Will he ever even get to play for a state championship? He's going on about 20 years.....for a school who prides itself on football they sure have allowed this clown to stay around a long time!

When I lived there Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett had more pride than to let a joker hang around this long with any championships....

The narcissist sent out Christmas cards that said 'I despise losing' on them carrying out his own agenda. He bullies kids that are not athletic and you're all correct he is the issue with db losing in the end every year. It's the good ol boy Kingsport politics. Ryan Wagner is just as bad and hits on all the young girls at db constantly. Too bad he is too arrogant and selfish to have his own daughter. He will never know how it feels to have your daughter ogled by a teacher like him. What's worse is he thinks he's the stud of Kingsport.

He will find a way to lose in the playoffs because they are not prepared mentally for the playoffs. I have seen this for years. It is getting old and he needs to understand that his jokes can get him so far. It is pretty sad when you are wondering not how good we will be each and every year, but how we will lose in the playoffs.

ever consider your athletes are the ones breaking down ?

thats what I see .... they bump their heads against more talented, harder working kids .

KPT is hardly the " powerhouse" of yore and ya'll may as well get used to it.

across the board, KPT isnt what it once was

I felt the same way for a while last year after the playoff loss too and even had a long discussion on FaceBook about it with a lot of people and decided that all of those people could not be wrong so I took some time and talked to some of the players and their parents about Mr. Clark and losing in the playoffs. What I found out was that Graham Clark is a great mentor to the kids and a great teacher and a great asset to the community. All of the parents and kids that I talked to love him. Then to beat it all the very next night in church my pastor talked about judging other people of all things. After that I made a formal apology to the people on FaceBook but most importantly an apology to his son and his family and Dobyns- Bennett High School. After that night in church it was very clear in my mind that it was not up to me to judge other people. There is not another person in Kingsport that would love to see a state championship more than myself and I don't think you will find a bigger Dobyns-Bennett football fan than myself... BUT, I would not trade a great mentor and a great teacher for the kids for a state championship each and every year. The life lessons that the kids learn from Graham Clark are worth more than all of the state championships put together. Now this is nothing more than my opinion for whatever that is worth and yes I understand it won't be worth very much to a lot of you But like myself I'm highly doubt-ful that most everyone that is talking about how bad a coach Graham Clark is has never coached a High-school football game in their life must less an important playoff game. Like I said before, After last years loss I was mad and felt the same way for a while. But I now hope Graham Clark is the head football coach at Dobyns-Bennett as long as he wants to be in the game because in today's world we need all of the best mentors and teachers for our kids that we can get. Say what you want about me, I could care less. What God thinks of me is what counts to me. And I refuse to high behind some made up screen name. My name is Bill Parker, I have lived in Kingsport, Tn. since the day I was born. So take your best shot if that's what floats your boat and you don't have anymore of a life than that. But before you do, Sit and think for a minute and ask yourself how you would liked to be judged in an open forum for the world to see like you are doing Coach Graham Clark. (ROLL TRIBE)

And yes after re-reading my post I noticed that I miss-spelled a couple of words. One day I might try spell check and see how that works. God Bless each and every one of you no matter what your opinion is. We all need that.

To Bill Parker
There is no reason Dobyns Bennett High School should accept the performance of Graham Clark. There are many other coaches who build character and are able to develop talent. George Quarles at Maryville comes to mind. Gary Rankin at Alcoa has done it in Murfreesboro and Alcoa. Graham Clark is a "homeboy" who has been allowed to hang around because the rest of the home boys just like you accept mediocre performances.....

This proves exactly what I said. Dobyns-Bennett was once a powerhouse. Now they are just mediocre. They have their "local boy" coach and the other "local boys" who run the show don't have the "gonads" to fire him and try to get better. Dobyns Bennett has the facilities/tradition to become a state powerhouse again. They just don't have the coaching and have lost the D-B pride!

LOL ... yeah !! last state champs in what ,'64 ? Only a string of championships in the '40's ??

Hell, you realize thats a span of 50 years ? You realize Graham isnt that old ?

DB is ONLY a power locally. Be happy with that. Graham has put out some great records and great players. Be proud of that. But realize the facts and move on.

Thank you for continuing to make my point...50 years since a state championship and the last 20 under the same coach.... I guess you are one the ones to says we don't have to strive for championships? Phil Fulmer won the eastern divion 4 years before he was fired. So go ahead and accept Clark's average performances, I guess that's good enough for you and the good ole boys of K-town. But how does Maryville, Alcoa, Murfreesboro continue to play for championships....is that luck, I would say it was coaching, or should I say lack of coaching.

It is way past time for the man to win on a STATE LEVEL & not just locally. He is well known to recruit his players from other school zones & players that are good enough & want more exposure will go to D.B. to play. At this point, I would refer to him as King Sh*t on Turd Island & this is only based on his coaching history & nothing else at all. Greeneville winning the State Championship a few years back does not help either. D.B. is supposed to be the premier football school from Northeast Tennessee & every year that they get out of the Tri Cities they choke or get embarrassed. Science Hill Basketball has earned their right to be mentioned in the Top Brass for the State of Tennessee. D.B. Football still has not earned their right to even be discussed outside of the Tri Cities. Great local coach, but deserves no mention or discussion at all on the State level. Nothing against the man personally, speaking of my opinions on his record as a Head Coach, at a good school with awesome athletic facilities & fantastic talent pool to pull from. What if Stacy Carter is able to build Science Hill into a Football Power & win one before Clark? After all, this is what George Pitts did to Buck Van Huss & Steve Shipley & took the prestige away from D.B. basketball completely. George Pitts won the games he was not supposed to & won them with less talent on his way to State Championships. Point of note: I did not attend or play ball at either of these schools, but I played for a good rival school in both sports mentioned. D.B. is too good of an historic, athletic school to not have gone any further in the State than they have.

Two turds One hole : What is not to understand? I specifically stated that it was my opinion & nothing against him personally. Also, after the local conference play is over I believe that everybody starts pulling for the local teams. I have children as well that play sports & could possibly attend D.B. in the near future. Pride in our local athletics & how our area appears & performs on the state level is my vested interest. If D.B. is the best football program our area has to offer, then how are we standing up to state level talent? My neighbor, who is a past D.B. football standout, also fuels the fire a little I guess. I have no intention of "lynching the man" as you state, I just believe he needs some hardware to be named a great coach & get state recognition. Any more questions? If so, just ask.

Wow, really? Who cares if they win? You must not be a sports fan or value competitive sports at all & if so, then why even check out this blog? In sports you are simply judged by wins & losses & any teams ultimate goal is to be the very best. That is just sports, or how it used to be. Today, we give kids trophies for finishing in last place & then tell them how great they did. If Clark does win a Championship, then it would validate his career & there would never be any more discussions like this blog about how good he really is. It is just a fact, & I hope the man wins one so he can "get the monkey off of his back". Competitive sports are all about winning & the prestige that comes with it. Coach Clark is a really good High School football coach, & I would love to see him win one so he could then be called a great High School football coach. Also, who cares? The fans in the stands, the boosters, the athletes who play, the parents of the athletes, the coaching staff, the student body, the city of the High School, etc..
