My wife recently took my teenage daughter to this place. My daughter had been given a coupon for some free visits. When they arrived a girl at the front desk told my wife that she would have to show them a birth certificate for my daughter and show her drivers license to prove that she was her mom. My daughter is almost 15 and has been tanning before. They were told that this was the law. We talked to several tanning places in the area and were told that this was not the law. We were also told they would try to get your credit card and start bothering you. We were told that the law states that you just have to sign a form agreeing to let your minor child use the tanning beds, according to all of the other tanning places. This seems very odd that a tanning place would want all of this imformation. I wonder what they are using this imformation for.

I will be staying away. I think they have a bad attitude. Also the beds are no better than any other place just higher prices. Also watch out about your credit card.

I don't think this place will go out of business any time soon. Have you seen the lines to get into this place? I have never seen a new business with such long lines. Before buying a membership with them, I checked out their Better Business Bureau rating, it is perfect.

Just joined the Johnson City location last week. I am very disappointed. I did the Versa Spa on Friday and got very splotchy results .. yes they told me if I spent another however many dollars to purchase the pre spray tan lotion that I would get more even color, but with other spray tans I have never had to do that. It is Monday and my spray tan is completely gone (which it is suppose to last atleast a week the girl said) and I went in to tan in a tanning bed today. While I was sitting in the lobby listening to the employees chat while the bed I was going to lay in waited to be cleaned I started noticing how dirty the lobby floor was. Once they stopped talking long enough to clean my bed I went back and the floor back there was very dirty, the little stool had lotion all over it, and the top of my bed had finger prints all over it. I am required to do atleast one more month and then I will be taking my money somewhere else.

I went there for the first time a month ago.. i recieved a spray tan.. the girl told me if i purchased a sample of lotion and applied it before i tan that it would help it stay longer and not streak.. so i paid 7$ for lotion.. i didn't see the lotion til the girl walked me to my room.. she then handed me a bottle that had been opened and told me to apply this.. i took the lotion and looked at it and asked her.. do i get a new lotion or do i have to use out of the same bottle that half of Kingsport has used out of.. she said, "well this is how we do it here". i told her i would take a refund on the lotion when i got out of tanning.. that i think that is very unsanitary... she never said anymore..

NOW ISN'T THAT JUST SICK!!

Hey Geniuses why don't you just spend some time outside instead of paying to get skin cancer or spraying chemicals all over your body. You know your skin absorbs that stuff and it goes into your body.

i also took my "free coupon" in to try out the beds and was immediately given the "sale pitch" to buy lotion and visits.(buy the way the bottle of lotion was like $85). i was basically lied to and was told the Versa spa would not work properly without yet another kind of lotion, which was approx $30.00..I called the corp office and spoke with a regional manager, she was deeply apologetic, gave me free visits and a credit for my next purchase. so she did try to make it right. i have been going there ever since. best tan i ever had. they are a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I do agree that the some of the girl's attitudes at Sun Tan City (Kingsport especially) are very nasty! However, I have never had any issues with the Versa Spa. I have always been treated very well when it comes to the Amplify gel they want you to purchase to go with the spray tan. I have never spray tanned without it and always had GREAT results and my spray tan always last about a week! The amplify is kind of like insurance for your tan so you are not splotchy and you put the gel on replacing tanning lotion in the bed and it opens your pores for a better spray tan then move to the Versa Spa. One of the managers at the Kingsport location tried many different ways to spray tan with amplify, without it, with bronzers, without them, as well as doing 2 spray tans within a day of each other. Sometimes she looked good and others she didn't but she did it for the customers sake, to tell them what works! She is one of the nicest most friendliest people I have ever met when it comes to dealing with the public. Anyhow, I do get really annoyed with how much they try to up sell you lotions and try to tell you if you buy them anywhere else they might be fakes. I just always tell them I am not buying lotion there and move on because after all no matter how annoying it is their job. I also hate that you HAVE TO have eye wear to show them! I have never experienced this at another location. But, I can see why they do, and it is worth dealing with! I love that they have a selection of OPI nail polishes in the salons. This salon is the cheapest I have ever been at. I pay for the highest package the Instant package which includes all the beds plus the Versa Spa spray tan. I use to tan at JC Tan Co. and love how well I tan there but the Versa Spa was only at The Tan 2000 location. I pay 20.00 less at Sun Tan City and get the instant package with the Versa Spa included AND unlike most I don't have to do a contract for 6 months etc. or like JC Tan Co pay more to not have a contract every month. That's insane. Also, you can put your package on hold for 5.00 a month like some of the other salons but unlike some of them, especially JC Tan Co. the money actually goes toward a future purchase at Sun Tan City. The Sun Tan City at the JC location doesn't have the exact beds as the Kingsport location (some of them a bit older, some the same) but I was told that another location is coming to JC later this fall but will be smaller. Anyways, to each their own, good luck with tanning wherever you decide!

I just wanted to say no i have not been there but the reason i have not is all the bad things i've heard and the line is always so long.

The main thing i've heard is their lines are so long.

I've been a loyal bahama breeze customer for a long time. It's always fun to check out the next new thing. But I would rather stay were they know me by name and ask how i am etc. The owner is very sweet as well.

Sun tan city always tries to talk you into buying a ton of stuff they have that's what i've heard from several others.

Everyone that gave their hard earned money to those crooks at suntancity, I hope you learned your lesson! They did the same thing a few years ago in Johnson city! Sold a bunch of really cheap packages then closed down "indefinitely"... just like their Kingsport location. I filed a report to the Better Business Bureau yesterday. Everyone else that went there should do the same!!

Well Jimbo if you knew your hand from your a$$hole... U would know about 10 years or so back they were in kpt and close down.... As for this one now they have some damages to the building (if u can't tell) and they will be reopened after that! If you could actually afford a plan there you can call the 1800 number and they will give u a refund.. But am sure you are just running your mouth because monster trucks isn't on tonight to watch.
