Guess What know it all, I know the woman who comes down there every week. She reports everything to Mr. Simms. And for your information the building is going to be fixed up! And it will re-open as Mr. Simms' business. He has no intentions of selling the building. You live there, you know so much, did you know that you as a tenant are part of the problem, using electrical cords across the room, plugging in too many appliances at once, living in "filth", clothes everywhere, trash, food and the list goes on. You all have money for cigarettes & beer. YOU CHOOSE TO LIVE IN THOSE CONDITIONS!!! If the shoe fits!!! I hope when it is renovated that they never let you back in there. Why don't you expose what room you live in and we'll see what kind of room you rkept!

I used to do fire safety checks back in the early 90's. Here is one of my videos:

how is all of this not the owners fault there is a law in va that states all businesses and other comercial building must undergo a rigorous and thorough inspection process before it can be opened as a business or dwelling why did this building not get the inpection it was supposed to get. I gues it is just like any other small town ...if you grease the right pockets you get by with anything!! Maybe the town should be taken over by the county so things will be done correctly....Just a thought

That place has been hurting our buisness since we opened. The dumpster is gone through every nite and my employees are constantly having to pick up debris from around it. Drunks constantly stumbling over here scaring away customers and trying to get a free meal. Good Riddens

The person who made that comment as "Papa John's" is clearly just a troll. I know the REAL manager personally and not only does he live in Maryland (not smithfield va which is down by Norfolk) he is also an extremely nice guy and would never say such a thing. Guess you can't believe everything you read on the internet.

Exactly, IMHO,'Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see'.

While the blame can be from many angles the one thing that sticks out is just how many people can stay in a small motel room that is set up for 1 or 2 people on a short term basis. Some of those room's have many people living in them on a year around basis. In the end this leads to a overload on the motel. The Town should and may already have some codes to prevent this from happening again. SO lets get to it Colonial Beach code enforcer's. Better things seem to be in front of you to get done besides grass too tall and somebody's vehicle without tags. Lets get something done to prevent this type thing from happening again. Done it before when rental properties had to many people living in rooms. Hope the best for all those that need to find a home so soon.

You don't have your facts straight!!! The owner NEVER wanted the Tenants out on the 24th. He tried very hard to keep the Tenants in the Motel. Offered to do repairs while the Tenants stayed. The City of Colonial Beach denied him. Along with the Fire Marshall. You don't know what your talking about.
Several years ago the Town council presented a plan(drawing)for a new town hall complex on the site of the old public works dept. problem was, not enough funds, space or interest? Now the town is puting money into the motel bailout. A nonpayment by the owner could result in a judgement/foreclosure against the property with the town getting it's needed space,on the cheap?

first i would like to thank you for your response to my question wanda.
Here's another for anyone who has the information. It was brought up about what tenants pay to stay in the apartments at riverwood. I was told by someone that they could not get an apartment there because they had bad credit. Is this true? I ask because I am sure most could afford to pay 17$ a month. I assume it is on a sliding scale but I do not know.
Here at Riverwood Apartments, I have to run credit and criminal checks on all applicants. My credit and criminal restrictions are tight. Rent is based on 30% of all monthly income with deductions for children and/or elderly/disability. These are federal guidelines that I have to strictly enforce.
