Yes it's teamwork alright! The team works to accomplish region championship each year to pad Herrons stats. Camden Sux is absolutely correct in what he is saying.

Parents are responsible for paying anywhere from $400 to $800 for camps. If the players don't attend these mandatory camps theyr'e not allowed to play. Multiply that amount time 220 players and you will have the answer as to why Camden has so many players. It's a very profittable concept.

Now, you have a team with 200+ players and only 24 at the most are allowed to play.(Unless you have a relative as a coach, then not only do you play for more than your senior year, you also get to play 3 positions, at once)I can only imagine how the 200 bystanders feel.

When entering the recruiting process it is about the grades but it is also about the players stats, and film. If players are not allowed to play until they are Seniors they end up with stats such as DeAngelo Smith, and very little film to show recruiters.

This concept benefits the narcissist attitude of Herron, no one else! The bright spot in all of this is starting this year he will have to play a full season of contender. Something he has never been faced with while racking up all those region championships.

Camden Sux - They will never believe what you say about the knight in white. Just as they will never believe they are being screwed by their elected officials and they're all 60% upside down in their mortgages.

Thought you said you can go to camp without money, so why are you paying for two more to go and others.I had a sixth grader about a year ago that his weight was about 65 pound, handed me one the the sheet herron puts out for sposorship and ask me to sponsor him, he said if he raises $300 he would get his name on his jersey and shoe and go to the camps.so alot of those kids dont have to raise money, the little guys do it for them. herron makes a killing on those camps why dont he stop hiding behind middle school kids and pay for them if charging is the factor. What about the booster club what do they do for the kids camps.Next time look at how most of those kids dress on the field when they stand on the side line can't even wear matching socks.

My son is graduating this year from CCHS and has played FB in Camden County since 6th grade. He is certainly not one of the stars on the team but that has not detered Coach Herron or other coaches from helping him with his College career. My son has always known that Coach Herron will do anything he can to help him as long as he wants the help. My son is an excellent student and has been offered several Academic scholarships which Coach Herron was more than happy to send letters, make phone calls, e mails, etc to help facilitate these scholarships. Remember, these scholarships had nothing to do with his FB skills. Therefore, I take exception that he has his favorites. Does he play the best athletes on the team to win a game? Ummm...yes! How long would he make it as a coach if he did not? What would this blog look like? Sure there were times I would have liked my son to play more, what parent doesn't? The discipline, structure, friendships, etc that my son has garnered playing on this team are immeasurable. Coach Herron's committment to this team, school and community are also immeasurable.
..and on the comment about mandatory Wing T camp, yes it is mandatory. However, I know for a fact that every child has an opportunity to go whether they have the money or not. Since my son was in 9th grade we have paid for at least 2 other players to go to camp. Many other families have done the same. I know for a fact there have been years when some of the money was available for other activities because the need was not for Wing T camp. I know this because I was called and asked if they could use our donation for something else.
I hope Coach Herron is not leaving CCHS, but if he is I wish he and his family all the success and happiness life has to offer. He has been a vital part of my son's HS years and I am very grateful for all he has done for him and all the other student.

Has it ever occurred to you, my dear confused idiot, that the championships, ESPN games, and the national ranking, turn recruiters on to the school? Has it ever crossed your mind that these things actually help our players get recruited? Our school receives national attention, which leads to many more colleges looking into our players to see if there are viable recruits here. Georgia is number 4 in the nation for college recruitment. Having the state champ titles, ESPN coverage, and a national ranking will lead to recruiters looking here before other places. We need all the help we can get, because this state is boiling over with high school football talent. Texas, Florida and California are the only other states that send more high schoolers off to college via athletic scholarship for football. Sending 20+ a year is almost 100% of your starters for offence and defense every year. I find that number hard to believe. 9 to 10 students a year is not a bad thing. It could be worse, and it damn well has been. Imagine what we would send without Herron here.

When they are seniors after the season, see how much attention they get!!!!!just ask other parents who have had senior players.

Well I did all the recruiting myself I pick up the phone and make contact with all the coaches that have spoken with my child why because I like to hear what they are offering!!! Coach Herron is a good man as are all the coaches on the team!! I've paid my camp money since my child was in 7th grade paid for my kid to attend college camps as well as showcase events..... Recruiting is not a one sided deal which you would like it to be. If you are so concerned about the recruiting issue carry your tail on up to the Atheltic office and speak to someone!!! I'm pretty sure everyone on here can figure out who I am I'm just wondering if we can get a hint on who you are.... I love to debate but you have no clue what your talking about!!!!

You know what Camden Sux, you are the one on here doing all the belly aching, yet you state it's not your job to talk with the coach. Is it just that you are too chickenshit to confront the source of your pissing and moaning? You launch a personal assault on QB Mom in answer to some reasonable responses she made to your tirade. Is that the kind of rationale you would approach Herron with? Your argument is way too personal sounding. Could it be that you don't have a kid on the team now, but had one that just couldn't cut the mustard? A chip off the old block? Go sweep your warehouse.

You can all lick my crack, I am done with you retards. Keep on praising this program we'll see come signing day what great scolarships are given to these lucky few kids. I say at most the 7!

In the mean time folks STFU and pay your $400 to send your kid to camp so he can have the privilege of wearing a Camden uniform an cheering on the sideline.

What's really funny, is that they will lose again in the playoffs becasue your brilliant coaching staff can't get a kick off. Heck having to play in region 1 you might not even make the playoffs this year than what? How many scholarships will you get then? I bet you Herron will high tail it out of here!

In 6 months I 'll be retired and moved back to VA, where I belong. I hope my school Oscar Smith has the chance to play this BS wing-t, garbage running team, we'll show you what a fully functioning offense looks like!

Peace out, you GA Hicks!

He's definitely not self-centered. I was hanging out in the parking lot next to the athletic building after a football game and he stopped by my car and made sure my friends and I were ok and our car wasn't broken down. A self-centered person wouldn't do that.

Camden, well not so much. But hey at least we have trophies and SC for allour support!

Parents sign your kids up for the upcoming season and if he's lucky we let him catch a pass or two, but thats it! Move along nothing to see here.

What we are really talking about here is a philosophy. You can either have the philosophy of individualism or teamwork. You can follow the philosophy of Camden Sux who wholeheartedly believes in individual accomplishments, stats, and goals. Or you can believe in the philosophy of the current Camden staff which is teamwork, common goals, and common accomplishments. Really the Stephenson program has become somewhat of a joke in the Georgia high school football circles. All this supposed talent year after year but routinely bounced out of the state playoffs in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Most experienced Georgia football watchers tend to point to a lack of disipline, lack of teamwork, lack of integrity that is prevelent in the Stephenson program. Personally I like the idea of teamwork, working as one in pursuit of common goals. Every fortune 500 company, military branch, employer would rather have the teamwork/character guy that a high school star with inflated stats. The lessons being taught here might not be flashy but they are life lessons that can be very beneficial later on in life. I'll put out 2 names from the past that illustrate 2 very different paths in life. Hershel Walker and Marcus Dupree. Both the top recruited running back in the country. One was all about hard work and teamwork, the other one was all flash. Both received college scholarships. One followed a path to Georgia, the other a checkers path looking for the best deal. Today one is an owner of the largest food service company in America. The other drives a rental equipment delivery truck in Mississippi. And one last little bit of information for you Camden Sux. Over the last 10 years in the AAAAA classification Stephenson HAS sent the most players to college via scholarship. You want to know who #2 is ??? The Camden County Wildcats !!!!!!!! There are some facts to digest without any name calling.
Sorry oh wise one, but Camden is actually #4, and dropping. Your research, like your brain, is outdated! Go get a clue.

Heron does not control the gene pool in Camden. Genetics = success in football. Plain and simple. You can't coach kids into being big or fast. God given. He does his part by coaching what shows up and winning. The biggest kids will get noticed. The fastest kids will get picked up. The average and below average will continue to fundraise and get front row seats and a locker next to the greats and stories to tell their kids and will graduate and get jobs have kids that are average and below average who will do just what their daddy did and the cycle will repeat and repeat and repeat.

So long individualist. I concur. These local o'culls in Camden County are 20 years behind the times! What do you really expect. Plantation mentality! Slavery ended 400+ years ago. Run thru that wall buck! OK massa! Not! So long Herron! Don't let the door hit you on the way out Now let's get down to playing some real football! Your kid is your resource, stop giving these coaches so much power over your children. Many of them like Herron have their own agenda that has nothing to do with your child! Take control of your childs future stop leaving it in these coaches hands! 1
