Ohhh, for the children, for the children. Not one firearm law proposed by either side of the aisle would have prevented Sandy Hook. Nope, not even confiscation. As for OK, how could anyone even know? Maybe the children were in a storm shelter area of their building. Seeing as this morning they were claiming it may have been one of the strongest tornadoes on record, maybe current building codes weren't prepared for it. Obviously they weren't prepared for a massive tsunami in Thailand either.

You cannot simply blame acts of nature on politics. You can however blame how it is handled afterwards. To the best of my knowledge neither side of the aisle has a very good record.

Typical Right Wing "cop out".
When the crap hits the fan, and all those Right Wing hypocritical greedy demands and positions come home to roost, let's just avoid dealing with the idiocy of Right Wing positions.
No Sir.
Right Winger need to be held accountable for the positions they take, and the statements they make.
Let's let Right Wingers against strong building codes explain how in the tear 2013, storm shelters or basements aren't required in "tornado alley".
Strong building codes, and that hated government that enforces them - save lives.
Let's let Right Wingers who criticized and ridiculed poor blacks in New Orleans for not taking shelter criticize and ridicule average white folks in Oklahoma.
Let's let Right Wingers who continually demand the government's resources be cut, especially the Right Wing Wacko Oklahoma senators and representatives who voted against funding FEMA, explain now why more help can't be provided those folks in Oklahoma, and how they were completely wrong, so it doesn't happen again.
Right Wingers love to run and hide when the real world intrudes in their fantasies - but death, destruction, and suffering always follow.
Children, in Sandy Hook, or Oklahoma, always pay the highest price for Right Wing policies.
If you really give a damn about those kids, join us in fighting for moderate responsible policies that protect kids, instead of those that endanger them.
Since your spleen has busted and the venom is flowing out, perhaps you might explain why you liberaces havent built storm shelters, made stronger buildings, and protected the young in florida and other States. Explain why the liberaces havnt protected the folks in Louisana from Katrina(you were in charge). Explain why liberaces havnt protected the folks in NYC from Sandy(you were in charge).

Tell us again about how you left wing socialists are gonna protect us from natural disasters. You gonna dig shelters within every block in America's towns? You gonna put up windscreens against 200 mph winds? You gonna amass a quick response team every 5 miles within a city?

Us conservatives just want some answers from you sorry leftist socialists what are you gonna do??? Besides bit*h and complain about conservatives.

The Republican governor of OKLA declared a disaster, Obama (to save face and voters) agreed to provide disaster aid.

Each State is required to declare a disaster in order to receive federal aid in the form of low interest loans. All other aid to disaster is provided by local responders, out of State volunteer responders, charitable organizations, churches, red cross, etc.

All Obama did was fulfill his lawful requirements for federal monetary aid.

The real help comes from locals.

Good post.

Obama prayed to the Devil for a respite from his trifecta problems. The devil, being devious, said he would answer with a 200 mph tornado and put a bug in the ear of liberaces the tornado was the fault of repubs.
Obama with glee will go golfing today, shoot his usual crummy score and come back home to Michelle, and decide he needs to go golfing more.
But the congressional hearings will go on and Obama will have to say many prayers.

Government incompetence is the norm, not the exception.
What private enterprise can do for $10, it takes $5,000 for government to do.

It's been proven over and over repubs are bigger givers to charity than the cheap skate liberal socialists.

Liberals like to stand up in public and brag "see how much I give."
While repubs give from the heart and keep it private between them and their Lord.

People give in different ways. How could you possibly put "giving" into a republican or democrat category? People are people.

Laws that are written today are not intended to effect the tragedies of the past, but to prevent or mitigate the tragedies of tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see how Federal Disaster Aid plays out for Oklahoma following the tragic tornadoes.
Senators Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn, both Republicans, are fiscal hawks who have repeatedly voted against funding disaster aid for other parts of the country. They also have opposed increased funding for FEMA which administers federal disaster relief.
Late last year, Inhofe and Coburn both backed a plan to slash disaster relief to victims of Hurricane Sandy. In 2011, both opposed legislation that would have granted necessary funding for FEMA when the agency was set to run out of money. Sending the funds to FEMA would have been "unconscionable," Coburn said at the time.
I hope those who survived the tragic tornadoes survive the poor voting choices Oklahoma's voters have made.
Voting Republican has real-world consequences to real people.
Make no mistake about it. The Obama administration is dancing in the isles about this latest weather disaster. Not about the loss of life and possessions, but about the timing. They THINK it will take attention away from the trifecta. It won't. Obama's chief counsel knew about the IRS situation since last month.

Federal Emergency and Disaster Declarations
The President can issue a disaster declaration if:

- A state submits a local emergency declaration and a state emergency proclamation
- The situation is beyond the capabilities of the state and local governments

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/20...
The President today declared a major disaster exists in the State of Oklahoma and ordered Federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by severe storms and tornadoes beginning on May 18, 2013, and continuing.

The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in the counties of Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, Oklahoma, and Pottawatomie.

Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.

Federal funding also is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work in the counties of Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, Oklahoma, and Pottawatomie.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster in Oklahoma as the state recovers from a massive tornado that ripped through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, killing dozens and flattening entire neighborhoods.
Obama has ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts. Individuals and business owners affected by the disaster may apply for federal grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs.
The president promised federal assistance in a phone conversation earlier Monday with Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has sent a special team to Oklahoma's emergency operations center to help out and dispatch resources.
As he should. At least he's not leaving for a major fundraising trip as he has in the past when a catastrope is occuring.

Ain't it humorous to watch all these Right Wing Wackos who slurp up all those benefits created with the blood and sweat of union workers, tell us all how bad unions are.
They love the 40 hour work week, overtime pay, vacations, family leave, minimum wage, safe working conditions, Social Security, Medicare, and the hundreds other benefits that allow them to live decent lives:
Then whine like little girls whenever some worker somewhere has a benefit they don't.
It's fine with these buffoons if some guy inherits billions and pays no taxes - but God forbid that some cop has a pension.
As the unions die, and the working class becomes more and more simply serfs to the ruling class, they'll continue to tell us how bad unions are, while they live in their cardboard boxes begging Romney for the chance to pilfer his garbage can for a chance to feed their kids.
And still they'll never learn.
Ah well... My pension check arrived last week with a nice COLA raise - thanks F.O.P.
Blah blah blah blah The only one slurping up government benefits is YOU.
