Well, things don't look good for Circuit City staying. The company announced that they were closing stores this week. Locations have yet to be determined. But being since that the phone system in the Kingsport store hasn't been working properly for months, I fully expect this store to be closed.

I read an article online about how Circuit City is considering closing at least 150 stores, however nothing is set yet for sure. If they do close 150 stores though it wouldn't surprise me to see the Kingsport store on the closure list.

The Circuit City in Kingsport just isn't that nice and it's sort of run down as well. I really think that when Best Buy opens next year Circuit City will be closing not long after.

Honestly i hope that it doesnt close because think about it if you have competition you have lower prices. Whats the point in one store closing and another opening when you could have two similar stores buy two different companies. I would guess that the Kingsport store wouldnt be affected because im sure being the only store in the area they have pretty good sales from people in Virginia and Kingsport area. Look at what we have on Cable TV one company higher prices! This would be the same concept no matter how much you dislike circuit city it could always be a bargaining tool.

I love Circuit City and I hope it can stay too, but it would be fun to see competition with them and Best Buy.

I also think Staples should be part of the Pavilion because the only office store we have in Kingsport is Office Depot. I would like to see a Bed Bath and Beyond go in there, though

I personally don't like Circuit City but I would like to see them NOT close down the Kingsport location. I agree competition is good. However the Circuit City in Kingsport I think is already struggling.

Circuit City as a whole is struggling especially in this recession we are in now. Add to the fact that the Kingsport location is a small store that is somewhat ran down, understaffed at times, and has a limited selection.

I just think Circuit City in Kingsport is on borrowed time and when Best Buy opens next year that will finish them off.

Well, Daniel, you do have a point. Best Buy has a whole lot to offer. Circuit City use to sell appliances, but now they have electronics, and Best Buy will have appliances, but very little. The point is that Best Buy can do a better job than Circuit City ever did, but I don't want to see this location close its doors either.

I went to Circuit City Sunday and I have something to say: Circuit City won't stand a chance next year or in a few months. They didn't have many choices on CD stockage or any PS2 or PS3 games. They might as well prepare to close soon and make way for Best Buy.

There's a lot going on now. Best Buy is still looking good, they've already dug up a little bit across the street, and they're still working on the strip mall, but they still haven't said what's going to be there. I wish they'd hurry up and get something done.

I believe Circuit City's biggest problem is they apparently have no want to compete with others, starting with Best Buy and going on down the line. Circuit City dosent seem to have as much interest in keeping prices in-line as other major retailers. That being said i have a feeling our Circuit City is probably low on the totem pole once you consider every other store in the country. Its a older store and is small to begin with, the inventory is horrible. I gave up on circuit city for video games long ago. I don't expect the Kingsport Circuit City to close as a result of a Best Buy, if anything it may help it some. Because of lack of choice most people i know go to JC even for the smallest electronic need. Often times you may not find what you're looking for and you will find it at Circuit City, obviously you'll get it there. I know the last few purchases ive made at Circuit City has been in JC. With the opening of a Best Buy it will keep people here and hopefully boost business at Circuit City, it will also help if Staples ever goes in at the pavilion.

One of the things going in across from the pavilion is Eastman Credit Union, I had heard from people that its going there i jsut didnt know it was certain until now, there's a sign in front of the site. I suppose ive been watching the Best Buy and haven't noticed. It looks to me like there's room for atleast 2-3 buildings there so who knows what else will go in.

Just wanted to let you know that my prophecy on ECU heading over to the Pavilion was correct. Look at post 40 under Joe B about the CU nugget that I secured from ECU. The location from the post is the same as all of my early posts.

Nate, you do have a point, the place is so small, and like I said, I went Sunday and I think that it didn't look at all neat and orderly. The games were all mixed up, and there wasn't many games. The place just looked confusing. I'm about at a point where I'd give up on them too.

This is actually old news, but, I will mention it here. The deal with Staples locating at the Pavilion is off. There was a conflict between the developers of the Pavilion and Staples over the front of the building and Staples bailed. Staples would still like to located in Kingsport, however, it will not be at the Pavilion location unless developers agree to allow Staples to have the front of the building solid red.

PS - This was told to me by a Staples representative and confirmed by a ranking Kingsport official several months ago.

PETCO is still planned, however, no deal has been inked yet or it would have been announced.

Circuit City just announced they are closing 155 stores. Luckily at least for now the Kingsport and JC store are not on the store closings list. Below is a list of the stores closing.

Well, I just got news, the Cootie Brown's is still going to be an Olive Garden, that's good, and Fazoli's is closing down and gonna make way for a Red Lobster. Has anyone else heard about this besides of the fact that Olive Garden is going to be at Cootie Brown's

I've also heard that the cootie brown's building will become an Olive Garden. I haven't heard anything about Fazoli's closing down though and a Red Lobster being built there.

Red Lobster has been coming to Kingsport for 15 years. I hate to be a pessimist but I'll believe it when I see it.

lol... That's how I feel too Ray. I've been hearing for over 5 years that Red Lobster is going somewhere in Kingsport. Each time at a new location and what's been said has turned out to never be true.

I am not going to believe anything I hear about Red Lobster in Kingsport until it's confirmed as being true in the Times News.

Yeah, if only they would say something about the closure of Fazoli's and a Red Lobster being there. A long time ago, at the Walgreens on Stone Drive, I thought that it was going to be a Red Lobster, but I guess we can't get what we want.

Has anyone been down to the Pavilion to see if Best Buy is looking better, or if they have done anything to the Decorators Warehouse? It should be almost done since they say that they want to try to open before Christmas.
