I was in the store a few weeks ago and i found the staff especially the manager to be so hateful.. I was looking for a certain book and the staff looked it up but wasn't sure about it.. so she asked the manager the name started with a D, and she wasn't friendly at all!!!

i had a similar issue when i went to return a book. But i had to deal with the other girl. I have been a shopper there since they opened but i am starting to think that Amazon is the place to go.

Yes, she walks around like she has an attitude. She looks pissed all the time. I don't thk i ever seen her smile and i use to work there (johnson city store). Smoking sure doesn't help her. She has aged alot in a short time. I just order off amazon now.

Can't speak for the BAM in Kingsport - never been there.
But I have gotten sick and tired of shopping at the John City BAM (next to Target).
Every time I wanted to buy a book(s) from there, I'd have to listen to the sales clerk go into a longwinded pre-ringup speech - "would you be interested in signing up to be a member, would you be interested in memebr discounts, would you be interested in this, would you be interested in that".
Sheesh! If I wnated to know anything beyond a purchase, or if I was interested in an potential deals, I would simply ask!
My point is - Just ring me up the total costs - I'll pay quickly - then I wan to get the heck out of there and complete some other daily tasks.

(...sorry for the 'short' blabbing comment here).

There are several managers that have attitudes. The one in JC is worse than the one in Kspt, although she is no saint "D". I wish BAM head dogs would send a secret shopper in just to see how she treats em. I think its a self issue. LOL

Yeah I've been in there too. I agree.
I'd also like to see someone from the BAM HQ to send in one of their own on an 'undercover' customer shopping experience - then they'll get the full picture(hopefully).

yal i know her to. I quit cause her and her sucky attitude. Grouchy witch. If she treated her employees with respect she wouldn't have a problem keeping them. I hear she's hiring AGAIN. LOL

Got turned off by BAM last year. Like the above poster indcated, they're too friggin interested in trying to sell or solicit you with crap whenever you try to check out and buy a book or something.
I just wnat to approach the counter, have them tell me what I owe them, and then pay. That's it! Don't want to hear any promos or discount crap!
I'll stick with B&N if I need to purchase anything.
