It's not "afford" it's required by certification :)

Seay can't do the job now that's why they are advertising for a NEW CHIEF, SEAY doesn't have enough experience to be The Chief! And it's not saving money because he was acting Chief, Chief Blevins position is still open.

What does it matter the Town council and the back door dealing town officials and big wigs will make sure the next man don't do anything better. This town doesn't want a difference maker they want a "Yes Man" Don't believe me??? Look at the past dealings of this town and the good people who tried to make a difference only to be forced out of their position and ran out of town.

Well unless they get somebody who has already been a Chief somewhere else or has a ton of Supervisor experience with a Police Department which I doubt they'll find for the cheap pay they are offering then we'll be no better off than with Seay running it. Remember this being a Police Officer and running a Police Department are two different things.

Taking your statement at face value and applying human nature to the formula:
7 people 7 different self interest.
It takes 4 to advance anything.
A supposed yes man will eventually cross someone in most situations.
Your crack team's mission is to elect 7 people of the same persuasion in order to break the logjam :) Good luck with that :)
Shades of Stepford wives :)
Names and positions taken on specific issues at this time will move the ball forward. Otherwise 5 yards for delay of game :)
I'm ready for Football :)

Sheriff Baldersin was never a supervisor but only a Trooper and he seems to be doing a hell of a job! So just goes to show you supervisory skills has nothing to do with it!

. I don't agree for Seay or anyone else currently in that department to be Chief. As long as current are in charge there nothing will change for the goo, obviously Seay was givin the opportunity and could not rise to the occasion, time for someone new!

Yes, Hawkins impressed a lot of local folks---his pleasing personality does not compensate for what I found wanting. The only thing I noted during his short time here was stopping frequently by businesses to visit. That is great, but not enough for me to support him.

The past is the past. I hear there are many applicants for the position including many from within the PD. I hope the Council picks a good chief that is tough on the criminal element of our town. We have some good police officers that can do the job.

Why bring someone in from the outside they don't know what this town needs they need to promote from within there is a few officers currently on staff that would probaly be good a candidate.

There's a big difference between running a county and running a small town PD filled with small town politics besides Sheriff Balderson was a Trooper for many many years and had many dealings with this local department.

Nothing will change regardless of who gets it. Whoever they pick will be nothing but a Town Council "Puppet" and at a decreased salary at that.

Balderson also took Major Hoover with him who also happened to be a long time Trooper and a Sgt. With State Police too so that makes a difference. The man or woman who gets this job won't have that luxury and will be all by their self with town council telling em what to do.

Didn't Hawkins get the people who had to do community service to clean up Eleanor park? That was a good use of man power. Let's get them here on a monthly basis.

Didn't Hawkins spearhead the accreditation of the PD? I hear that gets the town cheaper insurance,

Didn't Hawkins get that evidence van?

Didn't Hawkins have the PD work with the task force and get some of the dopers?
Didn't Hawkins work with councilman Kennedy to clean Castlewood Park? Oops....
