Hey, I have a family of 5 and I didn't choose to make this income. When I started my family I made great money and now I made $14,000 last year due to lay offs. I don't think a lot of people are choosing to be poor right now. And don't try to make people feel bad when they are taking advantage of what is offered. They didn't mess up the budget and if they don't take the money allocated they won't balance the budget. I think normal people are hurting right now, not dead beats.

You people make me sick, sitting on your high horse and telling people that they are deadbeats. I am a young, married female with a B.F.A, an M.B.A, a soror, a member of the business society, top 2% of my graduating class, and the list goes on and friggin on of my credentials. I just graduated last September! The problem with all of that?!?! I can not find a job, and out of 786 job applications in one of my TWO fields over the past year has only gotten my one reply from a job in ANGOLA! My resume was written by a professional!
Last year I paid my taxes! I also worked and made $12,000. Now because I made less than you did (most of which you probably got back in a tax refund that is probably biger than mine) I am supposed to feel guilty for applying for food stamps or bill help!?!?! SHUT UP and go read the Hitler novel you've put down to post on this site!
What is wrong with people today? No one wants to help anyone any more, but not only that, no one wants to see anyone else help anyone! I am a good person, I am not a deadbeat, I am educated, and the economy is terrible, and I NEED (not want) help!Just don't say anything if its so disgusting to think that the government might have programs for people who are not selling their souls to make a quick dollar! Why? Because you make yourself look like a douchebag!

Educated88, I do not know what your degrees are in but unless it is something to do with the medical profession, military, or Social Services you probably won't find employment here.

As to feeling you are deserving help, well what is wrong with your husband? If he doesn't work, why not? Then you might also check out Hardies, McDonalds, Popeyes, Wal-mart, K-Mart, etc.

In my opinion you want help but have not exhausted all avenues available to take care of your needs yourself and therefore have not reached the stage that I want my tax dollars going to support you.

Uh, mine is $400+ also.
Nobody is home until 5:00pm M-F & AC is on a energy saver. It goes up to 8o deg. in the day.
Dishes are hand washed, Laundry done on the weekend after 6:00pm or early am.
I don't see how else to cut it. It's just that electric is high & Camden county will suck you dry on all utilities.

NO they choose to sit on their back sides and continue to breed. Then when tax time rolls around they get earned income credit on taxes that they haven't paid in but you and I have and they get a bundle of our money to boot. I am sick of it.

I have started cutting off my water heater everyday. my first month was over a hundred dollars savings. so now that is an everyday routine. I turn it on when I get home from work, after everyone has showers I turn it off. so now on average it is on about 5 hours every afternoon. we have plenty of hot water and I see the savings on my electric bill. Also unplug every countertop appliance. I was recently told that the biggest electric hog is the tv cable box, that they were not regulated with the requirements like other items, but have not researched this.

anon this is interesting. It brought out other questions. I wonder if your idea might be it's own discussion. A savings of 100 dollars a month works out to 1200 a year. This is a lot of money.

Funny you have no power at your home yet you still have access to the Internet. Maybe even a cell phone? Funny how some people have their priorities all jacked up.
