Five years later I am still pretty pissed off about having my security deposit stolen from me. It was around $2000. We lived in the apartment 13 years and there was normal wear and tear.(and we could not clean it thoroughly). There is no way they could have rented "as is" after 13 years.

They also claimed that they took our deposit for smoke damage in EVERY room when we only really smoked in one. That does not justify taking the entire deposit. The stove was caked with grease when we moved in, the rugs were stained and the toilets had huge rust stains. They then decided to blame it all on us for not fixing it. All this after they refused to to anything to stop the leaky roof (waterstains everywhere) and the clogged drain (I tried Drano for ten whole years and finally got some resolution when they realized it was a problem in the basement).

They could have withheld something, but not EVERYTHING.

I was cleaning out some papers and came across all this stuff. I am still mad and I still want my money back. I know I won't get it, so I am posting this here. He owns a lot of buildings in Conshohocken so beware.

And he can't be a very good roofer if after living in the place for 13 years, he could not fix a leak in the roof of one of his own properties. And it was one of his guys that left a blow torch burning on the roof of the Church at 4th and Fayette (which burned down).

Do not give him notice and just don't pay two months rent. Too bad, because I liked the guy until he stole my money.

So there you go.$2000 worth of bad publicity. Hope it was worth STEALING my money.

It sounds like you need http://SecurityDepositRefund.org . 2k is a big sum to lose. After being a tenant for that many years, your deposit should have also been gathering interest. This is a free service that bills only of your deposit is recovered. You should report your landlord at http://ReportLandlord.com . Don't let landlords steal deposits!

Why do you say that? The only thing it provides is a place for people to report bad landlords for free. How is that a scam?

NO idot. I lived there for 13 years. there is something called "Normal Wear and Tear." And the place was a mess when we moved in. Like 20 years of caked on grease on the stove that would not come off. The guy turned around and blamed it on me. It was actually only FOUR years ago. And yes, I hold a grudge a long time. I noticed this board, which prompted me to relive that nightmare.

Report it at http://ReportLandlord.com and go to http://SecurityDepositRefund.org a non-profit organization that assists renters to get help. It took about two months but my landlord refunded me through this agency.

Hello! I have been looking for reviews for securitydepositrefund.org to see if it's a legitimate site and haven't had much luck. Can you let me know about your experience? I applied ont he site and haven't heard anything back in about a week.
