Unemployment for both women and African-Americans is higher today than it was when President Barack Obama first took office in 2009, according to federal government data.

Despite an economy that has technically been in recovery since June of 2009, many economic indicators are the same or worse than when President Obama gave his first address to a Joint Session of Congress in February 2009.

“We will rebuild, we will recover, and the United States of America will emerge stronger than before,” Obama said in that speech.

However, employment for African-Americans and women has not recovered and, in fact, is worse today than it was when Obama said those words.

At the end of January 2009, 12.7 percent of African-Americans were unemployed. Four years later, January 2013, the situation was worse, with unemployment higher at 13.8 percent.

Further, an additional 1.2 million African-Americans had left the workforce entirely during the same time period, with the number of those reported as not in the workforce rising from 10.3 million in January 2009 to 11.5 million in January 2013.

People not in the labor force are those who are younger than the retirement age who are unemployed and no longer looking for work, indicating they have either given up looking for work or gone into early retirement.

For women, the story is not much better. In January 2009, 6.9 percent of women in America were unemployed. By January 2013, 7.8 percent of women were unemployed.

Similarly, the number of women who had left the workforce and given up hope of finding a job grew in the four years since President Obama promised to rebuild and recover. In January 2009, 4.9 million women were not counted in the labor force – by 2013, that figure had risen to 5.4 million.

I will give you same reply. When idiotazz libbysocialist have nothing to combat facts with they bring up Fox News which I haven't watched in 6 months. Next up----the race card, but I am quite a big supporter of Ben Carson, so that won't work. Then if all that fails just blame George Bush.....

We have Obama because these people vote:

http://youtu.be/3gXOV_XWJck

You can find plenty of things to criticize about any president, especially in recent history. And in my opinion Obama has more issues to criticize than any of them. But point any one of those issues out to an Obama zealot and suddenly it's see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

They can't answer to a single valid point against their messiah at all and use all the usual tactics possible to throw you off the subject - "you must listen to Fox, the election is in the past..." Hypocrites all of them. Maybe we should give each of them a Nobel Peace Prize as well. They deserve it about as much as Obummer did.

(Of course that's about as strange as a conservative supreme court justice kicking the Constitution to the curb by voting in favor of Obamacare on the basis that "penalty" must be a synonym for "tax".)

I think most black people just voted a color into office. Maybe they just thought they were making history or maybe they thought he could do something for them. Maybe it was because many non-whites saw another color besides white running for president for the first time so on that basis alone, voted for the non-white. But one thing is clear: the longer he is in office, the more I see people finally admitting to his incompetence.

That article has grossly squewed the facts and numbers. I'm not sure wher eit came from but it probably using data gathered from a third party and is therefore biased. Its clearly not refrencing the data collected by the govt. I can see why this article wod strike. Anerve but its best to compile data from several sources before flying off the handle, that way you stay well informed.

The article doesn't shower Obama in pixie dust praise so it must be wrong - LOL.

And by the way, stating statistics shall now be redefined as "flying off the handle". Geez.

Hold your taters a second. I'm not sitting here showering praise on obama, I just stated that the statistics are incongruent with regular sources of statistics. I point out an error and suddenly I'm a "libby". You're all very funny.

OK, what are your regular source of statistics? You just have one source you trust? Where have you seen statistics that address these groups that say otherwise?

There is a pretty straightforward reason why unemployment is high in the African American community: history has shown time and time again that these people are lazy and do not want to go to work. Period.

There are plenty of jobs out there right now, companies are begging to hire people, and in fact, companies cannot find enough qualified people to hire. There is a huge hiring shortage right now. You wouldn't know that if you listened to the morons on MSNBC.

So why is unemployment still so high under Obama even when companies are all hiring? Because blacks would rather stay home collecting a check than to take a job that is beneath their station.

Now I don't think it is fair to blame Obama for the fact that black people do not want to work, it is in their nature to be lazy, and for the most part black people are nothing but trouble. And it doesn't have anything to do with their skin color, so don't pull the race card on me dummy. Blacks are the way they are because this is what happens when you are raised in a broken home by a single mother and your father is in jail for dealing crack. When little black children are constantly exposed to depravity, they turn into depraved black adults. And then I am the one getting called a racist just for pointing out the truth???

You know what I blame Obama for? The fact that he is "fundamentally transforming" the whole United States into this economical model, where everyone is self-entitled, where everyone is reliant on the government for their existence, where the whole United States is just like Chicago and Detroit.

Its all trickle down folks! Raise taxes. Impose healthcare purchase or py fine\ tax. See how it will help the economy. Not.
