Excuse meeeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm a veteran and I live, pay taxes and donated to the Memorial in King. I was not asked nor many other veterans I know were not asked. The City allowed a panel to decide what flags were to be placed on the Memorial, those are the FACTS. There was never a vote of ALL Veterans.
I wish you people would stop saying ALL VETERANS because not ALL VETERANS want that flag to fly above THEIR memorial. Not everyone that donated money was/is a Christian or a Veteran.
SO JUST STOP STATING IT AS IF IT WAS A FACT, IT'S NOT!
I go to church and worship my God and we have a different flag for our Christian God.
So stop trying to push yours on us.

Well apparently you were not on the Veteran memorial commitee, nor did you investigate before you donated money.(I am sure they will give you a refund if you take your donation receipt and ask for a refund). Why did you not voice your concern after it was revealed six years ago. AND why did you not voice your concern at the meeting they had on Monday? Not one person out of more than 500 opposed.
To I was not asked.
It is my understanding that Chriatian flag was in the design from the begininng. As for all Veterans- I did not say this I said local veterans, and the overwhelming public response bears witness that the majority of the local veterans represented here are Chriatian. My view is this: The Christian flag no more means every name under it is Christian any more than the POW flag means every name under it is or has been a prisoner of war. I agree whole heartily if you were somehow missinformed and wish a to have refund and your name removed form the monument this should be done for you.

If you will not share it then please don't talk about it. You appear go be a fraud like all other christians living a lie. I have heard it many times before that I cannot understand someon's personal relationship with jesus. Well then explain it. Enlighten us with this information. I am all ears. Present it or shut the he'll up and quit posting. You have nothing to give us do you? You are living a sham and trying to act intellectual. Please spare us. You act as though you have some secret that only you know.
You show your ignorance when you seek to examine something spiritual by means of a process that documents the natural/physical.

As far as the lady going to speak her opinion at the memorial, she has every right to say what she thinks it's a public park protected by freedom of speech or do you wish to take that away from everyone that disagrees with you?.........
As far as the incident you speak of (I did not witness it nor have I heard anyone speak of it but you) If you or 'your friend' want to stand a reasonable distance and yell you opinion to those standing vigil. That is your freedom of speech. If you are getting in their face and pursuing them and trying to incite violence then you should be removed to "a reasonable distance" and if you continue to leave that reasonable distance to incite. You should be removed from the site. You can stand there and yell tell you get tired and collapses or give up and go home that is your right. But if you seek to harass then you should be firmly escorted away.

A Record was kept of who spoke and their physical address. So the council can weigh the comments against who is a voter. I have to disagree with your statement. This monument represents local veterans that reside(d) both inside the city of King and the surrounding community. The members of the surrounding community also support City of King by patronizing local businesses. Therefore the stakeholders in this issue cannot be defined by geo-political boundaries. Some of those that spoke were essentially speaking on behalf of their parents or grandparents who are residence of the city of King.

Evidently, the other thread was closed. Hmmmm

The bottom line on all of this is that the Christian flag has no place at a public (City owned) park, unless all other religions are given a chance for the same display or expression.

Christians do not own the park.

Here are my two (so far) blog posts on the matter:

There is a misconception that this monument represents all veterans nation wide. This is not the intent. This monument is to represent local veterans. It was the local veterans that selected the flags and the local veterans that are flying a Christian flag over their monument of which they invested their own private monies in, over and above tax dollars. Personally I am not opposed to additional flags as long as they are culturally significant to the local community as this is a local monument. Furthermore I am not opposed to incorporating any symbol recognized by the US military on individual pavers. However the City nor the veterans can be expected to redesign the monument every time a citizen gets and itch. However in the end this is the local veteranís Freedom of Speech. Just because we live in a reprehensive democracy where everyone is represented it does not mean all views will be satisfied.

@ Common Sense.

All the local veterans are not Christian.

Even if they were, the monument is a PUBLIC monument.

And, even if they were, there are other Veterans, who gave just as much, who are not Christians.

No one is asking that the monument be re-designed, that I know of.

If it rains, and no flag flies on a rainy day, is that a re-design in your book?

The Christian flag has plenty of places to fly.

But, the park is not one of them.

LMAO "even if they were(all Christian), there are other Veterans, who gave just as much, who are not Christians.
This sentence contradicts its self

Yes I would say that removing the Christian flag to fly another is a redesign. Note I said ADDITIONAL flags in my previous post.

If you want to argue, I encourage you to look elsewhere. Rabid foaming at the mouth does not impress, nor goad me. In fact, it shows fear.

I haven't made any claim that the Christian flag represents every name under it, so why allude that I have?

Contradicts, how?

Your "saying" that removing the Christian Flag is a re-design is you "saying" that. Not everyone holds the same opinion.

So when it rains, and all the flags are down, that's a re-design in your mind?

Wouldn't it be great, if we could all just get along, and have equal freedom?

Shore said, "If you want to argue, I encourage you to look elsewhere." That is because others use facts, you do not. You try to monopolize any thread once you are on one. The thread that was just removed 'Hundreds Expected for Flag Rally in King on Saturday' you did monopolize and you thought it was your pulpit for the devil.

Jay, I said precisely what I intended to say. The word was and is FACTS something you seem to be a stranger to. When you have something to say with substance than I will discuss it with you. When you are the first to make a comment on a thread, that is not responding. As for your ungodly Hindu stuff, I am not into that.

Thank you Harold.

I am very thankful that you are absent authority to proclaim what is godly and what is ungodly. You are correct, however, in that you say that facts are something I seem to be a stranger to.

I was raised with claims of many facts, and those just proved to be someone's beliefs.

I have seen you on many threads and stayed for quite a while. Would you then be considered as a monopolizer. Would that be considered hypocrisy? Presenting facts? Lol.

It should be understood that this is a monument to local veterans. As such it is an issue about what is culturally significant to them.
I am proud of my community for setting the example that our constitutional rights are worth fighting for.
You act like as if the flag doesn't go back up then this whole country will go to hell in a handbasket. Do you really think that the Creator of the universe has time for this non-issue? I would think that the Creator would be more focused on the non-christian places in the world, so that they too would have a chance at salvation. Nah, he wouldn't have time for that mission cause he has to be in King to make sure a man made idol is put back up.
