how about shannon hollowell, I think she is new. Seems to be nice and understanding pain management and counseling, not just handing out meds. anyone else been to her?

I have two relatives that go there. Not as strict as Pain medicine associates. they start you on percocet 5/325, then move you up to the 7.5/325. After a few months they give you the max that they will ever give 120 percocet 10/325. They also require you to get lidocaine injections in your back. my relatives tell me the injections don't help at all, but if you refuse, they will not give meds to you. Expect a urine test,(to make sure you have oxycodone and no other pain meds in your system, also expect a pill count). Its not that hard to get into there, you must have a referral, insurance is a must, and a recent mri of whatever is hurting you. Pain Medicine Assoc. does not require you to have insurance. A visit is $78.00 w/o insurance and they do not require injections along with medicine therapy. Hopes this helps!!

I was trying to find a pain treatment facility to go to and found The Pain center of Kingsport and it was listed as being on Eastman road, but when I went there, I couldn't find it. I would like to find a place that does injections and offers medications, is there anywhere like that in this area?

the pain center of kingsport moved locations. they are now on stone drive in kingsport. they used to be on Eastman rd until about 6 months ago. Call directory assistance 411 and get their phone number. I'm not sure if they changed numbers or not. they are located next to Courtesy Chevrolet on stone Dr.

by the way if you have been refused treatment at your regular pain clinic you will be redflagged in the tristate area unfortunately that happened to me, pill count was off, other meds found in my system.

not if your dr. shopping caused your doc just kicked you out for selling your pills and having illegal drugs in your system. you will be red flagged in every pain clinic in the tri-state area. good luck.

Not having that prob at all, never a bad pill count or another drug in my system. I was sent to Maryville several months ago by my primary doctor, then found out a couple weeks ago they were shut down because of money laundering, diverting drugs ?? I think thats what the news said. Can't even get my records now.

wow!! druggies will travel anywhere for there pills. Why won't primary docs give pain meds if you have a diagnosis to cause pain? or anyone else for that matter? I work at a pain clinic and see people drive 2 hours to get pain meds. Your story sounds fishy to me. We can get access to any of our pt. records. There has been to clinics shut down in the last month. maybe they just shut you down.

Legitimate patients have to jump through hoops, follow strict rules all of which makes the process about as painful as the need for medication.
Legitimate doctors have to jump through hoops, follow strict rules and also deal with the druggies illicit attempts who couldn't care less if the doctor loses their license.

Somehow because of the druggies things have turned pathetically backwards. Now it's the honest and legitimate people who are afraid of the government!

I have been going to Pain Med Assoc. for 10 yrs. Dr. Smyth is who I saw first now with FPN Holly Broadwater. They have always treated me with respect and the first ones to actually do the test necessary to find ruptured disc in my neck after suffering 15 yrs from migrane headaches. They have always giving me enough pain meds to control my pain. I highly recommend them if your looking for just enough meds to keep you comfortable and active. But if your looking to just get a high then you need to go with another Pain clinic.

I moved here 3 yrs ago and PMA was the first place my primary doctor referred me to. I've been a legitimate chronic pain patient for 2 years at the time. I went to PMA and was told they don't accept chronic patients only acute. They never even bothered to check my vast medical records substantiating my condition.

I'm still a chronic patient and finally found a legitimate doctor in Bristol (which is a long drive for me) that I've seen for two years now.

So, do you have to buy your way in or something?

Obviously you don't work for a pain clinic.
Otherwise you'd understand that in the governments typical wisdom about fixing a problem that it's caused major problems for the disabled and patients with legitimate/verified chronic pain!

These days the government's even scaring the doctors out of the specialty for fear of losing their license because of all the impossible regulations.

Now, I don't know what the big downside is of being on pain meds. It's not really hard on the liver, people can work, it's their lives....so what the hell is the big deal...somebody wants to take pain meds? None of my business.....

I'm opposed to liquor...that's what's killing people..

And t those who judge ..... There are no basis on which t base your stupidness...get a life

Pain meds, even tylenol, are hard on the liver. And most pain meds cause extreme drowsiness which prevent people from working......just saying
