Homeland Insecurity: The White House assures that tracking our every phone call and keystroke is to stop terrorists, and yet it won't snoop in mosques, where the terrorists are.

That's right, the government's sweeping surveillance of our most private communications excludes the jihad factories where homegrown terrorists are radicalized.

Since October 2011, mosques have been off-limits to FBI agents. No more surveillance or undercover string operations without high-level approval from a special oversight body at the Justice Department dubbed the Sensitive Operations Review Committee.

Who makes up this body, and how do they decide requests? Nobody knows; the names of the chairman, members and staff are kept secret.

We do know the panel was set up under pressure from Islamist groups who complained about FBI stings at mosques. Just months before the panel's formation, the Council on American-Islamic Relations teamed up with the ACLU to sue the FBI for allegedly violating the civil rights of Muslims in Los Angeles by hiring an undercover agent to infiltrate and monitor mosques there.

Before mosques were excluded from the otherwise wide domestic spy net the administration has cast, the FBI launched dozens of successful sting operations against homegrown jihadists — inside mosques — and disrupted dozens of plots against the homeland.

If only they were allowed to continue, perhaps the many victims of the Boston Marathon bombings would not have lost their lives and limbs. The FBI never canvassed Boston mosques until four days after the April 15 attacks, and it did not check out the radical Boston mosque where the Muslim bombers worshiped.

The bureau didn't even contact mosque leaders for help in identifying their images after those images were captured on closed-circuit TV cameras and cellphones.

One of the Muslim bombers made extremist outbursts during worship, yet because the mosque wasn't monitored, red flags didn't go off inside the FBI about his increasing radicalization before the attacks.

This is particularly disturbing in light of recent independent surveys of American mosques, which reveal some 80% of them preach violent jihad or distribute violent literature to worshipers.

What other five-alarm jihadists are counterterrorism officials missing right now, thanks to restrictions on monitoring the one area they should be monitoring?

Excerpt from the article is very telling. Why is Obama giving the mosques a pass?

IBD is a very credible publication. We subscribe to the newspaper and consider it superior to Wall Street Journal. This is concerning.

I think your being a little naive especially as the current events are unfolding. Truth is a foreign word within the Obama administration. They are puppet masters of the mass media and use this source to further their agenda. If it's in our advantage to make them think mosques are offlimits great and they will leak set up examples just to confirm this notion.

Timothy McVeigh, born in New York State, raised Catholic, Bronze Star recipient, NRA member, Republican and later Libertarian, never stepped foot in a Mosque.
168 dead including 19 daycare center children, and some 400 wounded.
Once again I agree with some of LP's post, but I think LP, sometimes you suffer from tunnel vision.
By their own admission, the Feds dropped the ball on the Boston bombers when they didn't heed or follow up on information supplied by Russian intelligence on the older brother.
But then again, who knows......

While very few Muslims are terrorists, almost all terrorists these days are Muslims. We need to focus our resources where they are most likely to yield results.

Hmmm, I'll call your Timothy McVeigh and raise you the FBI's murder of Randy Weavers wife and son, and the ATF/FBI's murder of David Coresh and the 70 people who burned to death when said agents set the building on fire>?

Very true, or at least Muslim inspired. But there is a growing fringe element, some Christian Jihadists, that though they may confuse Muslim for muslin, are fanatical enough to start brewing their own brand of home grown havoc.

Our population has become so diverse that you don't know what shoulder to be looking over.

McVeigh was brought to a boiling point over Waco and Ruby Ridge, specifically the shooting you mention. In fact he told investigators he had contemplated going the sniper route versus bomber, naming his first target Lon Horiuchi, the FBI sniper who shot Weaver's wife and child. I guess he went for the biggest results obtainable in a single effort.

So, is it your contention that FBI and ATF actions were acts of terrorism, of just cluster phucks of great proportion?

When are you sad people going to understand, the government is not your friend. STFU and accept your fate? Those in Washington are for themselves. The big money is in the Middle East. US taxpayers have been sucked dry and have no money. Your government is being bought and sold to the highest bidder and it aint you.
Start now taking back control of your government.

Vote Libertarian: less government, more freedom.
