Heard that there was a fire at Shabangs about a week ago and that they have not announced a date to re-open. Anyone have any insight? I wonder if it will re-open at all???

No fire. Just something overheated.

Hmmm...makes it seem even stranger to me then because the sign on the door says there was a fire and their answering machine says that they are closed due to a fire. I would hate to see yet another business close and to have more people unemployed in Camden County. Guess I'll look for a new salon.

A fire this morning at pelican point apartments is suspicious also.

Judged:
1 Evidently, they are closed. They cannot even be reached by phone and they didn't notify their customers of the closing. The fire was a very minor thing--an appliance used for melting wax for hair removal overheated. It may be that they used the "fire" as an excuse to close. I also heard that they are trying to sell their equipment. Looks like another unfortunate victim of the recession. |

More like $35-$45 for a hair cut, not the recession. This is St Marys -Kingsland and the average person doesn't pay that for a cut.
Did the fire or whatever it was take place while it was open or closed? Goldbrick, I don't know why they'd need an excuse to close. But what you said about selling their equipment is very suspicious? I wonder if the fire department investigated? |

It was investigated that same day, the fire marshall was there and the insurance adjuster was on the scene the same day. Something in the back, at the spa area caught on fire, but what is even more suspicious is that the owner was about to file bankruptcy now she will get a pile of money. High priced salons are becoming a thing of the past, you don't have to pay $120 to be glamorous, everyone has cut back on expenses, cheaper is better and you can still look fabolous.

They recently had several of their employees leave to seek employment elsewhere, due to talk of closing the salon before the end of the year.
I was a customer for several years, and followed my hairdresser to the new salon at Ospry Cove. I LOVE THAT PLACE! Prices about the same, but much friendlier staff and a beautiful salon and view of the greens. |

I had an appointment scheduled at Shabangs for the end of the week that the fire occurred, and I did receive a phone call from them telling me they would be closed. I was told there had been an actual fire (a small fire, limited to one room in the spa area) and that they would re-open the next week on Tuesday. I arrived on Tuesday for my appointment only to find them still closed, no one answering the phone line and no space left on the voice mail to leave a message. My regular stylist had already let shortly before, so I took it as a message that I needed to find a new one altogether. Now, I am off to On the Green.
