Not up to the Coach to "get" a kid a scholarship. It is ultimately up to the kid to "get" his/her scholarhip. They must prove themselves on the field and OFF the field also. That is certainly not the coach's responsibility!

There are some people who insist on blaming their short-comings on other people. If their son doesn't pass it's the teacher or his coaches fault. If he gets disiplined it's the principal's fault. If he gets caught with drugs it's the police's fault. If he fails to get a scholarship it's the coaches fault. Just when is it the parents fault??????

It's up to the parents and child. The child must perform on the field and off the field and the parents must be willing to provide time and financial support for travel. If you do it yourself you owe no one!!!!
Stephenson HS has a person that only deals with recruiting the HC does not do it all!!!

Stephenson runs the same offense as Camden the wing t!! I've watched Stepheson play they don't open up their offense........Now when your 6'2+ and can run a sub -4.8 40 how much work does a coach have to do really?...Most of the Stephenson players are transfers from lesser schools in the area....How many 6'2+ transfers does Camden have??

Must be what Stepehenson is doing to get so many kids a scholarship. Once again all I keep hearing from these lemmings is how great the program and Coach is. And to that I say, "its great for who?"
Certainly not the kids who must sacrifice for 4-7 years to be a Wildcat. You can keep teh ESPN games and trophies, get these kids more scholarships!
Has it ever occurred to you, my dear confused idiot, that the championships, ESPN games, and the national ranking, turn recruiters on to the school? Has it ever crossed your mind that these things actually help our players get recruited? Our school receives national attention, which leads to many more colleges looking into our players to see if there are viable recruits here. Georgia is number 4 in the nation for college recruitment. Having the state champ titles, ESPN coverage, and a national ranking will lead to recruiters looking here before other places. We need all the help we can get, because this state is boiling over with high school football talent. Texas, Florida and California are the only other states that send more high schoolers off to college via athletic scholarship for football. Sending 20+ a year is almost 100% of your starters for offence and defense every year. I find that number hard to believe. 9 to 10 students a year is not a bad thing. It could be worse, and it damn well has been. Imagine what we would send without Herron here.

Camden Sux,

Raise your own damn children and STFU. Maybe the reason you want someone else to do it is because you are afraid the apple may not fall far from the tree huh???

Oh sure all their players are 6'2"+, man you are smoking crack! They put 53 of 66 senior kids into college, in the past 2 years at all levels! Know what they have no ESPN appearances or SC's to show.

But hey who am I to question what a great program we have. We put 6 kids to collge a year. Yippeeee!

You guys are retarded!

No but the Stephenson HC hired a full time coach to do teh pushing of his students! Who do you think calls each college and updates them on the players? Do we at all mighty Camden do that? Do you think its the parents job to call college coaches to promote their kids.

Kind of simplistic answer aint it!

Again why are you all so happy with the low college scholarships? Don't these kids deserve better? Instead of attacking me, ask the school how you can help. I dont have any kids playing football or attending school here. And no I wont go volunteer to talk to the HC, he would't let me help anyway. Just ask his coaches.
So stop the stupidity.

Well I did all the recruiting myself I pick up the phone and make contact with all the coaches that have spoken with my child why because I like to hear what they are offering!!! Coach Herron is a good man as are all the coaches on the team!! I've paid my camp money since my child was in 7th grade paid for my kid to attend college camps as well as showcase events..... Recruiting is not a one sided deal which you would like it to be. If you are so concerned about the recruiting issue carry your tail on up to the Atheltic office and speak to someone!!! I'm pretty sure everyone on here can figure out who I am I'm just wondering if we can get a hint on who you are.... I love to debate but you have no clue what your talking about!!!!

Boowhoo QBMom aren't you special! Oh look at me I am the QB's Mom. Big Friggin whoop! Just because you think you are an expert on HS footbal, what have you done to help other kids get a chance?

You sound like a typical beauty pageant Mom, oh look at my kid, look at what I did.......I made my kid great.....I paid for his cleats, I paid for his jock, blah, blah, blah! Did I miss anything?

You sound like the typical attention seeking Mom who wears their kids jersesy to the games and goes around bragging about their kids. What's a matter Mom, you didn't get attention as a kid? Need to run aorund town bragging, I could care less about who you are, I don't worship HS football players, especially not there attention seeking Mothers! Get over yourself lady you are really noone in Camden! You must be one plump woman, or psycho, one.

Get back on point, why do Camden kids not get scholarships for such a great program?

Why do you think I should go tell them how to do their jobs, do yo think they are going to tell me how to run my warehouse?

Well since your good at verbal attacks on someone I'm just gonna chalk you up to a he/she psycho!!!! And to your point as to why I am not helping anyone else's child refer to question 1 on the clearing house form!!!! As for DD in your previous post it was 12 catches...... As for the Stephenson recruiting issue they have a guidance counsler that was already employed at the school who sends out all info on kids!!! As for being plump about a year ago I was but I've since lost a lot of weight!!!

Good guess huh? Why else would you act the way you do? You suffer from such low self esteem that you have to elevate your status to "QBMom"! You never played football. You just want everyone to notice you. Sorry Mom dont deserve the attention you crave, you dont play the game so don't break your arm patting yourslef on the back!

Get over yourself woman, or get help for your self esteem issue.

Great D'Angelo had 12 catches, 6 TD's in 4 years and we couldn't let him catch more why? Might have helped the Team win more games and more trophies, huh? Ya think?

Look folks I dont have skin in this game, keep burrying your head in the sand. I am trying to speak for the kids that dont have anyone making calls for them. They get one chance to play HS ball and for many no joy.

Why can't Camden get more aggressive and do a better job getting there kids scholarships? I dare you to stay on point.
Application for idiots

It is all in the application process dip stick. Learn to write and spell and teach your kid the same. Send in the applications to the schools you wish to attend. If the qualification and grades are there and they are documented admission is asured.

You know what Camden Sux, you are the one on here doing all the belly aching, yet you state it's not your job to talk with the coach. Is it just that you are too chickenshit to confront the source of your pissing and moaning? You launch a personal assault on QB Mom in answer to some reasonable responses she made to your tirade. Is that the kind of rationale you would approach Herron with? Your argument is way too personal sounding. Could it be that you don't have a kid on the team now, but had one that just couldn't cut the mustard? A chip off the old block? Go sweep your warehouse.

What we are really talking about here is a philosophy. You can either have the philosophy of individualism or teamwork. You can follow the philosophy of Camden Sux who wholeheartedly believes in individual accomplishments, stats, and goals. Or you can believe in the philosophy of the current Camden staff which is teamwork, common goals, and common accomplishments. Really the Stephenson program has become somewhat of a joke in the Georgia high school football circles. All this supposed talent year after year but routinely bounced out of the state playoffs in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Most experienced Georgia football watchers tend to point to a lack of disipline, lack of teamwork, lack of integrity that is prevelent in the Stephenson program. Personally I like the idea of teamwork, working as one in pursuit of common goals. Every fortune 500 company, military branch, employer would rather have the teamwork/character guy that a high school star with inflated stats. The lessons being taught here might not be flashy but they are life lessons that can be very beneficial later on in life. I'll put out 2 names from the past that illustrate 2 very different paths in life. Hershel Walker and Marcus Dupree. Both the top recruited running back in the country. One was all about hard work and teamwork, the other one was all flash. Both received college scholarships. One followed a path to Georgia, the other a checkers path looking for the best deal. Today one is an owner of the largest food service company in America. The other drives a rental equipment delivery truck in Mississippi. And one last little bit of information for you Camden Sux. Over the last 10 years in the AAAAA classification Stephenson HAS sent the most players to college via scholarship. You want to know who #2 is ??? The Camden County Wildcats !!!!!!!! There are some facts to digest without any name calling.
