Has anyone seen a copy of the Kingsort Times-News lately? What is their problem? The rag is beginning to look like a high school newsletter. They've cut out half of the features and the whole thing is only about 6 to 8 pages long. I thought the Loafer was awful, but at least it's free.

Biased? For Obama? Hardly. But the paper pretty much blows. So do the local TV stations. Ever see Johnny Woods?

I like the Times-News and you can read it online for free. They have D.B. football video highlights: http://youtu.be/xhu47Ur5aJY
The size of the newspaper is a direct reflection of the local economy. Nobody is buying advertising. Same with TV news. Freedom of the Press isn't free. If a community doesn't support its news agencies they lose them, and then the politicians and cops and do whatever they want with no on there to inform the public. Let's be supportive of our local home town newspaper before we lose it.

You cannot read the paper online for free. There is a subscription required to view the electronic edition. They do have a few news stories on the unpaid site, but they're truncated, trivial, or are a come-on for the pay-to-read version. Perhaps the paper would fare better with different management.

Why support ANYTHING that is one sided and never speaks on real news, and if it does, its always biased and never touches any real level of depth.

What is it and this town with high school football and especially acting as if there is only one "school" too even watch in the first place?

KTN is pure shit and truly lacks depth, but then again I do not really know of any national newspaper of the US, that is not biased or reports from a neutral standpoint and especially reports on REAL issues of this world. I would hope this bland ass paper goes away, for at least this region, would have to deal with learning what to focus their negativity on and what to support, cause everyone else is doing it.

Besides teenage boys running around playing football, is there any other real reason of why times news is a "good" or even a possibility to be considered a decent newspaper?

This poor lad obviously had a terrible childhood which causes him to lash out and write angry, ugly, negative comments about any subject. I've been a reader of the Times for more than 50 years, and I've found it to ALWAYS provide a well balanced, fair, and UNBIASED account of local new events, local government, law enforcement activities, and human interest items. Granted, the editorial page is WAY biased to the right, which is not my preference, but they also print guest opinion pieces from the left to attain some balance. It's unfortunate that the economy has forced a reduction in staff and content, but hopefully that's temporary. I seriously doubt this lad even reads the Times beyond the funnies. He takes advantage of any opportunity to bash something. It's a common trait of his generation. His comments regarding the Times are "biased, and lack depth."

dude only speaks on the truth of the matter. I would suggest u actually read what he talks about

personally I think he has more reliability and POSITIVE comments than anyone at all on these forums

go look at world papers or any kind of broadcast outside usa and you will see how bad all southern newspapers are. it should not be important what a preacher did or what person has taken drugs or local high school student does for fun or has done for a good cause

the usual ones who downplay his post and othrs alike never go to prove him wrong with actual logic they just attack his words and him as a person. just actually read his post i started out hating the dudes views also but he has won me over thats for sure. only thing i dont get is why he even tries in a town or forum like this where he always is attacked not for telling lies but for saying things no one else has the guts to say and is afraid to even look at on there own

keep on going sir. you do got people who reads your post cause they enjoy them also but the only ones who speak on them are the people who hate your words and hate you for saying them and cant prove you wrong

Can you give the Times-news some story tips that would improve their paper. I'm sure their editor would like to hear your input. Call the newsroom and ask to speak to a reporter, if there's an article you think should be written. You can also e-mail to their news tip line, which is on their website, and write letters to the editor. Local newspapers encourage community participation.

Just remember, Kingsport is a small town, and has a lot of small town news. If you live in Pumpkin Valley you might consider Kingsport a big city, but in the scheme of things its just a wide spot in the road where interesting things rarely happens. It's just not a very interesting place, especially for young people who are bombarded with big city news constantly on their I-phones and find small town news boring.

Its 2012 who needs a newspaper when you can do advertising and classifieds free via the internet. Its a waste of trees and ink. Turn on the tv to watch what little news we have. Plus there prices are way to high in such a economy. I still havent figured out why they wouldn't lower prices to help themselves and businesses out. R.I.P. times news

I'm afraid that years of chronic master-bashun have crippled up your fingers beyond the ability to type properly. Maybe you can get a disability check for that since you was laid off from the Times on Friday and are out of work.
