Without “prohibiting the free exercise of religion, or abridging the freedom of speech”, can a government consisting of “We the people” truly ‘separate’ from religious faiths? Was the first amendments intent to remove all religious influence from government (or in our case the public square) or about removing all government influence from religion i.e.‘Government controlled Religions’?
Next they will want to prohibit people of faith from seeking public office.

In no way am I being unreasonable....I'm simply being honest. Unreasonable is someone like the city manager or many others who post to this forum who have plainly stated that the only flag that should be flown there is the "christian" flag...and that my friend is unreasonable!

Folks Educate yourselves. Consider sources. Words can be twisted; the cultural understanding of words can change over time. To truly understand the meaning of documents you must evaluate it with an understanding of what the words meant to the people who penned them and their contemporaries. Case in point prior to the declaration of independence most protestants held services in ‘Meeting Houses’ the term ‘Church’ was exclusively reserved for the Church Of England.

How could that fact be used define Jefferson’s letter.

Educate yourselves, and decide for yourselves.

I don't believe in your father because you have provided no evidence for him. I'm not afraid of him because I don't believe in him. I would change my mind if you can give me evidence. Where is god, where is heaven? The hubble telescope can see trillions of light years in space and we have not seen heaven yet. Do you know wher hell is? How hot is it? Was Mary really a virgin? If jesus is really a compassionate being why would he place his chilren that don't believe in him into an eternal hell? Can you not see his hypocrisy? And since jesus is a hypocrite can you not see why so many christian leaders and followers are hypocritical as well? Why doesn't god put the flag back up on his own? Why do people have to donate their own money to the chruch? Can't god get his money on his own? Or is it that maybe the cronie church pastors are actually scarfing up all the donations for themselves and their use? You know that very little of your donations actually help others don't you? Religion is a sham. Who wrote the bible? Did jesus really exist? Answer these questions for yourself. Living wiothout belief is great and provides such exhilirating freedom.
it may in this life bring you the freedom you speak of,but in the afterlife when faced with eternal damnation or eternal life in heaven unless you change your way of thinking wont be so EXHILIRATING

I was going to leave this, but must share it.

This is for the Christian:

WAS THE FOUNDING OF AMERICA A SIN AND A MILITARY INSURRECTION AS ONE NATIONALLY KNOWN PASTOR HAS SAID? ARE ALL GOVERNMENTS APPROVED OF GOD? DID GOD RAISE UP HITLER? IS CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE BIBLICAL UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCE?

I'm sure you would like to present me with some evidence of the afterlife. Maybe you would like to enlighten me with some evidence for heaven or hell. Until you can, I will enjoy this life with absolutely no concern about an afterlife. I am having a great time in this one. By the way, I don't believe in unicorns or fairies either.

One thing that is for certain, should this issue come before a court; I do not think that the validity of the Christian faith will be a central issue. Our opponents want to take the discussion there rather than address other outstanding questions more pertinent to the core issue. It is a distraction pure and simple. I suggest that we do not play their game.

You are mistaken again. Those who oppose having the christian flag at the monument don't care what your beliefs are. It is a question of legality. Since the flag is there illegally, then it should be removed. That is the core of the discussion. The ones who started the religious part of this discussion were the so called christians who think that they are above the law because of their religious affiliation. Take this fight to court and let it be decided, as several cases have before this one, by the judges. In the end, this one will come out like the others. There is no place for a religious flag on government property. The government, whether it is local, state or federal, represents all of the people, not just a select few.

The Veterans own the memorial and the city owns the small patch of land that it is on. The city should give, rent of allow the Veterans to buy the land. From what I have read, there are plenty of people willing to buy the land for the Veterans. I don't think that the City of King has endorsed one religion to govern the citizens. The mayor, city manager or council members did not put the Christian flag up, the Veterans did. You seem to want to rule people with an iron hand. Did the city violate the establishment clause, I don't know. That would be decided by a judge, and their opinions vary. It is not for you, the ACLU or me to decide.

Some of this discussion is irrelevant. The white flag with a blue canton and a red cross, that is being referred to as the Christian flag, is still flying at the Veterans Memorial in the King Central Park.
Congress makes law. Courts make rulings and establish case history. Rulings of all courts may be tested time and time again.
If the flying of the flag under discussion is heard by a court and the court rules against the city and issues orders for the removal of the flag, and the city does not respond accordingly, the city would then be in violation of the court order. But, as of this time, no case against the City of King has been filed.
It appears that the only action so far, is that the flag protester has awakened a sleeping giant across the USA, ie the "Christian Faith".

The flag issue will be settled in court (if necessary) probably based upon whether the city of King, in this case has a claim to “government speech” as ruled by the supreme court in a 2009 ruling in favor of Pleasant Grove, Utah in allowing the display of one monument and refusing another based on the right of speech by a government, referred to as “government speech.” Even tho King probably is on solid ground under that decision, I question the wisdom of a decision that grants "government speech".

Personally I believe that “government FREE speech” is consistent with the founding documents. Although it may not always be used in favor of my beliefs, I will side with the founding fathers in preserving free speech above my desire to not be offended. Personally I see little difference between a small private non-profit, facilitating said speech, and a small local government facilitating said speech. It is for the courts and not I to decide.

Yes, let the courts decide. And with that being said, please get a new catch phrase. The "You Decide" bit is getting old and is irrelevant anyway.
