As i stated, there is NO LAW that says I can't be out at 2:30A.M.... I am a legal adult. I HAVE FREEDOM.... My phone was dying and I forgot my charger at home. HAD TO ANSWER IT IN THE MORNING TO GO TO CHURCH THE NEXT DAY. And what about the car that passed with one headlight? Say what you want. But we all have our rights, and if i feel like RIDING AROUND ALL NIGHT in the car with my friend... as long as we are doing the speed limit, following the signs, and etc. WE HAVE NO REASON TO BE FOLLOWED BY THE POLICE. That is harrasment, and that IS against the law.

It's 2012 and you still think you have rights. God bless you for thinking that way. The truth of the matter is RIGHTS have been eroded over the past 60 years, more so since 911.

John is right, and things got worse on December 31, 2011 when President Obama signed into "Law" a particular piece of legislation that you need to look at.

It is the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012.

The most controversial provisions to receive wide attention are contained in Title X, Subtitle D, entitled "Counter-Terrorism."

In particular, sub-sections 1021(INDEFINITE DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL: SECTION 1021) and 1022 (REQUIREMENT FOR MILITARY CUSTODY: SECTION 1022), which deal with detention of persons the government suspects of involvement in terrorism, have generated controversy as to their legal meaning and their potential implications for abuse of Presidential authority. Although the White House and Senate sponsors maintain that the AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF MILITARY FORCE (AUMF) already grants presidential authority for indefinite detention, the Act states that Congress "affirms" this authority and makes specific provisions as to the exercise of that authority. The detention provisions of the Act have received critical attention by, among others, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)[Not always my favorite people, but this time?], the Bill of Rights Defense Committee, and some media sources which are concerned about the scope of the President's authority, including contentions that those whom they claim may be held indefinitely could include U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, including arrests by members of the Armed Forces.

This ACT was slipped in and signed by the President while we were all distracted with the celebration of the winter holidays (you know, those Politically incorrect ones, like Christmas, Chanukah, and New Years), Guess it was kind of like lighting the National Christmas Tree with one hand while signing the NDAA with the other hand. OH! See the pretty Christmas tree, do not bother watching my other hand it is doing nothing important.

Welcome to Orwell’s 1984.

Life in the United States is becoming a world of perpetual class warfare (99% vs 1%, the War on Women, race vs race, relegion vs relegion, etc).

We have pervasive government surveillance (does ever cell phone has a GPS unit?).

here is incessant public mind control with an impulse to find more refined ways (Politically Correct) of talking about unpleasant truths (the Norfolk attack of two news reporters was not a racial incident?) of the human experience via the Media and accomplished with a political system that we can metaphorically name “American Socialism”.

This is a system that is dominated and controlled by the Privileged Inner Sanctum of the Party elite (Comprised of both Democrates and Republicans most likely).

And You Think You Have Rights?

This is just my opinion and I may be wrong, but I’m sticking to it, until proven wrong.

No it was not! How ever I believe some may just be using it as that! Even finding more sinister ways to go about it than can be found in the book. In my opinion, the detention laws and camps are being built for the day America wakes up and realizes that were no longer a free society. If the average American would just take a couple hours to see the legal changes to our rights since 9/11, and specifically since Obama was elected I truly believe we would have another revolution. Many are actually planning for it, as they expect it. What does the Obama administration do in response? Put huge orders in to the ammunition makers to keep them booked and not manufacturing for American citizens. These are facts! Wake up America before it is too late! Im sure Ill get another call or "visit" for this post, but Ive come to expect it. I refuse to be shackled by socialist government oppression! Im prepared. Can you say the same? If not, think real hard about it!

Is the Colonial Beach nightlife scene worth the trip from Prince William County? These days I like to get out of the area and find new places to hang out, throw down a few brewskis, and enjoy some live music. I've heard that the town is run down and has an element of gutter trash mingling about but I have always liked those gritty blue collar dive bars (within reason).

Gutter trash probably can't afford the drink prices here, we don't have any dive bars...just lounges attached to restaurants, several restaruants do have live bands on weekends, most of the people you will find here do not qualify as gutter trash as it is a community of many weekend homes.

Gutter trash finds its way to CB just like any other place, so let's not get carried away. Having said that, things have changed dramatically in the past 20 years. For you relative newcomers, I was around when the "boardwalk" was "happening", as some like to say. And not in your great, grandparent's "happening" kind of way. Very bad. You have no idea. Today's CB clientele is 300% better than the trainwreck that was the 70's and 80's. Nightly fights, usually instigated by white and black trash leaving Reno and clashing with pool hall regulars. It was scary. So when you want to complain about July 4 and Festival weekend, take a deep breath and relax. It was just a short time ago when you wouldn't dare take your kids down to the front. And "come heres" need to be applauded for this in some capacity. They have been the folks to lead the charge when it comes to chamber activity, buying old homes and fixing them up.

I can remember when there was a ring toss game in front of Reno where the prizes were knives. Can you imagine? Boardwalk much safer now.

I remember that! Wow! Don't forget that second prize, after the knife of course, was a Playboy mirror for your wall, or a t-shirt that said, "Bad Ass White Boy".

You must be speaking of the early 80s, as the late 80s into the early 90s, I spent many a night on the boardwalk, with no issues at all!

Why are they still renting a expencive Police station by Git and Zip when they are now puting one on the Boardwalk and a still have an old one next to Town hall? Why not use the old Town Public Works property with a modular building and then We could have 4 Police stations, when our Chief can't even run 1 .There was a mold problem at the old station but why don't they repair that and reuse it ?What if any are the future plans ? Why do they keep throwing good hard earned taxpayers money at everything and then continue to raise taxes?IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL GOOD FISCAL MANAGEMENT?

All I know is they were out like sharks on Saturday night. We were heading back from Dockside at 1130,(sober I might add), and saw Staties, Counties and locals. WTF?! I saw three pulled over just getting out of town. One was followed right out of the Dockside parking area and pulled. Another out of the 7/11 parking lot and pulled.

Hope this is not what Summer holds for CB.......
