not everyone is a Christian, this country was built upon religious freedom, why shove that flag and religion down everyone's throats...
Christianity did not build this country, despite what most claim, mostly free people built this country - free from religious persecution - all religions!
Kinda hard to get that into thick skulls - who see only what they want to see.

Doe anyone realize the 'Christian Flag" was originated for the crusades, where tjousands of innocent non Christians were killed in Europe for no reason?

Uhm, kdjhck, get your facts straight first of all. The crusades were waaaaaay before the Christian flag was created (it was created in 1897).

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_flag

Although I'm not a supporter of the Christian flag, you're making yourself look equally as ignorant by stating 'facts' that aren't true. Shame.

I am very proud to be a resident of King, NC!! This town is a wonderful example of a middle American town, where you can raise your children in safety. The conflict over the Christian Flag has just brought this great community closer together. I'm praying that "Steve" will see Christ in us through all of this! People in this community love "Steve" and want to see him come to Jesus Christ!

I see that you are one of many that seem to be confused. NOBODY is shoving anything down someone's throat. The monument was bought and paid for by Vet's and private donations, all of whom want the Christian flag flying. The Memorial is in no way owned by the government and even if it were, it is NOT in vioalation of the 1st amendment, and this WILL be proven in the court of law.

It's just like the devil to turn things around and say the christians are trying to shove the flag down someone's throat. It's the other way around so quit looking in the mirror long enough and see things correctly.

I think it is a shame that people like you think that all of our soldiers are christian. I can support all of our troops, regardless of religion, race or any other label. If you can only support those that are christian, then you are not a patriot and you do not support this country. Fight for what is right, but in this case you are wrong. By the way, please either learn to use the spell check feature or get a dictionary. Those are simple words that you misspelled.

I see that you are one of the many that are confused. It doesn't matter who bought the monument, but where it is displayed. It is on city property, not private. That makes it a violation to fly a religious flag on it. It is a violation of the first amendment and this will be proven, as it has been several times in the past, in a court of law.

I agree that people should fly their flags wherever and whenever they want to. If more people would proudly fly their flags and let people know what they are not going to tolerate, then this great country of ours will be even greater.

You are all wrong. Be that as it may, regardless if you are a christian or not, it should bother you. The first amendment says freedom of speech and freedom of religion. But now the government is saying we can have that freedom of religion, we just can't express it, not in public, so now they are going against our right to freedom of speech. So its said before they take it away.....JESUS SAVES. But its your decision. The main thing that bothers me is why are people from SC so concerned about what goes on in stokes county? And did anyone else know they had computers down there?

You have been on this board long enough to know the whole story. The vet's only partially paid for the monument. That is the truth. You are either outright lying, totally ignoring all other posters, or deliberately providing us with a half-truth. So Christian-like of you! Distort the truth in any way you can to try and win your argument.

A quote from the article:

"Carol Vass agreed, saying 'It's very disheartening to see other religions being allowed to display their beliefs, but not Christians.'"

Can someone explain how other religions are allowed to display their beliefs, but Christians are being specifically excluded?

I think that a lot of people are jumping to conclusions here. Number one, "Steve" complained that a RELIGIOUS flag was being flown - not specifically that it was a Christian flag. For all we know, Steve may well be a Christian who simply believes in the separation of church and state. Number two, I'm not sure why it's so important to Christians that this flag be flown on city property. You're allowed to fly any flag you want on your private property. Why isn't that good enough?

Freedom of religion doesn't bother me at all. We have freedom of religion, and we can express it in public. You can stand in the middle of the park and tell everyone that Jesus loves them, or that Jesus hates them...it's all freedom of speech. What you can not do is use public property for a permanent structure that is endorsing a single, albeit majority, religion.

Maybe those christians should fly the "I'm a priest/minister and got busted doing horrible things to children" flag. I betyou will never see a victim fly a flag supporting religions.
All religious churches should be taxed like any other business than we will see how many fail or supported by the weak minded followers who can't seem to realize all religion is nothing but propogandra hocus pocus.

It matters because what is going on there... could if not happen here too. I want all Christians to take a stand no matter what state you live in. We must unite. Be not devided or we shall fall!

Wrong again, folks. First, there is no such thing as a universal "christian flag". Is it the flag of the vatican or baptist church? How about the mormons or lutherans? maybe its the church of england, disciples of christ, 7th day adventists, or presbyterians? And which other religious groups are pushing you good people off the front pages? The ones that want to build a mosque, temple or shrine? I'm assuming your "christian" church is already in place. Sometimes I forget that our public officials put their hand on the constitution and swear to protect the bible. No, wait. It's the other way around, isn't it? But you go right ahead and be hypocrites. We had better let you, or you might get violent, or maybe just scream an yell about how you're being held back. Face it folks...the USA is NOT a christian country. Neither is it moslem, jewish, hindu, buddhist, nor athiestic. But we have a country great enough to embrace them all, and practice what we wish AS LONG AS doing so does not infringe on the right of another to practice as THEY wish. BLESS and SUPPORT the USA!
