if you have a small dog DO NOT take it to them. My friends small dog was killed by a lab. She was told that her 5 month old puppy would never be exposed to larger dogs and a dog got it by the neck and killed it. Now she will have to explain to her young daughter that her puppy was killed

How much do they charge? Is it by size or what? Discount for multiple dogs?

Who is your friends lawyer? Also I would have her lawyer demand to view videos.

I don't believe that(encourage fights) I heard from someone who works at Kingsport location that the dog was old and feeble, not a puppy. I hear it it a great place for dogs to go for kenneling and day care. A co-worker takes his dogs there all the time and loves it. I also personally know someone who works at the facility. The dogs are well taken care of and watched. The employees are animal lovers.

I know for a FACT that this is not true. The number of dogs who have been hurt or killed at this place is mind boggling. I know someone who works there. These people DO NOT know what they're doing. If you have had a good experience with them, count yourself lucky. I would NEVER, EVER take my dog to them. EVER.

So let me get this straight...if the dog was "old and feeble" it somehow makes it okay, or 'not as big a deal' that it was killed by another dog while being "well taken care of and watched"?????

There will be no lawsuit. Any dog daycare worth their salt has the owner sign a waiver for their dog. At least every place I have ever taken my dog to has. So sorry.

I have taken my dog to Camp Ruff-N-More about 5 times. After every visit, she acted funny and one time she even flinched when we would go to pet her, like she was afraid we were going to hit her. That is when I vowed I would take her there again. This past weekend, the vet clinic where we've been taking her was booked so I reluctantly ended up taking her back to Camp Ruff-N-More. When we got home after picking her up on Sunday she had two areas around her neck where it looked like they had bathed her but hadn't gotten all of the shampoo out of her hair. I went to wash it out the next day and realized it wasn't shampoo, but clumps of ointment that they had put on two completely red, raw spots that hurt her when we touched anywhere near them. There ended up being a total of 3 and all around her neck. I was furious becauase obviously something had happened and they knew about it and didn't mention anything to us. I took pictures and went in to talk to the owner, who offerend no explanation except that the dogs "play hard" and that he was sorry. He even offered me a free day stay next time we bring her there - as if I'm ever bringing her back again! I just wanted to post this to warn anyone thinking about leaving their pet with them. I'm sure most of their employees love animals and treat them well, but I have no doubt that isn't always the case and that they aren't honest with their customers about what happens while they are there.

Like Campworker said, it would be nearly impossible to keep all the dogs from fighting or rough housing and possibly getting scratched up. I have 2 dogs and they do it all the time.. Playing and one of em gets pissed and its on.. It happens and all they can do is get there and stop as quickly as possible. Next time take your pet with you.. Even kids get hurt at daycare centers. Just part of it when you are in a group of different personalities and temperments.

My dog got kennel cough from here and I heard from a coworker that her dog got attacked and was never informed. They give you the option to call in and check up on your dog, but they only say "they're doing great and there hasn't been any fights!" I treat my dog like family, if I want to call and check on my dog, I want the people watching her to get off their lazy butt and check on her. Dogs do fight on occasion if they're not well trained, but, it's the businesses place to inform the owners and take care of it responsibly. But they don't!

This place is a joke and a piece of shit. There are much better (AND SAFER) places in the area to kennel your dogs.

Maybe if you took care of your dog and got it the kennel cough vaccine (Bordetella), it wouldn't have gotten it. They say when you take your dog in they need proof of rabies, bordetella and distemper. It's your responsibility as an owner to get off your lazy butt and keep your dog's vaccines up to date.

I have taken Grace to Ruff N More in Johnson City for over 4 years now. I have utilized them for Day Care and also for longer stays. She is an anxious rescue dog with chronic separation anxiety. When I take her in to Ruff N More, though, she is happy to go in, tail wagging, and doesn't even look back at me. I believe that she is happy, and very well cared for there. I am very discerning after taking her to Cool School for Dogs when she was a puppy....I recommend Camp Ruff N More.

I actually do work there and in johnson city, I can tell you for a fact we do NOT encourage fights! That's a ridiculous claim. The teacup yorkie puppy, that was less than a pound, snuck in with the big dogs and there was nothing anyone could do. And yes it is boring (try to imagine sitting for 5 hours watching 30+ dogs walk around and do dog things and every now and then pick up poop), but we don't WANT them to fight because we have to break it up and sometimes get hurt ourselves. Watching over that many dogs is hard, we can't possibly see what every dog is doing, not to mention a lot of them have no training and youre lucky if some answer to their name. I can promise you that none of us here want bad things to happen to them, and many of the dogs we love as if they were our own! Fights happen, sometimes they play too hard and get hurt, sometimes they even hurt themselves, and we do everything we can to prevent it, but as the old saying goes, "shit happens".
Wow you should not work with precious dogs! You are bored and tired of watching these dogs!!!! I was thinking about boarding my white lab there but if you don't care you are not a great employee!!! You are there to watch and take care of the dogs!!! I hope you don't have an animal!!!

Regarding kennel cough, my two dogs also caught it at Camp Ruff'n More and the WERE vaccinated before I brought them there. According to our vet, kennel cough is similar to the flu and there are different strains of it. The vaccine only covers some of the strains, so there is still a chance they can catch it. However, I didn't take my dogs back to camp for about a year after that. I finally brought them back, because I had previously bought a large package and still had 10 days left to use. I brought them back and they caught kennel cough again! And again, they had been vaccinated.

I won't bring them again, but it isn't because of the kennel cough. Despite having 10 days left on my package, our account had somehow been wiped and no credits were remaining. One employee told me that it had happened to several people and she believed me. However, another employee still made me feel like I was trying to cheat them. It wasn't worth the hassle, so we haven't been back.

So glad for these reviews, my dogs will never stay there, and the employee responses to these reviews seemed as inadequate as the care the dogs received, so again nice on the outside does not always mean nice on the inside

Why would you take your dog to a vet where they are just in a crate practically 24/7? Safer? I guess. I have two very social dogs and I would much rather them be in company with other animals rather than being locked up alone. I have brought my dogs to the Kingsport facility multiple times and never had a problem, it's clean, the employees are great, and my dogs absolutely love it. All I have to say is, "Want to go to Camp?" and they both get excited.

Cherry point animal hospital is the best to board at. They walk the dogs & clean the dogs runs & the dogs if need be. A top notch staff & super doctors. That's where we take our dogs & cats. Number one in the tri citys! Period!
