Well, that excludes this poster...
2 points (which someone may have already addressed) where this poster is wrong (but why let the facts get in the way of a good story):
1. The claim that the top 10% of wage earners have 80% of the income is wrong, WAY WRONG (I've addressed several times before). Let's see if the uninformed poster has the cajones to do the research and post the appropriate numbers...Don't expect it.
2. Bringing payroll taxes into the "discussion" is disingenuous, at best, but the clueless and uneducated wont' get it. The vast majority of "payroll taxes" are withholding (actually like a deposit) for federal, state and local income taxes, and Social Security payments, which, generally, are matched by the employer. One could somewhat consider SS payments as deposits, too. Most other withholdings are relatively minor in $ compared to income tax withholdings and SS withholdings.
The above discussion can be compared with those held with people that don't know the difference between gross income, adjusted gross income and taxable income.
It's interesting when the clueless and uneducated try to incorporate federal taxes (WE ALL PAY, like gasoline taxes) and compare them to INCOME TAXES, which only some of us pay. Apples and oranges, but the clueless and uneducated won't get it...
Nice try.

Riddle me this, has it ever been illegal to be a communist, a muslim, a jew, a catholic, an atheist, or a negro.
Who were the real unAmericans during the late 40's and early 50's, those being investigated or those doing the investigation?
While many tactics used by those trying to uncover Communist sympathizers in the government were less than admirable, the fact is that regardless of his personal character, McCarthy was right. The release of the Venona papers confirmed his accusations. Try again.
========
"By 1948 the accumulating evidence from other decoded Venona cables showed that the Soviets had recruited spies in virtually every major American government agency of military or diplomatic importance. American authorities learned that since 1942 the United States had been the target of a Soviet espionage onslaught involving dozens of professional Soviet intelligence officers and hundreds of Americans, many of whom were members of the American Communist party (CPUSA)."

"The deciphered Venona messages also showed that a disturbing number of high-ranking U.S. government officials consciously maintained a clandestine relationship with Soviet intelligence agencies and had passed extraordinarily sensitive information to the Soviet Union that had seriously damaged American interests. Harry White--the second most powerful official in the U.S. Treasury Department, one of the most influential officials in the government, and part of the American delegation at the founding of the United Nations--had advised the KGB about how American diplomatic strategy could be frustrated. A trusted personal assistant to President Franklin Roosevelt, Lauchlin Currie, warned the KGB that the FBI had started an investigation of one of the Soviets' key American agents, Gregory Silvermaster. This warning allowed Silvermaster, who headed a highly productive espionage ring, to escape detection and continue spying. Maurice Halperin, the head of a research section of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), then America's chief intelligence arm, turned over hundreds of pages of secret American diplomatic cables to the KGB. William Perl, a brilliant young government aeronautical scientist, provided the Soviets with the results of the highly secret tests and design experiments for American jet engines and jet aircraft. His betrayal assisted the Soviet Union in quickly overcoming the American technological lead in the development of jets. In the Korean War, U.S. military leaders expected the Air Force to dominate the skies, on the assumption that the Soviet aircraft used by North Korea and Communist China would be no match for American aircraft. They were shocked when Soviet MiG-15 jet fighters not only flew rings around U.S. propeller-driven aircraft but were conspicuously superior to the first generation of American jets as well. Only the hurried deployment of America's newest jet fighter, the F-86 Saber, allowed the United States to match the technological capabilities of the MiG-15. The Air Force prevailed, owing more to the skill of American pilots than to the design of American aircraft."

And then there were the atomic secrets disclosed to the Soviets.

Nice try, but none of this shows that being a communist (either as a member of the American Communist Party or someone who believes in the soical system called communism) or a communist sympathizer is illegal.

Nor does it show that those who were spying for the Soviet Union were communists or communist sympathizers.

What it does show is that you firmly believe in guilt by association.

Uhmmm, "recruited" does that mean that people were blackmailed.

That Cognitive Dissonance must really hurt.

Cashing your Social Security check on the way to the V.A. Clinic, after your operation paid by Medicare, making you feel good enough to go fishing on the TVA lake, before visiting Mom at her Medicaid provided Nursing Home, hardly leaves time to post about how "others" are socialist.

Thankfully, you can always take a walk in the nearby National Forests or State Parks to relax.

Why - It may not be illegal, but it damn well oughta be.

Our Founding Fathers and their progeny knew how to treat blacks, women, and GASP - Catholics.

That's why we gotta keep them minorities and poor folk from voting - they'll sure as hell bring that democracy thing to 'Merica, if'n we let 'em.

It screams if the government has it they will use it.
