Sharon Jasper has spent 57 of her 58 years dedicated to one cause and one cause only, and has nothing to show for her dedicated servitude...
She has lived in Section 8 housing all but 1 of her 58 years.It was a legacy passed down from her parents who moved into Section 8 housing in 1949 when she was six months old.She has passed the legacy down to her children, but fears they may have to get jobs to pay for the utilities and deposits.
She laments about her one year hiatus from the comfort of her Section 8 nirvana,I tried it for a year you know, working and all.It's not anything I would want to go through again, or wish on anyone in my family,but I am damn proud of that year.
Sharon was moved out of her St. Bernard housing project after hurricane Katrina and into a new,yet albeit, substandard quarterage.As can be noted from the above photo of her new Section 8 home, it is repugnant and not suitable for someone of Sharon Jasper's seniority status in the system.'Don't be fooled by them hardwood floors,says Sharon .They told me they were putting in scraped wood floors cause it was more expensive and elegant, but I am not a fool -- that was just a way to make me take scratched up wood because I am black.The 60 inch HD TV? It may look nice but it is not plasma. It's not a plasma because I'm black. Now they want me to pay a deposit and utilities on this dump.’'Do you know why?'
She has held her tongue in silence through the years of abuse by the system, but it came to a head at the New Orleans' city council meeting where discussions were under way about the tearing down of the St. Bernard projects.When a near riotous exchange between groups opposing the tearing down of St. Bernard and groups wanting the dilapidated buildings torn down and newer ones built,Sharon unleashed verbal hell with her once silenced tongue.The object of her oratory prowess was an acquiescent poor white boy in attendance.The context of her scathing rebuke was,'Just because you pay for my house, my car, my big screen and my food, I will not be treated like a slave!' and 'Back up and Shut up!Shut up, white boy!Shut up, white boy!'
Recapping from the mental log of the city council minutes in her head, Sharon repines,'Our families have been displaced all over the United States.They are being forced to commit crimes in cities they are unfamiliar with…It is a very uncomfortable situation for them…Bring them back, then let's talk about redevelopment.'
Sharon directs the reporter's attention across the street to Duncan Plaza where homeless people are living in tents and states that,'I might do better out there with one of these tents.' She further lamented her sentiments about her situation,'I might be poor,but I don't have to live poor.'

Stop whining!!! So it's a Black thang? is that what your'e saying? As much as your'e ancestors have stole, robbed, looted, murdered or pillaged over the centuries, section 8 housing is a small giveback! How do you think your'e ancestor obtained their wealth and secured ownership of this country??? They sure didn't aquire it the good old fashion way!! Hones hard work! Not!!!!

This just goes to show you that she grew up with the free handouts and now EXPECTS it forever and for her children and future family members and then going to complain because her floor is scratched and her 60 inch tv is not a plasma. I work and I can not afford to have a 60 inch TV let alone a plasma. I do not have a problem with helping someone, but get a damn job and also help out. don't expect to have everything in life given to you. And NO, it is not because she is black, I know there are whites that do the same thing.Just think about What if we all did this.

Sure is a lot of hostility there "OKAY" so where do I start.

First, I would like to enlighten you. It is no longer a black thang. There are more whites deadbeats emulating the black deadbeats than there are black but the blacks do have the higher percentage.

You should take a U.S. history course that was written before 1970, or before theys started re-writing it so it would be politically correct. In fact if you will look at the demographics before and after the civil war the majority of farm/land owners did not own slaves. The majority were poor farmers who worked their own land with the family and neighbors help. Also, you will find that many of the larger slave owners had their property confiscated and split among their slaves and their offspring.

I agree that the majority of blacks were brought here as slaves but I will also tell you that the living conditions here in the USA was considerably better than they were in Africa. Also, lest you forget, it was their own black brethern that sold them to the slave traders which then sold them to the rich farm owners here in the states. In fact, if your ancestors were brought here as slaves you should take a look at what is happening in their old home nations and you might get on your knees and thank the slave owners that brought your ancestors to this great nation who have offered you opportunities that are only dreamed about in your ancestors home nation.

Now, if you were a slave please identify yourself and I will do every thing in my power to see that you are adequately compensated for your work and the hardships suffered while a slave. However, I think you are the opposite which is you are either a brood sow or sperm donor who thinks that it is perfectly ok to spend your life procreating and living off the sweat of the producers in this once great nation.

As for me I choose to not put my dog in this fight. You see, my ancestors were here before either the white man or black man. Yeah, I guess you could say that my ancestors were cheated by the white man, and yes we probably have a right to be bitter about it but you know what, we were just to damn busy working to make a living and to get ahead that we didn't have time to be bitter.

You are right Sandy but the orig post starting this thread says she has spent 57 of her 58 year life span in section 8 housing.

I have no problems helping people but I do have problems with people claiming victimhood and spending their entire life on the "DOLE."

No one has a say as to whether they are born into poverty or not but they do have the rest of their life to remove themselves from poverty. If I did it, anyone can!!! OH, I NEVER USED GOVERNMENT SOCIAL PROGRAMS EITHER!!!

I am afraid that under the current administration in Washington the disease that she manifests will only spread. she and countless others are members of IFFL. THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF FREELOADERS.

First of all it was BLACKS who started slavery and they sold their own kind. Next i never owned a slave, nor did my parents or grandparents. The first people to throw the RACE CARD out ARE BLACK. I do NOT and WHITES do NOT owe them anything, they should have to get out and work just like ever one else, BUT the government GIVES them everything, for houses, pays their electric bills, for their clothing, furniture etc. WE NEED TO STAND UP AND FIGHT AGAINST THIS CRAP. I personally know a family who the father lost his job because of the economy and tried to get food stamps and money to get by until he could find a job, BUT because he was white, he only could get $120.00 a month with a family for 4. But there are black people who are MORE THAN ABLE TO WORK and gets a LOT MORE than that and they don't even know who their babies fathers are. IT IS A SHAME
