The Chief of Police needs to understand that his employer is the City of Kingsport. That means his employer is the city mayor and board of alderman. He should communicate with his employer before making any blanket statements. As for beer and wine...it is a part of our culture. Like it or not it is here to stay. I can't tell you where to take your children but if you know that there will be alcohol served then avoid that venue.

There's enough drunk driving deaths without making booze (legal dope) EASIER to get!

What do libs want, to allow welfare bums to use food stamps to buy booze?

That would mean all convience stores, grocery stores, gas stations....I'm talking about downtown. The downtown is paid for by taxpayers....WE that have any common sense , know that is crazy.
It's all about meadowview and their WINERY. Meadowview is the largest waste and so many of the aldermen and mayor have gotten rich on the building thereof.$8.00 each for swimming a family of 4 would be dropping a big 50 dollar bill at the very least. For example Clark ,Dave he was an alderman , his x wife was on the kingsport housing and re-development authority. She didn't use his last name.
He knew what land to buy and where to buy it. NOTICE the signs that are forsale around Meadowview. IT's non other that Clark.
He lost the next election to the board of mayor and aldermen by 10 votes. There is a Clark on the boma now ...probably his son. Don't know.
It's the good ole' club. Pal barger and Dennis phillips are buddy, buddy.

I enjoy wine with meals and many brands are not available in the overpriced liquoir stores. I will drive over the border to make case purchases of beer or wine and also get a better variety at a cheaper price. It is a common trip for Kingsport and other community residents to go to Gates City or Bristol to make purchases. When your there take advantage and get your other needs and pay less tax. It doesn't take an Einstein to realize with high cost of living you have to look at whats best for your wallet.

Don't we have enough drunk driver deaths without making it easier for drug addicts (which is what a drunk is) to get their drug of choice?

Alcohol doesn't kill people. The people that abuse/misuse it do.

Don't punish responsible adult consumers for the misdeeds of criminals. Criminals will find alcohol regardless. You are only punishing law-abiding drinkers.

you should have to have a permit to buy excessive amounts of alcohol. Now...to have open beer in downtown is ridiculous.

Guns don't alter behavior; booze (like all dope) does. If you use booze you are no different then a herion user.

That would be false to say there is no difference. There is a difference. One is legal, one is not. If you see them as the same, you are wrong.

It is okay with me for the mayor and chief to have different views on this issue. I think they should not sell liquor in stores.

I wish the chief of Police would run against Phillips. That would be a sparring match to watch.
This city has been ripped off with the Meadowview debacle. It's underwater today from the excessive rain.

The Police Chief doesn't have to clear what he wants to say or sign with the Mayor Mc Phillip. We still have free speech last time I look . Of course the lil guy in the white house might have changed that by now.

I disagree. Guns can alter behavior. A gun can turn a coward into a wannabe badass.

Owning a gun is a constitutional right that saves life.
Using booze does NO GOOD and destroys lives EVERY DAY.

More people are killed by drunks then guns
