Interesting:
In early April Obama's approval rating was at 51%. Today it's at 53%.
It's going up. Sane Americans see the politicizing the Republicans are doing and rejecting it.

Well hell, when the idiot population increases in this country from 51% to 53% that quick, either the polls are wrong, or Obama has influence over the polls, or the increase in idiocy is growing at an alarming rate.

Glad to report I'm not one of the idiots but I know a few here on topix who are.

As to mandatory public service- We already have mandatory public service, but it's only mandatory for Americans from families without other options. It should be mandatory for All Americans. We wouldn't be wasting Trillions of dollars and thousands of our troops if the "elite"s children might be forced to risk being blown to bits in the sand of Iraq along with the poor kid from rural Georgia, or the Bronx.
.
I'll take these on in separate posts. First of all, how dare you denigrate military service like that. NO ONE is dragging kids off the streets and making them enlist, we have a 100% voluntary military. For kids who have no idea what to do with their lives or who do not have the finances to go to college but know they want something more than they can achieve on their own, the military is a great way to be productive and learn some skills and either use those skills in a civilian job or use veterans loans to then go on to college. One of my kids was in a college class with a young man who did just that. It's actually quite impressive, given the probability today of getting sent to an active war zone , that the military has no problem in recruiting.
I know kids from very comfortable families whose children wanted to serve their country in the military. Some are in the academies and some are enlisted - one family with one son who just graduated from an academy and another who just enlisted. So don't give me this hogwash about how only the poor with no other options are in the military. It's garbage.

No, you're not describing America under Republicans like Eisenhower and Teddy Roosevelt.
What you are describing is a watered downed version of Trotskyism.
Otherwise known as IO's own little version of government.
Life would be so much easier for you if you had attended a grade school that taught history.

Oh Little Comrade:

Now take your little commie Trotskyist rear end to the medicine cabinet,
where you keep those little pills that socialist Medicare Part D provides,
prescribed by that doctor we taxpayers provide you with that socialist Medicare,
in the house we help you pay for with that Socialist Security.

It's so silly, you surviving on socialist programs,

accusing us actual income earners of being socialists,(as if that was necessarily a bad thing anyway).

How cute.

In other words, just because someone is against BO, it doesn't mean they were happy with W.

Yeah, Obama REALLY cares about the children. Guess that debt he keeps adding to and expecting the children to pay doesn't count.

You know the drugs you live on with that Socialist Medicare don't allow you to stay up late with the normal folks.

Just call the nurse and she'll empty your bed pan and set the alarm on the doors to the ward, so your nephew doesn't have to search for you again, when you walk away from that facility where you live that Medicaid provides.

Tomorrow, after oatmeal, and you get your teeth back from the nurses, you can tell us all how you did it ion the old days, before you became completely dependent on my tax dollars.

Right Wing Wackos have a three major problems they can never confront because it demonstrates the total bankruptcy of their positions.
They want America to be a "Christian" nation, yet they despise everything that liberal, socialist, commie, "Libtard" Jesus Christ preached ; and
They cannot argue against the fact that whenever Right Wingers are in charge - the deficits explode, the debt doubles or triples, we waste Trillions playing war, and the wealth travels upward to the top 1% faster than ever.
They benefit more from government programs than any other group, but tax breaks and subsidies to them- that ain't welfare.
Those facts make their positions unworthy of serious consideration.
They know it, but can't accept it.
"Accountability" and "rationality" just ain't in their vocabularies.
Well, HYPOCRITE, you've out-lied yourself. What you call facts are just made up crap that is actually your worthless opinion. How about TRYING to post something worth reading with an ounce of truth to it. You've not done that, YET.

And by the way, the phrase "Jus Sayin' " is really silly coming from someone your age...
Why do you care? How does this affect your life in any way?

Barack Obama $16.4 trillion
Bush II added 5 trillion in 8 years, less than his daddy at 4 trillion in 4 years. Obama 6 trillion in 4 years.
Facts are facts and hyperbole is hyperbole.

I understand suggesting reading a book to Right Wing Wackos is like asking Dracula to eat garlic.
But give knowledge a try, and perhaps you'll get a grasp on why you'll never see a moderate or progressive allowed to run for national office, until wealth and income disparity is reversed.
Here's a great book -
"What Then Must We Do?: Straight Talk About the Next American Revolution"
author: Gar Alperovitz
Gar Alperovitz is a professor of political economy at the University of Maryland and a co-founder of the Democracy Collaborative. His books include "The Decision to Use the Atomic Bomb" and "America Beyond Capitalism."
I don't want a progressive to run for office. That proves Obama is an extreme left wing liberal. He wants to SHARE THE WEALTH therefore opening the door to a progressive.'nuff said.

I like this one......

"Penny Pritzker: Obama's Worst Insult to His Left-Wing Base."

From a liberal blog.....

"Susie Madrak of the "Crooks and Liars" blog, reacting to Pritzker's nomination in a piece entitled, "Obama Nominates Sleazy Subprime Banker As Commerce Secretary," wrote:

Time for a little stroll down memory lane. This is what I wrote about Penny Pritzer, Obama's just-announced appointee as Commerce Secretary, back in February:

Penny Pritzker, union buster.

Penny Pritzker, sub-prime lender who drove Superior Bank into the ground.

Penny Pritzker, Chicago Board of Ed members who thinks your children only deserve enough education to make them a member of the workforce.

Penny Pritzker, billionaire tax dodger.

Penny Pritzker, potential Secretary of Commerce nominee? Is this a joke?"

IO must love Penny.
