Me and my husband came down to do some fishing this past week and we were talked into fishing with a local guide named Tommy Weaver. He charged us 250 dollars then made us pay for several different things like gas and bait. We agreed because we really wanted to go fishing. Me and my husband are senior citizens and found it very uncomfortable when Tommy pulled up in a small Jon boat. We went against our better judgement and went out. 5 hours later we returned to the dock without a single fish or a bite. We ask for our money back since we didn't catch a fish and Tommy said "it's called fishing not catching" to any folks looking to book a quality fishing trip stay away from Tommy Weaver.

Several hours of chartered fishing for $250 is a steal.

Many charter boat Captains charge extra fee's and some will even keep the catch.

You don't take the Queen Mary to fish backwater.

Show me one boat Captain who refunds money for not catching fish and I'll show you a lunatic.

Don't know Weaver but I am a life long fisherman who has chartered on several occasions.

Suggest calling Lang's charters and Fernandina for a comparison before shooting off your mouth..

No, you don't expect to go fishing in shore in the Queen Mary, but you should expect a safe, secure center console or bay boat. I have never heard of having to pay extra fees for gas. Are you kidding?

I figured Tommy would be running some kind of shoe string operation, but if this is true, Tommy has taken "half ass" to a new dimension.

Also, I have never heard of a charter captain keeping the catch. If i paid for a charter and at the end of the day, the captain said, "Sorry, the fish are mine", someone is in for a good butt kickin. Most charter captains will clean the fish and package them for the refrigerator/freezer.

Who are you trying to fool, kid (or kid, fool....take your pick).

Another thing, any charter captain wort his salt will have some sure fire spots for catching SOMETHING for his charter. If you are targeting red fish or trout and you strike out, you take your charter to a sure fire whiting drop or black drum hole.

You make sure they have something to take home and show for the good money they spent.

And paying for bait? You can't be serious.

Back when I was chartering, I would pack a good lunch and provide drinks for all on board.

Speaking charter fishing in general.

Many small boat Captains have added fuel charges during the last several years. I agree about bait, never heard about that before.

"Who are you trying to fool, kid (or kid, fool....take your pick)."

Get out once in a while its a wonderful world.

Aikane Sportfishing has been in business for over 17 years and we are the only deep sea fishing charter boat in Hawaii that allows you to" KEEP WHAT YOU CATCH". Just one example.

I'm sure you had to look all over the world before you found an area where the boat kept the fish. Why don't you check around GA/FL and see. This is crazy. Never heard of the boat keeping the fish around here.

Gulfstream II and Thunderstar in Charleston used to clean the catch and package it for the fishermen. If you needed a cooler, they had inexpensive styrofoam coolers for $2-3 and they would pack the fish in shaved ice for you.

Molly everyone knows a person with the use of 1 arm can not drive a jon boat. I have been in the river with him alot and he does not keep fish. Ask anyone that he has ever fished with unless its a tournament his is catch and release unless someone he knows wants them.
So I'm calling you a F@#$ LIAR here now.
I have fished here alot with and without tommy. And there are days fish dont bite.
Now give me a captain's number that will give me a refund if I dont catch fish. I want to go on the next full moon.
What I think is you are 1 of the several that are pissed on DNR forcing city to go by the law.
If you think its going to hurt his feelings it will not.
his sister and myself was telling him they dont bother anyone but I see we were wrong. You will lie cheat and steal to get what you want. Go take it up with city or DNR
Thinking of it get some names that has ever seen him in a jon-boat after he had brain surgery back mid 1980s

Never implied the boat keeping the fish around here. Try taking a reading comprehension course.

The point being a charter captain runs his operation as he feels. Periode.

Lived and fished here for nearly thirty years. Sure you can always catch something if your willing on a bad day to settle for a three eyed grunt fish up in North River.

Also lived on both coasts, Hawaii, Guam, and fished Alaska. Still return for charter fishing. So no I didn't have to look all over the world I've lived all over the world.

Jay, That crap does not bother me. Its just they are ashamed that a few stupid rednecks got the better of them and the law is on our side.
Molly S. must be one of them so called cruisersthat cant afford a house or the taxes of a house.

Phil Jones and his wife has my respect they have a home here pay taxes here and I have never seen Phil not being respectful to other boaters while getting his boat ready to go sailing.
These other cruisers just kept taking and taking until we had to get DNR involved.

Unless Molly has deep pockets, you'll be doing something sailors learn early on about which side of the boat to relieve oneself.

I chartered out of Isle of Palms (SC) Marina for 21 years. I chartered out of St. Simons Marina for 12 years. I retired from fishing in 2008. I just got too old for the work required.

Fished a Albemarle 27 Express during most of my time in Charleston. Changed to a 31 Fountain on St. Simons and then an Everglades 223 when I started winding down.

I made enough money during my career to invest well for a good retirement. When you get to where I am, you can belittle providing good service and good fishing to your customers. But right now you are just the little fish in this little pond.

You and your little friend are just little dust devils around here (enough "littles" for you?). You want to be a big blow, but the two of you are just little blow-hards.

If you don't straighten yourselves out, you will never amount to anything more. It's probably too late for you already. But good luck, regardless.

Just don't try to tell me about charter fishing, I've done everything you have and much, much more.
