Had an appointment to bring our BMW in for service at 8AM;got up at 5AM for 2 hr trip to Kingsport;was there on time; told would take 2-3 days; told them NOT to do any work before letting us know what the cost was gonna be;left car in their care;called them end of day 2 told still running tests, they would call me the next day (friday);no call;I called
on Monday;told the mechanic looking at it called out sick on Fri and didn't want to put anybody else on the job he was in the middle of, he would call me;waited 2 days;no word;called them told they had been really busy that week and were really backed up;(Now have had car for 9DAYS) really thought BMW
was a reliable company and only went to RICK HILL because of loyalty to the brand;I called next day was told they hadn't gotten to it yet, I asked for Service Mgr., he said on lift right now, will call
with estimate;no call;I called next day said they we're working on the problem would call me next day; they did not; I called again, but told me they didn't really get a chance to look at it,I told them FORGET IT!!!!I was coming to get the car...NOW
THEY HAD IT FOR TWO WEEKS AND DID NOTHING...when we got there they gave us a bill for almost $1000 when we complained they said that was for a oilcap on the engine, some other minor thing and DIAGNOSTIC
TESTS AND LABOR!!!!!!with no choice in a fury we left. When we got home found that the car had been vandalized while on their lot;called them told us"NOT THEIR PROBLEM"!!!!!!No fence around lot!!!
No security cameras!!!!!No guards!!!!NO PROBLEM!!!
NOT GONNA DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!!called police and made report told it happens all the time..........

SO, MORAL OF THIS STORY, DON'T LEAVE YOUR CAR IN THE CARE OF RICK HILL IMPORTS KINGSPORT! Sorry we did.We are now having it repaired locally at a cost of less than the cost of what Rick Hill charged us to ESTIMATE what the repair cost would be!!!!and we
now are also paying $800 to repair the vandalism caused while in their care!!!!!!!!!!

I guess this is a good example of why you should buy a Jap car. It wouldn't need repairs at all.

I would sue. You should have taken pictures and documented the whole thing. That is terrible. I hope you called the owner. Sounds like they new about the vandalism and didn't want you to see it.

Took our Z3 to get a battery. They charged me an extra $300 because it took them two hours to find the driver's seat adjustment button was the reason the battery died. They didn't tell me anything until I insisted upon knowing why all the extra cost. Looking to get better service. Will be going to Asheville from now on or get another brand of car.

British Motor Works does not make a vehicle with tolerences that even come close to a Honda, much less a Lexus. Nothing but name and a little leather with a BMW.

I've never had anything but impeccable service at Rick Hill. Have you taken your complaints to the owner? I know from personal experience that Mr. Hill will do whatever he can to take care of his customers.

I am sure that each visit has its own relative, personal problems.the volumn of business the dealership completes will surely involve different personalities to deal with.Just maybe, the customer may sometimes be wrong.

Seems like for over 20 years now, Kingsport has the highest priced car lots, which at the same time provide the worst in service and satisfaction. We keep hoping to see improvement and always include it in our search. We still end up buying and servicing in Bristol or Johnson City.

I had a bumpy start with the BMW service guys, but the Mercedes service is top notch. They are always prompt, courteous and go above and beyond. I especially appreciate Jenny, Greg and their staff. As for the folks who run the BMW parts section, they definitely need some training. Just let Jenny or Greg know what your needs are and they will handle it expertly. I know from experience.

I had my Beamer serviced at Rick Hill several years ago and the service was outstanding. I can't believe it went downhill that much in 5 years.

I cannot agree with most of you guys more! We bought our BMW in NC, where we lived at the time, but have had it serviced at Rick Hill since we moved back to the area. We have had NOTHING but one nightmare after another. Once I took it there because of a leak in the one of the doors. We were told it was fixed and paid for the repair, but when we got the repair ticket we found out that they replaced the seal around the WRONG DOOR!!! Our latest problem is that we had a light that kept coming on the dash and took it in to be checked. We were told that they couldn't find anything at all wrong with it and that it just needed a little fluid of some sort. Lo and behold about one month later, irronically after the warranty ran out, the light comes back on. When we called Rick Hill, they said that something must have happened to it between the time they checked it and now. The kicker is--it's been hardly driven since then! We are trying to sell it and have had it parked. A little fishy, eh???? All I know is this--we will NEVER buy a car there. The Asheville and Knoxville BMW dealers must love Rick Hill because they surely get lots of unsatisfied customers who drive from Kingsport!

Seems like car prices are higher in Tri-Cities as a whole. Best bet is Morristown area if looking for a fair price on a car.

a few months ago I decided to invest in a BMW and went to Rick HIll. I walked around the lot for over 15 minutes and no one came to help. I walked to the door and asked a man leaning up against a car if he was a salesman--he said yes and I test drove some cars. I went in to check on financing, etc. and was quoted a price. Went home to do further research and found that consumer guide listed the exact make and model of the car I intended to buy as one of the worst previously owned cars on the market. I called and asked for more information and what else they had and was told that someone would call me back. I'm still waiting. It is obvious they were not interested in selling me a vehicle. I really got a bad feeling about them and after reading the other comments, I think I was right.

I was surprised to learn they dropped Audi. Actually Audi dropped them. I went to get a couple oil filters ( I do all my own work and always use factory parts) and learned that Audi had pulled out. This has been a couple years ago, but I suppose I'm starting to se why.

"Umm", Where the hell are you getting your specs? I venture that honda has nothing to compare to the smoothness and power of the BMW inline 6 that graces the 1, 3, and 5 series. And does any Jap automaker build anything that can hang with a 911? ABSOLUTELY NOT. There is NO honda or toyota out there that can even come close to an Audi or BMW on fit and finish, performance, value, ride quality, or style. When is the last time anyone considered a honda an investment? When you buy a BMW, Audi, Benz, Porsche, you are investing your money in something for one, that not everyone else has, and two, that you will actually have value in within an few years.
