In case anyone missed this important economic news, here you go. Guess I don't need to say, Thank you, Mr. President, but we all should give credit when and where due.

(11 Jul 2013) "Rising tax revenues, public spending cuts and big payments to the Treasury from state-backed mortgage firms helped the government take in $117 billion more last month than it paid out, the U.S. Treasury said on Thursday.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a smaller surplus of $39.5 billion.

June's surplus was the largest for that month on record.

An improving economy and tax hikes enacted earlier in the year led government receipts to rise to $287 billion, up 10 percent from a year earlier.

Also driving the surplus in June, state-backed mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were bailed out by taxpayers in the wake of the financial crisis but have since returned to profitability, poured billion of dollars into public coffers."

See, tailored tax hikes can do good things despite what Fox News and Republicans tell you. Trust the Democratic Party, they know how to run things right. Republicans, not so much, to wit, Bush/Cheney reign of destruction we're still cleaning up.

So you don't think cutting the Gov't employees saleries by 20 percent made much difference? I did note our congress didn't include themselves in this venture, almost as smug as our city council!

I am especially appreciative of the 33% hike in capital gains coupled with that little Medicare Tax attached to gains. I'm glad I wisely invested so I could turn profits over to your inept hero in da DC hood and further support some worthless baby factory through one of the many social programs.

The ONLY cuts in spending were federal wage reduction through sequestration. Repayment of taxpayer funded loans are just that. Obama had nothing to do with making that happen. And now my favorite, tax hikes. He did have something to do with that. So screw you, your hero, and your public relations spun surplus.

I used to think that Former Republican Voter and NFL Guy were the biggest fools on Topix. We can now add The Taxman to the list.

I think there's a good chance they are the same person.

just saying but it's pretty clear obama ain't never going get a lick of credit for any damn thing from this crowd of hawaiian hater no matter how many great things he gets done in his eight years time. i mean he's ended not one war but two then stopped the great recession and started rebuilding the country then passed health care that will look after forty million more americans then saved the automobile industry then started shrinking and reducing the deficit and debt mess started by bush and cheney and on and on and on some more. but he'll be hated till the day he dies by these hawaiian haters no matter and you know we all know it too, you ain't fooling anybody.

i am sure serious he'll never get credit or a thanks for any thing he does. some people just hate him and that wrong overrides any rational thought in a lot of folks in the south, look to our acceptance history of basic civil rights for plenty of evidence.
