People need to pay more attention while operating motorized vehicles. Always be aware the scene is constantly changing.

I agree Abby and myself have been working with VDOT on this. They are doing a study on the flow of traffic I will be pushing Congress on this too I was almost in a wreck myself at this main blinking light that has been the same for years.

There needs to be a Traffic Light put in By Gittie's on 205. That is a terrible intersection.

not sure a traffic light is a fix for this problem. Plus at current it is a temp problem with traffic flow because of bridge work that is scheduled to conclude very shortly. When bridge is completed traffic will drop off at that intersection. At current all of the beach is doing what they never have done before and that is to turn left on 205 leaving the beach. When the bridge is complete they will turn right like they always do and problem will be solved.

What does that have to do with 205 and Gittie's?? I still say we need a Traffic Light at this intersection. People are still going to turn left onto 205 to get to Dahlgren, Fredericksburg, King George. HELLO maybe you should think before you type. WOW.

gitties is not the intersection in question. maybe you should read the article before you type. you must be a low information type of person that reacts to feeling vs logic and facts.

Maybe a stoplight at both intersections would be appropriate... the instersection near the swamp has been dangerous a long time, particularly with traffic trying to pull out of Halls and Frank's garage. Terrible accidents have taken place long before bridge construction and will continue after.

Logic: A Traffic Light would maybe stop some accidents from happening at these intersections.

Fact: There have been several accidents at BOTH intersections!!!!!

the day this county went down the drain was when they put in a stop light. Now every come here wants one at every intersection. Then you will complain about traffic backups.

Agreed the intersection is more dangerous due to bridge repair, but come on. She did not "almost die". Almost dying would be colliding with another vehicle at the intersection, both going 55 mph. There was probably 10 MPH of total impact. Good for her trying to make a difference in her community, but the intersection is not deadly.

To set the record straight. The intersection is dangerous. My car was going 40 mph in a 45 mph zone when I was hit and knocked head on into a truck. And yes, I will continue to fight for a stop light to protect others from getting hurt, maybe even you. You should not assume 10 mph if you were not there on that day. Look in the newspaper at the picture of my totaled car and then ask yourself if 10 mph could do that kind of damage. Just so you know some more facts. Everyone has a right to feel safe on a public highway.

Some bruising is not almost dying. I'm sorry you were hit, but your injuries were not serious, there typically is not that much traffic from that road (and it is not the official detour anyway.)

There is no need for a traffic light at that intersection, it isn't as if a light would have stopped this accident. there is a stop sign there, the person went through the stop sign to hit you, why wouldn't they have gone through a stop light?

I will be highly disappointed if VDOT puts a light in there. It will be a waste of time and money at a time when VDOT is fighting for enough funding to keep the roads properly maintained!

I would say that most of us "come here's" would just be happy if everyone would go the speed limit as opposed to ten or fifteen mph below whatever is posted.

It's too dangerous to text or talk at speed :) You need wider roads so they can continue their journey and not have to stop :)
We have the "stale red spread" down here (Car parts all over the road after a light change) even with a 2 second 4 way red interval.

Abby, why would you and Rick post such garbage as this. Some newbies read these posts and actually believe them. This is a serious discussion, on a non-sensible website, but still warrants respectable and honest replies,
