To bad Steve Johnson has not purchased the Mall and torn it down to make a water park/pool out of the land!

he will once it dies from no major anchor. Look for Sears and Dick's to go next and JCP will dissolve on its own. It will be cheap property then.

I am currently building a Tri-Cities open/monitored forum website.(free to the public of course). Keep checking Topix.com as well as local TV websites for more info.
Anyone wanting to bash a neighbor/Ex/Landlord etc... will be deleted.
This will be a home for Tri-City residents to ask and reply to questions without ridicule.
See you soon.........

Why would Belk move to a 9.5% sales tax location when Bristol Va Falls project will only have 5% sales Tax.
The 2 projects are only 10-min drives apart? I think Belk's has made a mistake on that score...

I agree. Belk loses my business as I refuse to pay the Tennessee tax rate. Most of the local Tennessee residents shop on the Virginia side due to the lower rate, especially where grocery purchases are concerned.

Unless Belk knows something we don't. I'm sure they made that choice because of something and I agree, logic would say put it at exit 5 with lower tax and more PR towards the development, but something made them close closer to kingsport. The Belks in Kingsport just signed a new 5 year lease, so I think they picked johnsons for one of two reasons. A. His has a better chance of filling up since its underway. B. eventually close down Kingsports for one central market location. Or it could be both, unsure.

Looks like those stores are looking out for their expenses. They can operate on TN side cheaper at the expense of the customer which looks like they don't really care any more.

Our family has shopped Belk for years and have a Belk card. However, after hearing of their drop of Ivanka Trump's clothing line we have decided to cancel our Belk card and no longer will shop Belk in protest of their POLITICAL move against Trump. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

Did you buy a lot of her stuff? Give me a break. Nobody cares. I will continue to happily shop there. And I bet it won't take long for you to drop your "boycott"
