Who has the best food in general? The best Pizza? The best Japanese? The best hot dog? The best hamburger? The best/friendliest service? The best french fries? The best deserts? The best Steaks? Please give your input or feel free to add items? Also, who has the worst of these items? The best wings? The best subs? The best salads?

Used to like Fuji House on Eastman Road for oriental stuff. But once I was eating there with a friend and we both got this vaguely disgusted look on our faces. It took a few more bites to figure out it was the rice. It tasted like dirty socks or something. Haven't had a problem with them before but haven't been back since. To me, pretty much any of the oriental places are good if you're in the mood for that type of eating. Same goes for the Mexican/LaCarretta type places - one seems to be as good as the other; menus and prices almost exact.

Always enjoy a Bourbon Street steak from Applebees. Pizza Hut's Super Supreme pizza is always delicious but I like pizza from the other pizza joints too - again depends on mood. I might also pick Pizza Hut for best salad except that might be based on their creamy Italian salad dressing - I could almost drink that stuff straight. No one else has it.

Best hamburger depends on what I'm craving at the moment. The major fast food chains all have their specialties that I crave from time to time. Specialty burger places seem to be hit or miss - some very good, some you would think would be outstanding are blah. Pals stands out with their sauce burgers with cheese, but that's only because it's unique - not necessarily the best although it is delicious. Their commercials are annoying....along with Riverfront Seafood commercials, which is good seafood but I hear the owner is a jerk.

But then I've never interacted with him. I had a friend who had a coupon for something there and when she went to pay, the owner tore it up and said they weren't honoring them - but it shouldn't be the customers' faults for their advertising issues. Good seafood, though. And nice view of the river - enjoy eating out on the deck there on a pleasant day.

Ridgewood Barbecue...enough said there, if you like barbecue. Usually crowded when I've been though.

I like wings from pretty much anywhere. If you like boobs with your wings, there's Hooters of course.(Hey, if girls with big boobs work at Hooters, where do girls with one leg work?......IHOP......HAHAHAHAA !!!*ahem* Sorry.)

Pasta Palace - still in business after all these years has its devotees. Good Italian. Actually the China One restaurant beside it has never let me down either although it's not a big extravagant venue. Serves Japanese and Chinese. Nice people.

That's all I got for now.

I personally like the hamburger from cowboy's cafe and saloon on Center street! They also have a great club sandwich. I have never ordered anything that been disappointing! They have a great variety on the menu too! Give them a try sometime. You won't regret it!

Rule 1: If someone mentions a major chain restaurant as a good place to get awesome food, they don't know jack squat about food.

Well that's a fantastic bit of insight there Raerae. And I don't necessarily disagree. But this thread is about the best food here. So got any suggestions? I'm certainly interested in finding new, old, small, or not-so-well known places to eat. Instead of where NOT to eat, give us your jack squat on where TO eat, please.

hmm...Shoobies has the best cuts of meat for a sub. Fast food wise- Purple Cow is the winner but their burgers aren't that great.La campina (I think I spelled that right) has the best "mexican" food. Their salsa is to die for. Italian Village has the best pizza in kingsport (which isn't saying much). If you want fine dining and an awesome culinary experience, spend the extra gas money and go OUTSIDE of Kingsport. Not far from us there are excellent places to eat.

Weber City: Handy Kitchen has kick arse chinese food. The Hob Knob had good burgers (they've changed owners since I I don't know about it being good still)

Johnson City: Main Street Pizza company has great pizza.

Bristol's Machiavelli's has the best meat lover's type of pizza I've had in 10 years. Also, Eatz on Moore Street is cheap and awesome southern cooking.

Sorry, I went off topic but I'd figure you'll get over it when you try the food :p

I almost forgot about the Purple Cow. Always liked the food there but the long line has discouraged me from going very much. I think this thread should expand to "Best Food in the Tri Cities or Thereabouts". There are definitely great places to eat outside of Kingsport.

Shoobies on Center st has Great food, the best part about them is they are not a chain..I guess a lot of people I talk to don't realize they have a lot more than just pizza, great lasagna and egg plant also if you like spinach try their spinach pie. Everything they do is homemade, oh and thier pizza is fantastic, they make their own dough which I don't think too many other restaurants serving pizza around here do.

I followed the advice given on here, for the 1st time, and ate at Shoobie's tonight. Speaking of 1st times.....FWIW this is my 1st time posting on Topix.
My wife and I took advantage of their 2 topping large pizza for $6.99 that the waitress suggested. All in all, the pie was excellent! Crust was perfect and the sauce delicious. An added bonus was that we had over half the pizza left. I'm looking forward to having the leftovers this weekend.
I sure hope others will follow my example of trying Shoobies and posting their opinion. I'll be going back and telling friends.
