Hell, the only "free advice" I ever get from Zone or Advance is "that's a dealer item". Not if you know where to look. I've been told that so much, then i go home, get on PartsGeek or some of my other fav parts sites and in a couple days my part is on my doorstep. One guy at Advance actually laughed when I called about an ABS sensor for my A6. I promptly hung up the phone. Anymore I dont even walk in those places. Especially Advance. Never had a good experience there. Sorry but if you dont own standard fare stuff you may as well not even look in their direction.

I have purchased 3 BMW's from Rick Hill over the years. The service was good in the 80's but has declined over the years.

Never really hit them up for any Audi stuff. May try them next time. I generally like NAPA too.

We have a Porsche Boxster we used to take to Rick Hill for service. Every time there was any problem the Sevice Advisior would tell us what was wrong. We'd okay the repairs and then after they were done we'd be told it was something else that was wrong -- not what the Service Advisor had described -- and they went ahead and did the repairs anyway. This happened three or four times and we WILL NOT GO BACK TO THEM FOR SERVICE.

Rick Hill is the worst! AND if you fill out the online survey that the manufacturer sends you.. dont expect to hear anything back at all. Even if you ck the box, "have someone call me". They are rude, the service work is terrible and they act like its a privledge to get to come to thier dealership. No thanks, I'll drive all the way to Knoxville first

Sometimes the dealer is wrong , more often than they want to admit ! I have already seen Mr (Phil) Dykes prove himself wrong by talking too much when he doesn't know what he's talking about !! In middle of trying to get a water problem solved on my X5 and the stereo amps replaced because of it and they have worked on it twice and it's still not fixed and they're charging me $82 an hour labor for NOT fixing the problem ! I am now in the process of looking for a reputable repair shop in the area so I can get away from the dealer and their condensending attitude towards their customers !! Will be glad when this ownership experience is over !! I will most likely go back to Japanese products again because of their reliability and build quality .

I agree !! When you walk into Advance Auto and tell them you need so much as an air filter for a BMW they look at you like you're from another planet and just smirk and tell you they don't stock those items that it's a dealer only item so I just leave ! Hell , they couldn't even get a windsheild wiper to work on my X5 last time I needed one !! I just order my parts from Bavarian Auto and in a few days the parts are on my doorstep !! When I go into Auto Zone here they won't even greet you or speak to you so I stopped even going in that place! No wonder so many places are hurting for business , they don't know how to conduct business anymore !! they act like the customer is an inposition to them while you're there !! I just get what I need off of websites now and don't fool with the local yocals anymore !!

I was surprised to learn they dropped Audi. Actually Audi dropped them. I went to get a couple oil filters ( I do all my own work and always use factory parts) and learned that Audi had pulled out. This has been a couple years ago, but I suppose I'm starting to se why.
"Umm", Where the hell are you getting your specs? I venture that honda has nothing to compare to the smoothness and power of the BMW inline 6 that graces the 1, 3, and 5 series. And does any Jap automaker build anything that can hang with a 911? ABSOLUTELY NOT. There is NO honda or toyota out there that can even come close to an Audi or BMW on fit and finish, performance, value, ride quality, or style. When is the last time anyone considered a honda an investment? When you buy a BMW, Audi, Benz, Porsche, you are investing your money in something for one, that not everyone else has, and two, that you will actually have value in within an few years.
Some people just don't get it !! the Japanese vehicles are superior in build quality and reliability ! true that you may not the prestige of driving by someone in a European automobile but you'll be able to drive by them much more often , trouble free with a Japanese vehicle !! I have owned two BMW X5's and they have both have given me electrical problems that have caused more problems to arise !! I will probably go back to a Japanese vehicle the next time I buy ! that way all I'll need to do is oil changes and regular maintenance !!

Still, no Jap ride can compare. Anything worth having is worth keeping up. Ever noticed how GM, Ford, Honda, Nissan, even Kia are copying BMW, MB, and even Jag?

The new Fords "borrow" heavily from VW and Audi, the Honda Accord Coupe has as VERY similar shape to a 6 series (but can NEVER hold that kind of prestige), and the Acura sedan, the name escapes me, shares a LOT of design with many BMW's. Theres even a Kia that mimics Jag and Bentley styling. Sad really. Now put ANY of these said vehicles in a side by side comparison and see which one fares better.

The Germans never claimed reliability as a selling point. Folks who buy German know what they want. The vehicles speak for themselves.

why would anyone want a vehicle that wasn't reliable?

The vehicles ARE reliable, just like anything else they have their own problems. People are just really quick to run their mouths about the high end stuff claiming its not worth the money. But eithr way you look at it, No toyota or honda or chevrolet will EVER be as good an investment as a Bimmer, Benz, Audi, or Porsche.

Well come on Mr. I kow-it-all, tell me just what you think you know about cars or could the only thing you know is what you have read about cars. People like you are part of the ones that have put American automotive industries out of business. You can brag on your damn BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc. but they are no better than any American car. All you are doing is the same thing when you buy super high priced clothes, your as you say one of the "sheep" that is buying a name. Buying that junk isn't an investment and just like any other car the depreciate and don't hold value, yeah you might get a little more when you resale one of those big name cars but if you will look at what you have paid for that piece of crap it averages around the same percentage as a Ford, Pontiac or Chevrolet. If you wanna talk investments watch Barret-Jackson and look at the prices being paid for a now 41 yr old Camaro and look back at how much the car cost when it was bought new. A 3 to 4,000 dollar car when it was sew some of them are bringing upwards of half to a million dollars. Funny you don't see any of your favorite cars coming close to those prices. The old American made cars are where your investments are not some piece of sh*t built overseas!

I don’t think my BMW is junk, I love it. Now about Barret-Jackson- personally if I had that much money I sure as hell wouldn’t be buying one of those cars; probably a new Lamborghini or Aston Martin maybe an old Shelby Cobra. But that’s about it. Salesman there is nothing wrong with being a die hard American car fanatic- But they can’t make one that drives as good as my “Beamer”

Look at enthusiast mags and websites, we have spelled it Bimmer for years. And YES they ARE better then the american junk that has been produced in the past 50 years. I agree that if I were buying something in the 6 figure range it damn sure wouldnt be a 68 camaro. Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, now those are 6 figure investments and will outperform ANY american car an any way.

And yes I have seen porsches, ferrari's, bimmers, benzes and so on on the auction block. Barret Jackson is not the only collector car auction you know, or is what you know about collector car auctions what you know from watching TV?

F**CK the enthusiast mags, websites and you. They are NO better, they are overpriced, overrated piles of sh*t. Pull one of them up beside a Z06 Corvette and see just how much better they are than an AMERICAN made car. Your just another one of the dumbasses that think, hey I have a German, British etc. kind of car and it makes me better than you. Ha what a damn joke. I know there are other auctions other than Barrett-Jackson that sell those useless cars and there are plenty of idiots that waste money on that junk, agreed that some of the VERY old cars bring decent money but you see alot less of them because they don't make it as long as alot of the American classics. It takes a certain kind of person to hate an American made car and you fit right in the DUMBA** clan well!
