase your insurance rates. Everyone of voting age should contact their Law Makers and let them know either this use of cameras gets repealed or we will vote a new person in to fill their offices.

You are all correct. I have sent emails and made calls to Jason Mumpower, Ron Ramsey, Tony Shipley, and all. We must pursue them to get a law written to make these cameras illegal. Tony Shipley said that he will pursue this and I have told him that if they do restrict them that I want to make sure they do not "grandfather" any of the existing ones in.
Everyone please call and email your representative and urge them to do the same. It is our only option.

Hernando,
Its people like you that just don't understand. All high and mighty. It isn't about being wild and speeding and running lights. It isn't about safety either. It is about our legal rights. We are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Not guilty until proven innocent. I don't run the lights or speed myself. Never got a ticket, yet anyways. However these camera's are unconstitutionally wrong and will lead to a lot worse for us if we continue to allow them to persist. They are money generators pure and simple. I am all for safety but this isn't the answer. If safety was a concern then they would add another second to yellow. But they refuse to do that. The City of Kpt has so much revenue being generated by these cameras they are now depending on it and spending every dollar of it too. They are hooked on these cameras like a drug addict on crack. If you are going to talk about the camera's do it intelligently. Also about safety, there are way more rear end collisions on Fort Henry Dr after the cameras than before. It has nothing to do with safety now, it is money and unconstitutional.

I was crossing the Winchester and Hickory Hill intersection one night a few weeks ago, the light turned yellow as I entered the intersection and then red as I passed under the stop light. I saw the flash of a camera in my rearview and I may need to check my neglected mailbox to see if they gave me a ticket. I hope nobody is really fooled into thinking that these cameras are some kind of deterrent. But even with that said, those tag readers on the top of police cars scare me more than the stop light cameras. Big brother is moving in.

you know guys, if a bunch of people would take pictures of the mayor's license plate or the police chief and blow em up to license plate size and lamanate em and put them on their cars and run those lights. when mr mayor or mr police chief gets a dozen tickets, them cameras will be gone in a week.

note. it's just a silly idea. it is in no way, shape, form or fashion intended to get anyone to break the law

Miss Chievous,
You are an absolute genius. I love it! Where is our good ole redneck population at now? In my day these cameras would have already been removed by a shotgun or pickup truck. Todays generation is so lazy. If I was only 20 years younger....

Your idea is great. Hey what about a can of spraypaint? Hummmm.....

These cameras are coming down legally or not.

Reckless drivers are a bigger threat to each of us than all other criminals put together. I'm sick of these criminal coddlers telling us speeders and red light runners are not real criminals.

I am not talking about speeders. Do you really think that people who do speed or run a red light or more dangerous than crack dealers, murderers, rapists, arsonists, child molesters , etc?
You certainly are freak. Do doubt speed is a safety issue and so is running red lights. I am not recommending anarchy here. I am simply stating our police force needs to be involved, not robots. If you were really concerned with safety you would see that adding an extra second to the yellow light is a much better idea. Oh but that would make any money would it?
Go ahead and smoke your crack but be sure to stop at the red light now. Wouldn't want you to get hurt now.

I wouldnt have much of a prob with the cameras if they made sure that the person that was driving was the one that paid the fine. As it is, though, the owner of the car is the one that has to pay the fine.
What ever happened to innocent untill proven guilty and PERSONAL responsibility.
And to the dude from englewood, if you think speeders are worse than crack dealers, you're a freakin IDIOT.

John, you dont understand. These things issues cites for things that normally are not considered a violation. They also shorten the time the yellow light remains lit so that more people are caught "running" a red light. These machines are a SCAM and cause more accidents. Officers usually enforce the spirit of the law. These machines enforce the letter of the law. The machines need to be outlawed.

I bet we are the only state that has so many 35 and 45 mph speed limits on four lane highways ? Good source of income for the state.
