What about the citizens who are harassed? I have heard of many accounts of this. Many who have spoken their mind have been harassed...

I've met on several occasions one of the new supervisory staff and found her pleasant, but she may be out of touch with administrative protocal. I believe this is influenced by her over-zealous partner.
I hear you loud and clear!

Wanda please stay off of Topixs now that you are on Town Council. Tim Curtin needs to stay off Topixs also.

Chuck, you're right about the change of sorts since you left. Police chief and chief financial officer now report to the town manager. According to the town charter, both are supposed to report to Council, but the old council under Mayor Rummage passed a resolution changing that. That's what's Somehow it got changed when Chris Hawkins left and then wanted to come back. Rummage and Foulds tried to pressure him into signing a new contract that would have forced him into reporting to the town manager. He knew that would be a recipe for disaster and so he walked away. That contract was written by town attorney Andrea Erard (way to go Andrea. Glad you're looking out for us). Current Chief Blevins signed that contract and that's why when the town manager tells him to jump, he has no choice but to ask how high. That is one of the many, many things that need to change.

Wanda, if it isn't already, moving police chief and CFO back where they belong under control of town council should be high on your list of priorities. Thanks.
Wow, that's interesting. A resolution that changes the Charter? Changing the Charter requires action by the Va. General Assembly; not sure a resolution can do that. The last time the Charter was changed was when the Town eliminated the Treasurer position (as an elected official) and installed a CFO in place. I want to say that was maybe 2007...???....The years fly by)

The Charter should be changed so that the Council all work under Val and Andrea like they appear to do .Make it official.

Well first meeting of new council....police chief resigns. I would say they are making change, He walked out of the building. Then they made a resolution to make Capt. Seay the Acting Chief. Hold on to your hats, we're in for a ride.

History repeats itself, and there's at least 50 years documented.
Human nature and self interest probably played a big part in his decision. I'll lay it out for you sometime :) It's all about the money in most cases and centers on the resume. Go out on top when you can and he had the time to set up a departure. Think about it :) The only part they may have played was in confirming HIS decision. STP was the driver that started the car. AA (As Always) I could be wrong, BITN (But I Think Not:)

Abby,

When Rick finishes up fiscal cliff rescue, I'd like to reserve a few days of his time to negotiate a Middle East peace treaty before I leave office. Thanks.
