I could hear the chuckles county wide when he suggested putting deputies on motorcycles. Anyone who has ventured out past Walmart in Camden County knows that Camden still remains very rural in many areas. That position might carry some weight in an inner city environment such as Tampa, Atlanta, and jacksonville. But it won't work in Camden. Every crook in the county will knows all they have to do is hit a dirt road and the motorcycle cop is useless. I think he has impressive credentials but remains so out of touch with the needs of Camden County law enforcement. He will split the anti-Bill vote and secure the election for Bill Smith. If I'm Bill Smith I'm hoping for a few more candidates.

I voted for Rich Gamble last time. I had not met him when i voted before. I have met him recently and will again support him not only with my vote, but financially. He seems to be an upstanding, well educated, and experienced man with great ideas.

I will also vote for him.He has good ideas, and well educated, he cant be bought by anyone. He is a good man. He sometimes gets oof course, but he is a good man. Bill buys votes, and is a crook.

He is a good man but his previous job with NCIS is far different than running a county sheriff's office. Given Camden's history in electing sheriff's, I'm not expecting much.

Boner, runiing the sheriffs office is like running a business, and Rich Gamble has what it takes, sorry you feel that way.He is a little too cocky, but maybe he will humble down a little. But he is better than the one we got now.

I disagree that Rich "has what it takes". His idea to put the majority of deputies on motorcycles is absurd. Given the fact that they cover almost 700 square miles with 5, or 4 deputies...those deputies have to carry everything they might need in their cars. Where will you put the rifle, the Stinger (stop-sticks), the Jump Bag (medical bag...most deputies are First Responders), and the AED (defibrillator)? Oh...not to mention the jack that most deputies carry to help motorists change tires.
Rich Gamble might be a qualified candidate, but the first thing he needs to learn is that this ain't Atlanta. The second thing he needs to learn is what his county really needs from it's law enforcement agency. Then, maybe, he can pose himself as a candidate.
Any "candidate" who throws out such a poorly thought-out idea, right out of the gate, has lost my vote, right then and there.
Think, people....you're voting for a Sheriff. Not a name, or a color, or a resume'.

Well said! Spoken like someone who knows what it takes to be a Deputy in this county. I do.

This debate reminds me of the stupid decision a few years ago to put cops on bicycles in St. Marys. They wrote more tickets for not stopping for a police officer because most residents thought it was a kid on his bicycle playing than a real police officer. It was a dumb decision then and an even dumber decision for the CCSO now. Shows just how out of touch Gamble is with the realities of the Sheriff's Office and their responsibilities. I realize you people hate Bill Smith but at least put a candidate out there who has some kind of idea about whats going on.

Yep - I appreciate your thoughts on Mr. Gamble, but have to say it again, after reading his opening remarks in the paper I say he is a dumb ass. His thoughts about the motorcycles are beyone stupid, while motorcycles have a decidely good place in police work namely traffic enforcement the idea to place them into service in a rural county as primary responce vehicles is absurd. In addition his ideas of cutting the number of people in the sheriff office is even more absurd.

He lost last time and he will lose this time, it aint about color, race, sex, religion or any of that stuff, it's about who has the best plan for the job, thats it , period........

Yep it's still there..........

Hey Elect Rich so I can ride my Sheriff's Motorcycle down a dirt road with 18 inch sand ruts in it. I might get hurt or even killed but Sheriff Rich will be saving gas.

But maybe I will be assigned to his interstate profile team he has dubbed his "Fly Team" on crotch rockets.

We have lost an office about one every 10 or 15 years. Now we will be loosing an officer yearly due to non observant drivers and deputies on motorcycles.

Don't Gamble with Deputies lives to save gas!

Don't you think the man is smart enough to buy some of the BMW crossover sport bikes, that ride on dirt and highway and will run 150 mph+, he might spend the drug money more smartly, gosh I hope so
