Actually it looks as though the mall is managed by Avison Young which is actually a Canadian company. Assuming Somera Capital Management still owns the property that company is US based out of California.
You have a Canadian and California company with their hands in the mall. Does anybody on here think they honestly care about Kingsport? I doubt we are even a blip on their radar and it's why the property has been so largely ignored and is such in shambles.
Agree, I think they will get the theater, but half the big movies for the summer are over. Gonna be hard to get the money out of the place. I think the mall has done the work to now to show progress, but the seats are big. That's the tell tell sign they are coming. But still, JC is looking for a new theater, and the bass pro place has regal, we will have a old painted theater. The paper mentioned the biggest screen in the mall is still way smaller then the smallest in marquees. Haven't drove by the marquee site in a few weeks, anybody looked to see if they are working?

I usually don't comment, but I wanted to say this particular thread is one of the very few on Topix that is populated by rational adults discussing a subject in a mature manner and with the added bonus of being interesting. Kudos to the regular participants.

None. Look for something in the next few weeks, developers trade show in Vegas this past week. This time last year is when kingsport lost bass pro to bristol. I'm sure, both bristol TN and VA were fighting each other for attention and it will be interesting to see what comes from it. Now as for the mall movin to crossroads.......I guess Belk would be the only anchor who could do it? Sears and JC penny can't afford to build new and Belk won't go if they are the only one. I do worrie that we have all we are going to get.... Big fat man, any news from the mall? And also, anyone go by the Kmart marquee? Haven't been able to get by there.

Just a little note on Regal since I was the one to post about that image in the Bristol forum and brought it up on here as well. While that graphic is on the site I don't think it's official yet. If you remember the pavilion had Marquee listed as a coming tenant but it fell through. So while Regal has a good chance of coming to Bristol it's not been officially announced, I'm gonna bite my tongue on Regal until/when/if it's announced for Bristol.

Marquee was kicked out so the blame goes to the mall. I would bet the city told them they needed to do it to get the money, bad part is by the time the city finds out the IMAX isn't coming, the new marquee will be built without one. Can't just add something like that on so it will go to bristol or Johnson city.

Even with deep pockets, retailers are going to developments like the falls. These things are dead for the most part. An example on how to keep malls from becoming ghost towns is sitting in Johnson city. Deep pockets won't look here when our own city can't help the crossroads project become a success, or prevent the cities around us from getting the retailers we want. And I can't blame them, if I had millions and millions, unless I wanted to lose a bunch, I would look elsewhere before tackling the malls problems. If they didn't have a track record that is well documented in the 260+ post on this thread of saying one thing and never doing it. The only thing they have brought in the last 5 years is one children's clothing store. While the city is so excited about announcing the reopening of the smallest screens in the trick ties in a empty part of the mall, bristol and Johnson city are making headway on projects that will affect our ability to lure anyone. It's sad that a theater is the ONLY thing the city has to be proud off even with it being worse then what is in bristol Nd Johnson city.....we have a pool....

Anymore to me it doesn't matter to me I've given up on the mall. I'm just going to see movies in Bristol until Marquee opens up in Kingsport. Frank's sounds very nice but I think we all know it's going to be a flop and the plans won't go through as planned.

Like the mall's "remodel" which has consisted of one new store and five light bulb changed and a new sign ohhhh I'm so impressed. Frank's may indeed come to Kingsport but I'd bet money we will never see the planned IMAX or the bowling alley or anything else. It's just going to reopen in the same state as Marquee with new seats that's going to be the new "big remodeled" theater.

The Kingsport Mall is a joke and I will take my business to other businesses in Kingsport or to the new projects upcoming in Bristol. I never thought I'd ever say that the majority of my shopping will turn to Bristol but Kingsport is failing in the retail market so it looks like Bristol is gonna be the new place to shop and eat at in the Tri-Cities.

Regal has plans to go to the Pinnacle in Bristol, TN. It's not announced yet but I'm predicting it anytime. It's already in a graphic and I'm pretty sure it's set to happen.
