Has anybody heard the gun range in southern kingsland? It used to not bother me, but now it seems as if these guys are shooting off artillery. I live near Alvah Brazell Rd and that is all I hear in the afternoon. There is supposedly a bunch of citizens banning together to get it shut down because of the noise. Howard Davis owns it. Anybody know anything about him? I am going to the next CCBOC meeting to see what is said there. I would have went to the last one, but I didnt know people were fighting it. It sure is loud, and it is all you hear all evening until dark. Imagine living next door to the front lines of Afghanistan, that is what it sounds like. No more birds chirping, just guns firing. Im wanting to move if this doesnt change.

The man got away with killing his wife in 1980, and is an utter slum lord prick who owns those nice ghetto trailer parks next to the gun range. Of course they wont say anything cause he will evict their asses.

Wow you people will complain about anything. If you didn't want it then you should have went to the zoning and planning meeting and voice your concerns then.
Just like the people of this county, don't want jobs being created or businesses that will keep money in the county. Just build more houses and tax the hell out of them.

do you live next to it? i doubt it. come spend the day at my house and see what i am talking about. if you can get a ticket for having your radio to loud then this should not be going on near a residential area. if it was indoor and not being heard for miles it wouldnt be a problem.

How far off am I? 60 concerned citizens attended the Comissioner's meeting. 20 spoke against the range and no one but the owner spoke for it?

I wonder if they would approve it now that it is not complying with any regulations, such as liners to catch lead run-off, and ways and means to collect the high concentration of lead leaking into the ground water and running into river tributaries. That place is supposed to be lined like a landfill, but has nothing. Think about all the lead shot down that range daily that is never dealt with properly. It just sits there and soaks into the ground. Pretty cool huh?

You blithering idiot!

EPA does not deal with the kind of "lead poisoning" those range neighbors are pretending to be afraid of.

How do you suppose the weight of the lead in that berm compares to the lead in the Camden woods from centuries of hunting and plinking?

How many rounds are shot per day at the range compared to how many rounds are shot per day per hunter in the whole county? It takes one to two shots to drop game, and roughly 80% of hunters come up empty handed a day. Now compare that to how many clips and magazines are dumped per customer at the range per day. Big difference. I hunt, and a box of rounds lasts me all season and into the next season. Thats 20 rounds for two years for deer season and about the same for turkey season. Most hunters only hunt one season a year, and only shoot maybe 3 to 4 times a year to drop game. You could take all the lead used from all the hunters for the last 10 years in Camden and it wouldnt compare to a weeks worth at that gun range.

The EPA does deal with not complying with environmental endangerment from not following proper procedures.

I am an avid sportsman, who spends many early mornings in the woods with my rifle/shotgun during season. I am also an avid supporter of the 2cd amendment, and the NRA. My family owns land in South Kingsland. This land has been in my family for a long time, and has been used for hunting and fishing by 5 generations of us and our friends. Now, as it is time for the 6th generation to enjoy this land the same way we have, it isnt possible. The Oakwell Gun Range has taken our ability to pass down our traditions by the noise they create. We teach and have been taught to be respectful of others, our environment, and our resources. Since the Oakwell Range opened, we can no longer take advantage of our resources the way we have for over 100 years. I cant teach my children, nieces or nephews what my grandfather, uncles, and father taught me in those woods. When I visit my family, we cant even sit on the porch and talk without the constant sounds of tactical firearms blasting away hundreds of rounds an hour. There are hundreds of people that live in that area who are fed up with it. People from May Creek to Escott Rd to down Vacuna have complained, and are now organizing to have their voice heard. If you are fed up, show up at the next commissioners meeting and let your voice be heard. This is not people against guns, this is people wanting peace and quiet that we have had for years restored to our community.

Right on point resident. Come show your support at the next meeting. We are spreading the message to people in all districts of the county. Nobody would want to live next to this place.

You don't even live there anymore and haven't in years so STFU and go piss and moan about something that actually concerns you. You are such a little bitch. Always have to find something to cry about. Grow up.
