<quoted text> WOW jpm, I see that the post went completely over your head! What I was saying and what should have been clear from the post was that the middle east, places such as where Jesus was born and where he lived and died, is where you can find "proof".....
what type of proof are you speaking of? Have you seen proof yourself?

<quoted text> Obviously, you have not researched what is going on here in King...the monument was paid for BY VETS...all of the names that are on the monument ARE CHRISTIANS....No ONE is speaking for everyone or imposing any religion on anyone, as you tend to argue...
Once again the monument is on GOVERNMENT property, it encompasses a small area of the park. How do you know that ALL honored there were Christians? You are imposing religion when you state that you want to help others save their souls from damnation, fire and brimstone, which is a scare tactic.

First, you are not a resident of King. I live here. High Point is a city of diversity. There is no diversity here. I'm just going to put it out there, racism is abundant. Yes, there are citizens that are genuine in faith, good, honorable people. However, when religion is used for cruel purposes and to exclude others that are not of christian faith is wrong. Not abiding by city ordinances is wrong. Where were the flags flying before this issue? nowhere but the park. Not my business who or what anyone believes in. Also I noticed MANY churches here in King are not displaying the flag? Why is that?
Who exactly are you referrin to as being excluded? NOBODY is saying that ONLY the Christian flag should be flown...Obviously, that is what the VETS that paid for the monument wanted to be flown, it is in NO WAY an endorsement by the City of King....SO MANY are SO MISINFORMED, even the reisidents of King....since you are here in King, why don't you make a visit down to Central Park and be enlightened?

Words can be twisted; the cultural understanding of words can shift over time. To truly understand the meaning of documents you must evaluate it with an understanding of what the words meant to the people who penned them and their contemporaries. Case in point prior to the declaration of independence most protestants held services in ‘Meeting Houses’ the term ‘Church’ was exclusively reserved for the Church Of England.
How could that fact be used define Jefferson’s letter.

You are not understanding. The monument does not sit upon private property, it is on Government property. I am well informed. I am intelligent enough to know and see that city ordinances are not being followed (ordinances are posted online), newspaper is biased. City manager was quoted stating that atheists and agnostics need not come there and fly a flag? Is that exclusion? Not interested in your "enlightenment" , I am comfortable with myself and my spirituality.

If not an endorsement of the city of King, why place it in a public, city maintained park?

I do not think that one is offended that you do not believe. It is a christians job to put the word out there so you may believe as well. We want the best for you and want you to share with you a better life and after life.
Now you sound just like the Taliban...

I had decided to leave this "hate God" debate, but, I came across something and just had to share it.

This is for the Christian.[I know God haters won't look at it]

WAS THE FOUNDING OF AMERICA A SIN AND A MILITARY INSURRECTION AS ONE NATIONALLY KNOWN PASTOR HAS SAID? ARE ALL GOVERNMENTS APPROVED OF GOD? DID GOD RAISE UP HITLER? IS CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE BIBLICAL UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCE?

And a catalog of more information here:

And now I retire this conversation. I'm sorry that I can't be in King to support the fight for our faith, but know I'm there in heart and spirit.

Blessings to my brothers and sisters in Christ, and for His cause.

No they do not. But they are. Because to not believe in something, you must believe in something. And if they didn't believe, then why do they struggle so to eliminate something that, in their opinion, does not exist?

Think about it.

According to the definition of religion, atheism cannot be a religion. Not that I am aware of. You must believe in a deity or deities or you must believe in a system of values to live by. I don't know of any commonality amongst all atheists except they don't believe in any deity.

You are wrong, my friend, atheism is the absence of belief. That is all.

opec, I believe you totally misunderstand atheism. We don't hate god. We just don't believe in him. You may be misinterpreting hate when we bring up the cruelty of the god of the bible. Nevertheless, we don't believe in god.
